Omw I'm legit so excited to watch Eddie Izzard bring this to life!!

This film version may be of its time, but you'd have to go a long, long way to find actors capable of performances like these. Andrew Kier is a perfect fit for Quatermas, a gruff, no nonsense scientist who at the same time is open to new possibilities. Kier plays him note perfect, authoratative yet sensitive and awed by his discoveries. The actor who plays Sladden is perfect as a man terrified by revelations he cannot comprehend ; the scene in the church particularly stays in the memory. The supporting cast all rally to the cause and create believable characters. The sign of good actors is that no matter how fantastical the subject and the roles they are asked to play, they do so convincingly without any hint of disbelief. The actors in this film version certainly do that with distinction.

This is one of my favorite horror/sci-fi movies. I first watched this waaaaaaaay back in 1968. It scared me then and still gives me chills today. A classic!
