I live in Bournemouth (Uk) and I’m a big car fan - especially DeLoreans, pre66 Air Cooled Beetles/Split busses, Sinclair C5s, 1980s/90s Porsche 911s and the Subaru Impreza STI/WR1s. I'm also into mechanics/electronics, and I am a big fan of Back to the Future (BTTF) and I repair/upgrade all versions of the Nike Mag.

Thanks all, enjoy - it’s a lot of hard work to restore this pair.

Great quality video full of stunning cars to gawp at.... 😲 Thanks for sharing. 👍
Awesome bug 👍
The widow maker
Awesome work as usual! You’re putting me to shame, in a year I’ve partially stripped one down and still need to get it sorted 👍
@@michaelnuk hey, I did spend almost a full day on rubbing everything down , then painting - the prep just takes ages by hand, but it’s cheap (as opposed to blasting )…! I wanted to get everything painted during my holiday as it was perfect hot weather - the paint can then be applied thick and I can get a nice finish . Graham is printing me a few missing parts and then I can finish the rolling aspect by Friday :) . Got to then find one gearbox part , add new bearings to the motor rotor and then repair the electronics /swap the red pod connector. This will be the last big project for this year :)
Buen proyecto!!👍
It’s such great fun to drive! 😮
@@gkhobbs this car really was one of the absolute stars of the show - nice to something other than Astons and McLarens! The P25 just looked awesome and so well designed, the interior looked fabulous and luxurious .
Looking great!

The cost of living crisis hasn’t hit Beaulieu 😂 Amazing video. Not too keen on the lady bragging she’s got money though 😂
Excellent video - well done!
Very nice. Clean install. How much in-and-out play is there for the lower front part of the rear wing panel? Not front to back but side to side. This would be for aligning it with the door.
@@danieldean7123 hey, sadly I can’t answer that. I just did the job and it’s been untouched since (ie no issues ). Many thanks
@@griceyboy No issues is good news! I imagine I can just take a dremel and open up the holes a little in the lower stainless support shelf if needed. Again, really nice work. Really demystified this whole body area. Thank you.
@@danieldean7123 good luck - it’s nice when you remove the cill and see what’s behind it :)
Nice
Very nice indeed, great work! What I don't think I heard was a description of how you get the rust off the chassis? Do you treat with a rust remover, wire wheel, or just sand down? Would you be able to put some links to the primer and paints you used as well please? I have a similar restoration to do and you've spurred me on to get it done in time for 2025! Also, who would I contact to get some 3D printed parts- Facebook forum?
@@harryinashed hey there, Thankyou very much for the comments - appreciated. So I spend hours rubbing down the chassis’s by hand using initially a sure brush , then just sand paper/blocks (wet and dry type), then if it’s really pitted I use zinc 182 and hand paint it on, then top coat with Holts 03 Grey and then laquer. If the chassis isn’t badly pitted , I would spray with regular grey primer instead of the zinc 182 paint. The zinc 182 has to dry overnight , incase you use that. If you want the exact paints, reply back and I’m home tonight - I’ll tell you the exact products.
@@harryinashed and for 3D parts, it’s Graham Garlick, via the C5 Owners Facebook group :), he’s a legend and all fairly priced.
@@griceyboy brilliant- thanks for the extra info!
Great job...great Sinclair...
Cracking video! You’re a C5 Wizard!
@@michaelnuk Thankyou - much appreciated. I’m actually going to start on the other one right now - get it stripped down and I’ll do the same restoration on it (plus I’ll be retaining the yellow painted parts), got to keep the history !
Really likes his car!
Brilliant video, and such a great job of restoration.
Ur the only person I think that know how to fix the Nike air mags v3.1 and the Nike air mags v4 and to upgrade the Nike air mag back to the future aliexpress shies
@@TonyStark-yj6iv yes indeed :). I’ll always do my best as each shoe often has different faults from the last one / so it’s really tricky to know exactly what’s wrong. I did make one mistake recently, I used sharpy pen to draw round an insole, then marked the insole with some blue pen. Not major, but it was a lesson learned for me - always learning and doing my best :). Really appreciate your constant support and great messages of encouragement.

