I think the Falklands war really did change British politics, the Conserving learnt a very valuable lesson that doing nothing is a lot better than jumping in straight away, if they had sent down a task force straight away the war wouldn't have happened. But with no war she would have lost the 1983 election, letting it happen and responding afterwards gained the political support. From then on we have constantly seen this attitude of just wait and do nothing and see what happens. Because jumping in at the last minute can paint you as the hero. Johnson really took this to heart.

I would say in 1977 Operation Journeyman of 2 frigates a nuclear submarine and 2 supply ships was sent down to the Falklands. To deter an invasion, Thatcher was told to do Journeyman 2, but in her infinite wisdom ahe declined and did nothing.

Corvetts were used for convoy escorts. They were small vessels armed to sink subs. I've never heard of them referred to a sub-class of a destroyer so I believe you missed at least one class, likely more as there are patrol boats, torpedo boats and possibly frigates

The Higgins boats and other landing craft really won the war for us.

Not only was the sinking of U-64 by Warspite's Swordfish very useful in the terms of this engagement it was also the first ever sinking of a submarine by a ship launched plane. I swear this was the Grand Old Lady's way of throwing shade on every single Aircraft Carrier ever.
