I watched this movie on HBO probably 50 times growing up. Not the greatest Robin Hood flick but I liked this Friar Tuck. HBO wasn’t all hits back in the late 70s and early 80s.

Superb series from the BBC based on the excellent trilogy by John Christopher. Dakki's additional filming wasn't bad either. 😃

I can't believe it... I can finally put a name to this scene that I saw once on TV as a child. It was haunting and disturbing especially seeing the girl weeping as her hair was shaved of... good to finally understand what was going on in the story.

Am I crazy or is this different to the English BBC version? I mean other than the German accents of course. I haven't watched the series in a long time but the actors and some of the scenery look different

Is there any recording of this? Would love to see it!

I've always loved and been truly touched by the end scene of "Morning Departure". Snipe (who knows they will die soon, says to captain): "I'm not afraid, Sir. But I dunno. It is the end of everything, I expect?" Captain Armstrong (answers Snipe): "Maybe a beginning!" Armstrong suggests they say a prayer as it is Sunday morning - and probably their last day in this life. Higgins: "It don't seem right, Sir!" Armstrong: "Why not Higgy?" Higgins: "I've never paid much heed to that sort of thing before[religion]. I doesn't seem right to ask for help just because..." Armstrong: "I'm quite sure He [God] doesn't look at it like that." One of the best scenes I have ever scenes and the most emotional.

Went to see this last night. Really good! Powerful songs too. I reckon it would be quite easily given some support and finance and work on the London stage ! Well done everybody involved 👏👏👏

This was shown on BBC1 in the autumn of 1988. I loved it when it was first shown and it's a shame it was never released or uploaded. It's showing its age now but it is 30 years old when domestic sitcoms were in vogue and in abundance on TV. Great to see it after all these years. Just sad there's only this much.

One main character was called Katie; and the other two actresses were Kathy and Katherine. Has one name been so prominent in any other show?

God, this is even more shite than I remember

I remember waiting and waiting for the BBC's 3rd series of The Tripods ´The Pool of Fire´ to come onto TV, I waited years before I realised it had been cancelled... It was such a devastating shame. Thank you Robert for the reading, I now want to go and read the books again x

I saw that exhibition.. This video is ridiculously hypnotic. Although the highlight was the Cyberman of course!
