Hi bro! Glad you like the vids. I'd say that you should view it as your career actually starting as a professional rather than view it as you being a student/apprentice who's starting their career after the apprenticeship is finished. It's not like university where you can party the whole time lol... at least that's what I did first time round. You will see a range of people... some who don't care (or act like it) and other's who are like child geniuses - there's people in my cohort with insane work ethic, multiple jobs, and/or other income from their skills in tech etc. and they're school leavers. Also you will be working with people with 5/10/20 years exp, so just learn as much as you can from them. Anyway if you work very hard and take the opportunity seriously, you can be very important/skilled in a particular area very quickly. This will mean more opportunity once you finish or while you complete the programme == more money, in most situations, especially compared to people who just took a normal degree. Otherwise just believe in yourself and try the best you can :) Good luck on your apprenticeship!

In terms of professional roles that link Finance and Tech, I’d say there will be business/finance/investment analyst, where you’d maybe use Python/R for statistical analysis of company products or markets their interested in? Otherwise you might be a data scientist maybe? Where you look at trying to gather data form various sources and model solutions for a company. This data could be financial data or not, but the solutions from this data generally try to optimise business processes, which in turns makes the business money. with respect to finance, I’d suggest you google and find an exact field/role you want. As accountants will do different roles to analysts, or finance governance… so what in finance you actually want to specialise in. If you find your role, you’d be better set for trying to link tech to it. In terms of degree apprenticeships, I haven’t seen many cross related between finance and software. Working for a finance company as a software degree apprenticeship might be the way forward if you’re super interested in tech and need to be in the industry (but I’d assume you’d start as a trainee data analyst before going into further things). The same thing about finding your specialism in tech is relevant also. Because if you find yourself wanting to be a network engineer and a finance analyst… I don’t see how they cross paths. Where as if you say you want to do Machine Learning - this will be useful in modelling finance analyses👍🏾 I see you’ve reached out on LinkedIn so will talk there😊

Hi bro, I got A, B, B, (Maths, Physics, Chemistry respectively), I went to uni and did a different degree before this degree apprenticeship if you’re asking about university grades I’m avging about 75% atm😊

Grades do matter so check each application, as entry requirements do differ. The above link states you be accepted for a degree apprenticeship if you have a qualification of: BTEC/NVQ/A-level. So it looks like you’ve got nothing to worry about. @@Illackthat’s sick I went uni as well and got onto a degree apprenticeship in a different field. Felt like I was taking a step back but glad to know there’s others who have followed the same path

I’ve seen that applications are during the period Jan-March every year, with interviews shortly after for most companies… so probably wanna get a move on if you haven’t got anything ready yet😊 If you mean age wise, I’m not sure. I’ve done this after already getting my first degree, so I guess they also take mature students. Although I don’t know if there’s a cap on how many mature students would get employed🤔

@@olamstevy No problem! I’d say apply to as many as you want. Just find which one you like and apply, but just keep in mind which one you want most. Let’s say you apply to 20 and you get offered interviews for all, you may not be able to attend all. At that point you’ll get to pick which one you want👍🏾

Good question. I had STEM background but I had 0 knowledge of computer systems or programming, apart from some very basic research. I could print hello world and that was about it. I'd say get across that you've got the right skills by showing: you are analytical, have inquisitive thinking, open minded to learning FAST, and genuinely interested in software engineering. Research things you actually care about in software engineering (apart from salary lol). I briefly read company annual statements for companies I attended interviews for, did some basic research on IoT, Blockchain technology (distributed ledger tech), metaverse, and I asked my current manager (and others at other companies) about these things, and how the company is going to utilise blockchain technology in supply chain (I saw an article they were doing so). If you've not got a stem background, it tells me you're changing careers... so maybe dive into more about why you've decided to change careers, that proves you are mindful as well, sometimes soft skills is what can get you the job, because there is a lack in stem ahah... my opinon. It might seem like overkill, but if you actually care, I'd say do it. If the employer is good, they'll respect you for doing that research, and if you get rejected then it won't hurt finding out more about what you're interested in.
