Sabbath's reputation for their lyrics and their image, have always been in conflict. Because their image is dark, but the lyrics (mainly by Geezer) are positively life affirming, and very in support of Free Will, Love and Peace. A video about the genius of Bill Ward's drumming at the Drumeo channel caused me to go to to the lyrics of N.I.B. to see what is exactly being said. some people say my love cannot be true please believe me, my love, and i'll show you i will give you those things you thought unreal the sun, the moon, the stars all bear my seal follow me now and you will not regret leaving the life you led before we met you are the first to have this love of forever with me 'till the end of time Your love for me has just got to be real before you know the way i'm going to feel i'm going to feel i'm going to feel now i have you with me, under my power our love grows stronger now with every hour look into my eyes, you will see who i am my name is lucifer, please take my hand follow me now and you will not regret leaving the life you led before we met you are the first to have this love of mine forever with me 'till the end of time your love for me has just got to be real before you know the way i'm going to feel i'm going to feel i'm going to feel now I have you with me, under my power our love grows stronger now with every hour look into my eyes, you will see who i am my name is lucifer, please take my hand =================================================== Well. Lucifer and Satan are not the same deity. Or fallen angel. Or whatever you'd like to call them. They are not the same entity. Lucifer is the Morning Star. Lucifer is Venus. And even Christ was called the Morning Star. Satan only appears two times in the Bible. And not as he's been turned into. His first mention is in description, like as in an action. His second role is to wager with God over Job's faith. They make a bet. Literally. I've said elsewhere, and believe Geezer Butler to be a well read man, and I think he knows that there's a difference between these two. Because at no time does this song mention any evil being done by Lucifer in your allegiance to him. The whole song is about some Love. And this Love has to be real if you're going to love him. And I find that very interesting this juxtaposition, especially considering Lucifer is meant to be a light bringer. some people say my love cannot be true That Lucifer's love is a LIE, because he is the king of lies, right? ================================= please believe me, my love, and i'll show you Lucifer says no, they are wrong. My love is true. ======================================================================= i will give you those things you thought unreal In loving Lucifer, you will have all of your dreams. ================================================================ the sun, the moon, the stars all bear my seal These things that are real, what is your world, I had a hand in creating. They bear my name. ============================================================================================= Well the only time you'll find "The Devil" saying he created the sun, the moon and the stars, is in the early Gnostic Christian texts, where they believed the god of the Old Testament was the Devil himself. A blind god who was created by mistake, who has no connection to the Monad. The true source. The Invisible. The One. And that is the god that created this Earth. The Lord of This World. Yaldabaoth. But he's known as Yahweh to most of society, because of the Old Testament and Septuagint. And Yahweh was the Son of El. El is SATURN. (which lends to any credence to the lore of Nativity in Black being what N.I.B. stands for. Saturn is associated with blue and black, signifying discipline, responsibility, and stability.) And Yahweh is not a creator god. He is a god of war in ancient mythology. He starts off like Vulcan, like, representing blacksmiths and those who work with metals and fire. And this is why the Gnostic Devil has no clue where Adam is once Adam eats from the same tree that Eve does. Because he's not the god that put that tree there for them to learn of their own divinity, and that they are more powerful than he is. In varying Gnostic texts it's Christ himself that puts that tree there to warn these newly created human beings that their god is not the one God. In some it's Eve that puts the tree there, because the god of the old testament has gotten rid of Lilith, Adam's first wife, because she refuses to be subordinate to him. Which Adam is absolutely fine with, he knows Lilith is equal. The god of the Septuagint makes her out to be a demon. He makes Eve to replace her, but Eve knows even moreso that she is equal to Adam. And Adam knows it too. It's the god of the Old Testament that has a major problem with it. And the early Gnostic Christian texts tell you why there's these massive holes in the logic of both the Old and New Testaments. The early Gnostic Christian texts have some of the most powerful Women in Mythology. Sophia. Eve. Lilith. Mary Magdalene. Norah. (Eve's daughter left out of the Bible. She gets so pissed off that this false god has bargained a deal with Noah, who sells out the human species in promise of surviving the flood he's going to bring, because the human beings he's trapped in this world for their souls are once again realising their own divinity, and that they are closer to the true God than he is; that she destroys the Ark.) The Old and New Testaments go out of their way to tell you Women aren't any good. This is not what the early Christians said, nor any of the mystery religions. Women were as powerful as Men in these stories. they were always equal. The Roman Empire tried destroying every trace of this in creating Christianity. And I think Geezer might be aware of some of this. Lucifer in N.I.B. is an interesting character.
