Marbling Cotton for a Large Project.
zhlédnutí 63Před dnem
This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time. In this video I marbled cotton fabric for a large project. As usual, I had trouble deciding what colors to use. The fabric marbled beautifully! I also tested the back side of canvas “paper” - that was not a success. I have a few more experiments to try with this paper. Enjoy the video...
Monday Marbling! Cotton Fabric, Headbands and Paper Test
zhlédnutí 55Před 8 dny
This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time. In this video I marbled cotton fabric that will be used as the lining for a bag. I also marbled two headbands and tested new papers. The papers were a disappointment, but I will try again, prepping them slightly differently to see if that makes a difference. The fabric turned out grea...

This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time. In this video I marbled satin pieces for a top for my youngest daughter. I also marbled 14 count aida cloth for a cross-stitch pattern my daughter will be making. It was a very fun time at the tank. I can’t wait to find time to sew the top. It was quite hot in my garage, so this video...

This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time. In this video I water marbled three hats. In my opinion, they turned out great! I was sweltering in the garage, so it’s a quick video. I believe I will bling a couple of these. Water marbling is an ancient art form. I use acrylic paint floating on water to perform my art. Water Marbling Denim and Experimenting

This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time. In this video I marbled two pieces of denim. I plan to create a bag/purse. I also experimented with a new “tool” for marbling and with paint pouring paints for water marbling. It was a fun marbling session, but didn’t take long, so I added a paint pouring project! Taupe is a grayish brown and it goes real nice with teal.
I'll have to mix a taupe! Thank you.
What do you use for a sealer after you color your ornaments and wine glasses ? 😊
Thank you for watching. I use a spray sealer. On the glasses, I'm careful to tape off the upper part so the sealer only goes on the painted area.
What is the tray you are using ?
The tray is a custom tray built by my husband and myself. It's wooden.
This looks like a cool process but I have no idea what you did once you pulled it out of the paint.
Thank you for watching. I rinsed it in a bucket of tap water and hung them on the rack. At the end of the video, I show all the pieces hanging to dry.
What is in water. Is it thickened with Carrageenan powder
Thank you for watching. The water is slightly thickened with seaweed powder.
Love your work , buuuut it seems you sure waste alot of paint which is expensive, are you thinning down your paint?
@@francescrosse4301 Thank you for watching. It depends on the paint. Some floats as-is, some needs to be thinned.
Acrylic paint mixed with water? On just plain water
Thank you for watching. The paint is sometimes mixed with water, it just depends on the paint.
Your acrylic paint looks thin, did you mix it with something, if so what do you use and what is the ratio.
Thank you for watching! If needed, I thin it with distilled water. I cannot give an actual ratio, because it depends on the type of paint used, the brand and the color. Each paint (and brand) is slightly different. As stated in my book, it should be 2% milk consistency.
What is the ratio water to seaweed pwd.?
Everything you need to start is in here. aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
What are you mixing your acrylic paint with?
If necessary, it is thinned with water.
What kind of paint are you using? Thanks
Thank you for watching. It is acrylic paint.
What kind of paint are you using
Thank you for watching. This is acrylic paint.
THIS IS AWESOMEEEE❤
Thank you!
Would love to do this with my daughter! Looks like fun. You said you use seaweed powder. Where do you get that? And how much do you use? Thanks 😊
I sell seaweed powder. I also sell a kit to get you started, complete with an instruction booklet. www.etsy.com/shop/AqueousSilkLLC
Thank you for watching! :)
What are you using for your big tub/bin to put your water and dyes in?
Thank you for watching. It's just a plastic storage tub.
What do you use to seal these?
Thank you for watching. I use a spray sealer.
@@aqueoussilkllc9654 Thanks so much for Your reply..
Very pretty😊
Thank you for the kind words and for watching.
From where we can buy colours
Can you use this technique on watercolor paper?
Thank you for watching. I have not had success, but others have. My favorite is mulberry paper or a heavy rice paper.
New subscriber. Happened on your video tonight, this looks like fun! Do you have a tutorial on how to prep your water and paints?
Thank you for watching. Sorry it has taken a while to respond. Yes I do! You can find the book here: aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
Maybe i missed something. How do you stage the wine glasses so they'll dry and the paint doesn't run?
If, by stage you mean prep, I use alum like I do on all marbled items.
@aqueoussilkllc9654 no I mean after the dip, how do you set them down to dry?
I set them on floral frogs.
@aqueoussilkllc9654 think I learned more about floral frogs than one person should know. Never heard of them before. And now I have so many ideas how to use them!!!
What do you use to thin out the paint?
Thank you for watching. :) Distilled water.
Do you use a certain type of paint?
Thanks for watching! I use acrylic paint.
I am so fascinated now!. Would've loved to hacmve seen the pendant before you marbled it. Do you seal any of them after you're done? Going down a rabbit hole watching your videos 😂😂😂
The pendant was just white glitter in epoxy before marbled. I do spray seal the front of the pendant.
What type of paint do you use?
Thank you for watching. I use acrylic paint.
Their gorgeous!
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words.
The paintings made with marbling are very interesting.
Thank you. I want to keep trying until they look like I know what I'm doing! LOL
Como preparas tus pinturas para que floten tan bien y tengan bonito color? Gracias
I thin them with distilled water.