@@joshh411 Thankyou - are Focus is going strong and zero issues with the power steering now :)
Hello how much do you charge to fixed the left Nike meg
@@TheWood912 hi there, it all depends what the fault is , and I can advise roughly , once we chat on Messenger. I run the Nike Mag repair and Upgrade forum on Facebook, so join there, scan all the posts, then get in touch on there or via Messenger if keen. I always try to help people to fix them themselves - otherwise I can advise on price if you want me to look at them. Most common faults are dead lipos and faulty charge sockets, but there’s many other faults.
@@griceyboy I fix it but I need a Lupo charger and a on and off switch, can you help me with that, I only need the switch now thanks again they lighting up now
@@TheWood912 hey, sorry I don’t sell parts , you’ll have to scan eBay or electrical parts suppliers once you identify what’s faulty.
Can you fix my left Nike meg
@@TheWood912 hello. Possibly - I am the best , but in the Uk. Add me on Messenger, Paul Grice, and you can send me a video showing the exact fault and I’ll assist you . No probs at all.
Can you fix my left Nike meg
nice work but you should not use stainless bots in suspension. tensile strength is low compared to OE stuff.
@@DunkiSTI ah that makes sense, I’ll check over the key structural bolts - Thankyou . I just hate the Subaru ones as they rust so so fast .
Hi buddy love your work. We're did you get the nike mag on the heal and the bubble on the side from please thank u
@@geoffmaw8522 hey there, thank you for the message - excellent stuff. So, join the Nike Mag Repair Facebook group, and you’ll find Graham Garlick / he makes the Nike mag letters and Swoosh’s….plus….hes just sent me today the very latest version to try out and film, taken from my moulded resin letters I posted him a few weeks ago, so a superior accurate font. I will film them if their are good. For the Bubbles, well, that’s me who makes these now. It used to be my main man AirMagKing, but he had supply issues all year, so I got 10 pairs made myself, and there perfect. I can sell you a pair if you wish. They are identical to the ones on the £500-1000 shoes (Paul Grice, on the group).
Hi how can I contact you?
Thats Amazingly DOPE! You made your own auto lacing shoe!!!
The C5 is such a stupid vehicle, underpowered, slow and short range, but when it was built, it was the best they could do. I am certain that someone has resto-modded one with modern batterys, motors and electronics that works much better and gives it more range, speed and makes it better in many ways, but original it is a time capsule. Oh, and that front brake from a BMX, just brilliant, they were never good enough on BMX bikes either... (there is hydraulic replacements if you don't want to go the discbrake route)
Hi, i cannot find how to contact you. I would love this service done to my airmags from airmag king. Please let me know if you offer this service to new customers! Thanks
@@reflex68-v4s hey there, you can find me on the Facebook group “Nike Mag Repair and upgrade “, I’m Paul Grice. Then Messenger me from there, once you have had a look through the group posts.
I tested one of the original C5's back about 1982. It's range was just 4.4 miles. totally useless.
@@MENSA.lady2 totally agree on the mileage, no where near their stated miles. These days you have far superior battery tech, they are half the weight and give constant power and don’t drop off - it’s what Clive needed in 1985…!
More people moving to electric vehicles these days
Seems like them handlebars are a real crap design. Conventional steering wheel somewhat in front and in-between the legs would have been far better.
@@philstevens9914 hey, no, the handle bars work amazing, very easy to steer and conveniently placed. With the advent of LIFO batteries, the C5 really is so much better to use than it’s ever been.
Really well made
@@lyomon9981 Thankyou - it’s a lot of fun to do and each pair gets better as the parts and upgrades get better and better!
