George P, only way to solve it is by taking the water block off and putting on some washers so the block get closer to the socket. (Found the solution on a forum somewhere) I returned the card for a full refund. Switched to another brand but only with water-cooling this time and not hybrid.

I got the card back from the local shop reporting my issue the techician said that he tight the screws to backplate and now the techinician siad he did benchmarks and didnt go above 75 on air . i put the card in my pc only air i runned heaven benchmark from cold star pc in 3-4 sec 84 c , pressing the card with my finger 67 c it even worse before i send the card . and thats the asus repply i got from them....we talk about over 1000 euros card. Well looks like i gonna punch someone really bad from that shop ... George P, thats because when the card is standing upright on a test bench the problem goes away. And when you use it in your tower and the card starts to sag, then the temperature rises. Try laying the tower down and see the temperatures get normal pretty quickly ;) But still... This is not ok for a card in the 800$ range. I had two in sli with the same problem on both.

having the card vertical should help although i havent tried to check that but i am pretty sure it s lies and excuse because of the cost and loss of returning the money or send back to asus and back to me a new card so i will have to go really mean and might end up sending again the card well if i could get full refund too would not be that bad although the same card sell 100-300 more if lucky to find some shop have ti active for sale from when i bought my card and just to get an idea the the only active with waterblock is the gigabite around 1200 euros

I hacked up some stuff i had lying around, nothing special. Theres a thing called gpu holder you can buy online if you dont wanna prop it up with your household items. And also my gpu fans are dead now. One is spinning at 100% only and making the whole table vibrate from that speed, and the other isnt spinning at all. I'll have to invest in water cooling... This gpu appears to be really poorly designed. :P

Uchiha Sasuke, yes.. very poor design. I returned it and got full refund. So I had to wait until now before I got new cards. I did not choose the same cards this time around. Have not opened the new boxes yet.

Also. This is under idle and no load. It reached thermal throttle really quick.

Couldn't return mine. Also by now one fan died, and the other only spins at 100% when it crosses 55C and doesnt slow down until I restart my pc. Oh and its a bit loose so it sounds like theres a freaking chainsaw in my room. That one 100% fan cools it sufficiently, but man the noise, I hear it through headphones playing games, and the table actually vibrates. >.> Looking to buy watercooling just don't have enough money yet.

Hi Kartig, the only thing you need is a regular (big) polarization filter to cover your glass "window". As far as I know it should not be relevant what type of polarization filter you use as long as you rotate it until you get a perfect clear image. In the video you can see a screen where i have removed the plastic polarization filter and used a solvant to clean away all the glue. Then as the polarization film was to blurry i had to find something else to see trough. I fortunatly had a polarization glass for my camcorder that i could test with. If i had turned the glass a few degrees in any direction it would go black. In many of the videos you will se people making glasses to use with this concept, and that makes it very sensitive against tilting your head sideways. Also good to know, even tough you cant see any picture on the video without the filter you can actually see a bit in real life. Hope to see your project when it is finished :)

No, it has to be a lcd. Both ips and retina would work, the polarizer is circular and clued very firmly on a amoled.

The mercury vapor is in the CFL lightbulb which is the backlight for the screen. So as long as you don't break the lightbulb, there's no risk of mercury. Newer "LED" screens don't have mercury at all because the screen is lit by LEDs instead of CFLs.
