Is There a Better Way? Challenging Conventional Farming with Regenerative Methods.
Join me on a wet and muddy morning as I dive into our latest adventure: moving our pigs into a new wooded area to naturally manage the land and tackle some stubborn poison ivy. In today’s video, I also reflect on our recent visit to Fair Oaks Farms just across the Indiana border. It was an eye-opening experience, showcasing both the impressive and troubling sides of large-scale farming.
Back here at Kakadoodle, I’ll show you our simple yet effective methods for managing our pigs, and discuss why we might soon upgrade to electric fencing to keep our pigs happy and secure. Plus, I’ll touch on the broader issues facing our national food supply-how a few large producers dominate the market and the impact of confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) on our environment and communities.
This video is about more than just farming; it’s about how your choices as consumers can influence the future of agriculture. We're committed to regenerative farming-not just because it’s sustainable, but because it restores life to our soil, brings jobs back to rural areas, and improves the welfare of our animals.
So, come along for the ride, see what we’re up to, and be part of a movement that’s betting big on a healthier, more sustainable future. Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up with our journey and learn how you can make a difference with every bite. See you in the video!

I loved this video and your honesty - I came to find out how to get rid of a few stumps we have but unfortunately they are up against an ugly modern plastic fence ( not ours ) I think I’ll try the Epsom salts though. Thanks for sharing your farm life also
Garlic in your water every other week works great they love to eat it. I chopped up and fine pieces and put it in their water, but always make sure that you also have a fresh water for them too.
I was shocked to drive by your farm today didn’t realize how close you all are! Stopping by now to say hello and thanks for sharing from one Gardner to another!
👋
Methinks my sister Becky works there separating eggs. Neat.
Yay!
Congratulations from Orland Park!
Thank you!
So what probably happened is when the the place shut down the water lines didn't get blown out with air .
Ahh. You’re probably right!
One (singular) of the strings when pulled should give and then give you access to the bag.
Ahh. Got it!
Hey i work in Frankfort. Nice town.❤😊
It is 😊
Congratulations for Mt Greenwood area Chicago IL.
Thank you!
Great to see you are so close and can we visit and purchase yet ❤
We are at the Frankfurt farmers market. And you can purchase from us online. We will open up a storefront at the farm, but we’re probably probably a year or so away from that.
Very informative. Thank you for this great video.
You are so welcome!
Years later now, did biscuit kill again?
We had to do it once or twice more. But no, she did not. We actually had to do the same thing to another dog that we got, and it seemed to do the trick on him as well.
The thing about mycoplasma that nobody on CZcams is talking about is that it's extremely prevalent and you're not going to find a single hatchery that is myoplasma free. Not only that, it's also in the environment. It's estimated that mycoplasma is in 65% of chickens and that's the most conservative estimate that I have found thus far. It's not worth euthanizing all of your chickens just to have to replace them with birds that probably still have it.. only a small percentage of them actually become symptomatic. Most are just carriers. NPIP certification doesnt even require testing for mycoplasma. It's my understanding that at the very most there were only four hatcheries in the entire United States that were actually certified to be mycoplasma-free. And like I said it comes from the environment, as well as wild birds so it's all going to be for nothing in the end most likely.
Yeah, that’s interesting. Perhaps our birds had a stronger strain? Because we were losing them left and right.
How can i buy chicken house like this
Hengear.com
Love it Marty! Great insight into the reality of farming, and how we as consumers can choose with our dollars which way farming should be.
Glad you enjoyed it!
A lot of my chickens have mycoplasma but it’s way better now I’ve been treating with antibiotics
Ya. 😞
Did you disinfect your coop or run? Barn etc and if so what did you use? Going thru this now :(
Oh, shoot. I just cleaned everything out. And washed it down with water and had it to sit without chickens for a few weeks.
How did you fix the leaking nipples?
I didn’t really. Using the vertical nipples seems to work a little bit better. Because it drops straight down. And it’s also about the height of the water bar. You need to make sure that the chickens need to stretch their necks up and drink at about a 45° angle. That seems to help. But nothings perfect.
My childhood dog was killing our chickens and my Dad was NOT having it. He tied the chicken on the dog for 3 weeks, untilit rotted off that dog. No one would go near the stinky boy, but he never did it again. Did I tell you it was August summer heat at the time????? Ick
3 weeks!!
You did what you had to do. My 4-month-old Mastiff cross just got another one of my ducks today, 2 gone now. Getting new fencing with netting over installed this week I don't want to clip all their wings and dogs will be dogs
They certainly will!
Wow overly priced food that you get anywhere for much much less!! Yay! Don’t bother getting anything from these scam artists! Guaranteed you can find it cheaper and from a higher quality place then some you tuber 😒
Hey Brayden. I appreciate you watching and your perspective. Thanks for sharing. ✌️
Hey hey from the square! We absolutely love the products from you guys and are repeat customers. So much researching since Covid led my husband and i to want to get to the root of the gut issues and that began with no more processed meat filled with crap. From your eggs, to the meat…it’s all amazing ! Keep going Kakadoodle ! 🎉
Thanks so much!! 😊
I just had to cull 5 beautiful bantams my mom brought me because the change in environment did the same to them. I'm still so heartbroken, but it was them, or my existing flock of 15. The part you said about being initiated...hits home. Glad I clicked your video 🤌🏻
Oh man. I’m sorry. 😞. Thanks for watching.
7:43 I applaud your efforts for keeping chemicals out of my food. I would be happy to try organic sweet corn. I know how to wash off the bugs!
Thanks!!
@kakadoodle - So how did this system hold up in the winter? Are you still using it? Any updates or lessons learned that you can share?
Where can I purchase your eggs?
We deliver locally at Kakadoodle.com. We are also at the Frankfort farmers market on Sundays.
Looking to start my own. I been watching you guys for a while. I’m local and can’t wait to do this too

How do you like using the Langstroth frames in the AZ. Any propolis problems?
The hive swarmed. 😒
@@Kakadoodle did you have problems with the frames sticking together before the swarmed?
Is this on Sauk trail? \laraway

Hello and welcome to the neighborhood!
Hey, thanks!
This is something similiar I was thinking up! This video is so helpful to explain my idea.
Oh good!
Checking in from Steger! We’re patronizing this establishment asap! I’m excited for this. Paint all your roofs blue for “sustainability”
Thanks! You can start now! Order at Kakadoodle.com. 😀
Get a new pressure washer or at least replace the pump on that one. Those were a horrible design. Don't forget to stop in at Chef Klaus, Jameson's or Kup a Joe.
Ha. Ya. We have two of those pressure washers. Same thing on both! We’re fans of all those restaurants. How are you associated with them?
I drive past your place everyday right there on sauk!
Awesome. I’ll try to save next time 😝
Congratulations From your distant neighbor from unincorporated tinley park

This is a sad video to watch I'm going to get only 3 hens for eggs only I wouldn't keep a whole flock especially after watching this video I would have a hard time dealing with the loss