Mega - I use the same hicote satin black for LOADS of things inc my C5
You’re plowing through these! Brilliant work 👍
@@michaelnuk Thankyou - always good to hear some positive feedback. I’m planning to carefully build the rolling chassis this weekend, then reunite the body shell next week. Then the bit I’m not keen on, further scrubbing the body shell…and a fun bit, adding new side stickers!
Great work looking spot on!
Airmagking legit then?
@@eduardorodriguez7689 yes indeed. You have AirMagKing in the Uk, SnuffyMags in Mexico or AirMagMan in the USA (he’s usually the cheapest ).
@@griceyboy thanks for the response and info!!
Those registration numbers are genuine. Were the C5's bought by someone to claim the registrations? Might be worth looking into that.
@@LordClunk hey, I’ll check with the owner (I’ll chase her up), I think they are just ends of old reg plates, for the kids to know which one they owned (just my guess, as that had 4-5 of them back in 1989)…
When did Netley Marsh up and move to Dorset?
@@iwb316 haha, doh - I see it’s Hampshire, I’ll amend that :). Great spot
Would you recommend cutting the front wheel guards for the Jon Webster brake kit?
@@problemchild1976 hey there, I reckon you go for it if you want it on and the original look . You can’t go back once you cut it, buy…there not rare parts and you’ll pick up another for £60/70 fairly easily. I expect someone will also 3D /resin cast in the future . To cut it - I unscrew the two halves, then you can place it onto the fork area and mark the caliper area with a pencil, then just cut with a jigsaw and find tooth blade.
Great progress! It amazes me how well the C5 shells hold up over the years! I had one that looked like someone had sat it in oil, a few hours later it was like new!
Love it mate If you wanna come do some of the lacquer peel on my Volvo 240 then I'll just drop it down haha
Did they once have the registrations assigned 6R and 8X?
@@poacher9118 hey there. So the family brought them over from Ireland, but I reckon it was just so the boys knew who owned which one. I’ve asked the old owners and she’s going to ask her aged mother in law to see if she remembers the history. I’ll post a new video on these tonight, as I just spent 3 hours cleaning them
Awesome find!
Amazing - seems like some real history there
Hello there! I’m going to leave the number plates on, as it’s part of their history (and in the original 1989 photo I have ).
Good wee project I've got 4 you won't make much money but brilliant to own , I take mine to car shows etc and charge for a wee drive nice little earner 🤞👍
Really looking into it you never know original owner wld probably be interested in it
Great video! Hopefully they aren’t too bad to put right 👍
Are the engine parts still available?
Hi there, let me know precisely what you need as I have sold much, but also got other parts now to sell (all at very reasonable prices as I’m not in this for serious cash gains ).
@@griceyboy hi brought my first c5 yesterday off ebay as a fixer upper the parts which I can see are missing are rear lights and the boot Part which I believe are broken and need replacing so far are the motor which I think might be seized (I think its the older brown one cause some of the gearbox clips are broken) the brushes plastic mounts are missing/broken, the brake handles the left ine with the handbrake is seized I believe the right is missing Thats as far as I've got so far
@@darthlovejoy3811 hey, Congrats on the purchase! You’ll have fun! Sadly, the rear light and boot are two of the three most expensive parts (in fair order ), boots tend to be £100 , rear lights tend to be £100 for a nice one or £30/50 for a cracked/chipped one (they chip very easily in the corners). Your motor isn’t worth refurbishing, best option is to find a used one that’s complete, and rebuild that - often £70/100 . If your gearbox is still good, then keep that as that’s a rare part. Get on my Facebook forum - (Sinclair C5 Owners) and post photos/wanted advert on there and you might get some offers . But sadly all these bits are the valuable bits. Handlebar levers are common , except the switch bracket . You’ll find these and i know I have at least one side (one has a handbrake, the other side is plain).
Hello remember me i saw you today in yout de-lorean you did thumbs up to me
