I think the reason the cameras didn’t capture the transcending part of that Tweezer jam, is because people were still living in the moment and listening to it, it really shows.

As much of an absolute train wreck the Vegas run was, that Tweezer is the epitome of dark funk in 04’.

I was watching a Phil and Phriends clip you have up and then noticed the username. Dude, best Phish show I’ve been to. Glad to see someone else loved it.

My first phish show , I thought it was just OK .I always thought that Banza had to use gimmicks was because they weren’t that great but it was New Year’s Eve so I gave a pass. Lol It was fun I was there with a bunch of friends but I would never go on tour with them been there done that

Oh I remember this tour , my friend called it Phil's lullaby tour.

Man jeeey and trey would have been such a cool thing to see together.. those 2 on acoustics would have been one hell of a thing to witness.

WOW!! I've never seen footage of this! Do you have any from Albany 2003!? This Worcester show was my second show! I'm now watching it literally 20 years later as I sit on the beach. We were basically dead last row in the upper deck 🎉

I always considered the Piper to be the crown jewel of this mix. But goddamn…. that Saratoga ASIHTOS is absolutely mind blowing. I also just love the sound of the Saratoga shows. At least on 6/19, Mike really comes through the mix.

The Saratoga Piper is mind-numbingly great. According to one of the biographies, Trey famously said after one of the Saratoga sets something to the effect of, “If every show could be like this, I would reconsider breaking up”. Since I live in Vermont, not too far from Saratoga, I will forever regret not going to those shows. In hindsight, I would have gone to Saratoga instead of Coventry if I had the choice.

I can’t believe this was captured on film. Thank you so much. And that phone call is exactly what it was like. It was so joyous that you just had to find someone to tell or hug. It’s corny but it’s true. I can’t believe I’m seeing this again. Just, wow.

The Dead (with PigPen) turned a jug and banjo stomper into a Garcia-led psychaedelic jazz festival journey through rock and roll -- one that is reimagined here beautifully and tightly in 1999, post-Jerry, by Phil and Friends. And a few nights ago, in August 2002, they played it yet again -- as Philco, with Wilco -- in Chicago, and it was special yet again. But I think this is the loveliest version of all time. It's blues-adelic and subtle and pretty and mesmerizing. Phil's bass on this song is exquisite. Viola Lee Blues is emotionally absorbing and timeless --Yes Indeedy.
