This is a beautiful spot deep in the Karoo, South Africa. There is no Signal, Water or Electricity, or even trees for birds to nest in. There is absolute silence and stars as far as the sky stretches. Bliss!!

This was an epic three-day trip to the Augrabies Falls in North West part of South Africa. We stayed at Dundi Lodge which has a great runway, hangar space, fuel (Avgas) and amazing whiskey...Pioneer 300 and Vans RV6

Wonderful breakfast at Kersefontein farm on the West Coast of South Africa. It is a really nice weened breakaway with lovely accommodation and the runway is in a good condition. Just look out for mud after rain and Springboks that could be roaming around on the runway.

After I fixed up the small issue with the flaps not being symmetrical I did another flight just because the weather was amazing and Cape Town was so beautiful. Just some fun flying, realized that my flaps are not perfectly symmetrical so I returned home, fixed it up (with the help of the AMO) and did another even more stunning flight in the afternoon.

After the engine failure, both carburettors were removed and serviced, and the mixture was also set slightly richer. The engine is running beautifully now and after the carburettors were synchronized all the vibrations also disappeared. Time to take to the skies again!

I was taught to set for myself a series of personal minimums, conditions that if they are not met I will not fly. Things like Crosswinds, Cloud Base, Visibility, daylight remaining, fuel limits and personal circumstances to name but a few. Why did you lose 2 & 4? Oil pump, drop in pressure, length of use? These things pop out of nowhere? 😮 Way to stay cool and keep your passenger at ease. Glad to have you down. 😊

As far as I can tell as a total non pilot, well done sir. Pilot and crew are safe and plane is on the ground. Only thing I fly is a hammock!👍🏼😁
What kind of plane was this? Looks like a light sport not a full certificated plane with no mixture. I am sorry but every time I have been offered a ride in a exhibition or homebuilt I flat out sad no way. All stick to fully certificated planes . AD’s and Service Bulletin’s both optional and mandatory need to be followed. Homebuilts aircraft no thanks, light sport same forget it. I had enough problems with certificated planes let alone being a test pilot. Also some Pipers forget it, the Comanche line with their tail flutter.Been there done that.

Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. Even ur passanger was holding on to the seatbelt straps like she is supposed to. This situation was handled perfectly by all members involved. Any "Mayday" in which everyone walks away without a scratch is a good day.
Ok, so whats the problem ?? Perfect VFR, sufficient altitude, great vis to ck wind dir from ground dust/ smoke, just land the damn plane !!!

Sink to the level of your training? In all of my experience it's not 'sinking' the training kicks in automatically and as every distraction under the sun hits you - Always 'fly the plane' - 'fly the plane' and are my instructors words uttered under his breath as he threw things at me & that have never left me. RIP Dave. Nevertheless, very well done and as mentioned below, The priority in an emergency is 1: aviate 2: navigate and THEN 3: communicate

What the heck does that bug smasher use for an engine, sounds like a hair dryer.
The audio comes from the radio and the engine noise bleeds through on the radio. The engine is proper. Rotax 912uls
