I appreciate your mentioning double gloving, and you may mention this in the video later, BUT, do you have a tip to avoiding dripping sweat from inside your gloves when working a long stretch and it’s hot and your hand moving certain ways, you’ll leave notable amounts of sweat on fresh epoxied (or coated) surfaces. What do you do to avoid that happening? Or does it not cause problems?🤔

This isn’t just you, and the fault is mostly you tube’s glomming videos together, but when you DO make multi-part videos, like you’re planning to finish here: Make the titles reflect that connection some way, so that viewers later on coming across content, can more easily find your follow up content when we search. I am interested in learning how you fill in small screw and bolt holes. Thanks for the work doing your videos, when you’re working on projects, you really appreciate the many times extra work is involved in presenting instructional videos. You’re a good teacher.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I have red gel coat that needs to be fixed. Is it red paint or actual red gel coating?

This is just amazing! I hear that coating the fuel tank is not a good thing, however, you did a more epoxy base rather than a tar like substance......they say it retains moisture, what is our thought on that?

Love your channel, also am building a 24 ft boat but kind of cheating as in buying a salvage boat ripping out the interior to expose all the fiberglass to make a mold for the new boat as in I'm a diy guy but have no clue how to make it aerodynamic when going through the water, i constantly go back and view the same videos trying to get the info i need so far, i think clean, sand, fill in with bulk filler then glaze correct process or ??

So I have some people on facebook telling me not to do the silica/ gelcoat mix for repair that are under the water line, I'm about repair the keel on a 1971 Boston whaler 16' 8". will this type of repair be ok for this kind of boat, it will be a fishing boat being used in salt water only in the pacific. Dry stored.

Great video and explanation, of your methods ! I'm a cedar strip canoe builder, and only use epoxy. I have regalssed several hulls, that the original builder used Polyester resin. It doesn't bond as well as epoxy, to cedar. Again great video ! Jim

Is there a maximum time between coats if you didn't add wax? I had other stuff to do and now it has been a few days. Acetone is able to dissolve the surface at the moment.

So glad we found you! You do great work! Ive been trying to figure out how to make new lids without having the old lids.. Ive scoured the internet for months and NOBODY has a video showing how to do that! I have a 73 mako 22 that i bought and both livewells, anchor box and the cooler seat in front of the console are all missing their lids. I cant figure out the best way to make new ones that would match the originals. Hope this comment gets to you! Thanks again!

Do you remove the tape before the gel coat dries?

That is by far the best video on gel coat restoration I've seen, and I've watched too many of them. It should be obvious to me, but I've got to ask what size backing pad and cutting pads were used?