Oil-based + 🔥 doesn't seem like a very safe idea. Please Be careful.
That's what I thought, but it burned perfectly. No smell, no flare-ups. I did have the candle is a larger candle holder ... just in case.
Love your work ❤ I have just finished watching a lot of your videos 🙏 I have a question what do you make sure acrylic paints with… To break them down to being so fluid… Do you mind answering this question? Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching. I thin my acrylic paints with water, adding just a tiny bit of water each time until the right consistency is achieved. The amount of water varies depending on the consistency of the paint and by color.
… thank you for your answer… So it’s just straight acrylic paint, thinned down and nothing in the water tank?? Just water.
@@eliz1957 The water has seaweed powder mixed in. What is the water set up chemical? And what kind of paints used?
Thank you for watching. These are Easy Marble paints. It's just normal tap water in the bucket.
What is the water setup..chemical? And what kind of paint is used?
Thank you for watching. The water is mixed with seaweed powder. I use acrylic paint.
I like the things you do but once again I can barely hear you. Seriously how hard is it to adjust the volume?
Hi there, I really liked the colors choices 2nite! Can I ask you why you are putting the fabric in a zip-locks? Does it help with setting up the paint, or is there something else?
Thank you for watching!
Should I use Alum on the cotton shirts prior to dying?
Yes.
So beautiful!! You're truly a gifted artist!!!❤
Please fix your sound...it is really annoying.🤨
Thank you for watching. I forgot to turn on my microphone.
How does the paint stay on top of water?
Thank you for watching. The water is thickened slightly and the paint is thinned slightly. :)
If I do cotton aprons, is there something I need to do to set the color or anything? Or just let it dry, then rinse it out?
Thank you for watching. Heat press each piece with an iron set to a cotton setting.

Thank you so much!
What do you put on your hats as a fonisher?
Nothing. I just let them dry. They can be sprayed with a fabric protectant, but it’s not necessary.

Hello
Thank you. Can you use Alum. Where can you get the seaweed powder. Thank you
Alum is for prepping the item you are marbling, not for thinning paint. I sell the seaweed powder. 😁
What are yr ingredients what do you use in yr water. Thank you
Thank you for watching. I use acrylic paint and water, thickened with seaweed powder.
I wish you would get a better mic...it is difficult to catch all that you are saying. Other than that....I enjoy your process.
Thank you for watching. I hope the sound is better soon.
♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for watching and for the hearts! :)
What about the inside of the brim? Do you marble or keep white? and how do you keep it white?
Thank you for watching! It's also marbled. If I wanted to keep it white, I could tape it off, but with fabric, the color may bleed into that area anyway, so I just let it happen naturally.
