Great lesson thanks 😎
Thank you for your kind words🙏 Yes, there are some nice guitar parts in this traditionally electronic group's song. Enjoy! 🎸😊
Brilliant video. Thanks a lot for this! :)
Thank you so much - you are most welcome! 🙏 It is a great song and a good example of how great bands can build epic songs out of essentially two base chords. Yes, enjoy that one! 😃🎸😊
I hope this doesn’t sound demanding in any way as I think of you as the expert! But I’m a beginner and I’m playing this on an acoustic guitar - I’ve got the grasp of the 1st bit, but you know the chords like ‘D’ and ‘F#’ and the others - where would I place my fingers? Only because I’m having trouble matching mine to the video
Firstly, thank you very much for your very kind feedback - I've never been considered an expert by anyone before! 😅 Regarding the chords, play open D chord but bring your thumb over the fifth and sixth strings to dampen them as you strum. For the F#, I would always urge new guitarists to barre your first finger across strings one, two and three at the second fret, and then place your second finger on the third string at the third fret. This is the least punishing fingering for new guitarists and this moveable shape is very handy. If you then remove your second finger, the chord becomes an F#m. With just those two simple shapes on any of the twelve frets, you will be able to play 90% of rock and pop songs. Thank you again for your support and just let me know if there are any songs that you would like me to cover in the future. Above all else, though, keep at the guitar and enjoy all of the degrees of progress that you make. 🙏🎸😃
@@britrockguitar Oh my gosh! You are most definitely an expert - Thank you so much for this it has helped me tremendously! I’ve been told the opening sounds exactly like the track & I learnt that from your video!! I wish all the best 🎸😁😁

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. 🙏 I usually only use a 3w amp for these beginner's videos but for this one I used a 30w Cube amp😅 Yes, my neighbours were also unimpressed...🎸🤪
What about the intro, I can’t find it anywhere
@@stevenish95 The opening notes are played on a piano but are just G (twice), open A, G, C and open D. These then lead into those chords that are in the video. Enjoy! 🎸😃
Great tutorial...no nonsense.Subbed.
And you, sir, are very welcome indeed! 🙏🤪🎸
No play through?🤷
I tend not to play the whole song through, mainly due to the longer video size and length. Also, some viewers will inevitably comment on the performance rather than viewing it as the (hopefully!) simple guitar tutorial that it is. 🎸😅
seriously? you're crediting weller, with craddock's guitar playing? don't get me wrong... weller can do little wrong, in my book... like his choice to use the great, and greatly underrated, steve craddock, for key guitar parts... like those which he plays on this brilliant song. cheers. 😊👍
Thank you for your excellent comments and you are absolutely right - Steve Cradock is a fantastic musician. OCS are one of my favourite bands and Cradock's playing with Weller has been consistently immense. Interesting fact: I went to the same school as Steve and lived just up the road from him! 😅

Thank you once again for your wonderfully kind comments about my choice of tutorials - I can clearly see that you understand where I am coming from with this channel! It would have been the easiest thing in the world for me to have done 30 Oasis songs, 30 Paul Weller, 30 The Verve, on so on, but I am trying to show the diverse guitar parts in each song, certainly in the longer tutorials. It might be a unique strumming pattern in one or, in this example, the 'chugging muting' (I'm sure that cannot be the technical term for it!). I really hope that your playing is coming along. 🙏🎸😊
Nice arrangement and very thorough . One thing - that 'E7' at the start is a straight-up E add 9 as I'm sure you know , it doesn't even have a b7 like an E9 .
Thank you for your very kind feedback - I do appreciate it. Yes, it is that opening chord that gives the song its mystical allure. Just listening to it again now, it sounds like an Em9. My tinnitus must have been playing up when I recorded this tutorial! 😅😅🎸🎸

@@beb4354 😁🎸Here's one i prepared earlier: czcams.com/video/NUK0yKCgGa8/video.html
Wrong chords, and rhythm. Listen to the song.
The chords are correct - in the band's official video the lead guitarist plays C. F and G, whilst the rhythm guitarists uses a capo at the third fret (I did state this in my description). I am not sure if you are a subscriber, but this channel is primarily for new guitarists - they would struggle with the chords relative to the capo aspect of the song, let alone the strumming pattern. However, in the interests of catering for all levels, here is a quick tutorial that you might find useful: czcams.com/video/UYIwlq_iNd8/video.html

Okay, I have just had another listen to the song and the last few chords sound like Noel's Gm variation chord, then D, then a series of chords using forward slash/D chords.
