Would love to buy this record from you.
Is this for sale? I've been looking for this one for ages.
Thank you! We had this record when I was a kid in 50’s and listened this a lot. ❤ I don’t know what happened to the record. Later in the 80’s I played drums in Big Band.
Leuk hoor!
Absolutely beautiful, plain and simple as it should be. The guitar accompaniment was also perfect, take no notice of mouldy above.
👍👍👍👍
Oh heavens...this is the most beautiful interpretation of Deep Purple that I've heard yet. Bebe Daniels was a beautiful face, with a beautiful voice.😚
Could you do it again without the last note being cut of| 🙂? But thanks anyway. Is it really Vera's first record?
Oh dear. Nothing wrong with the singer or the band, but what have they done to remove all the life from this great number ? Thanks for posting it.
How is it possible that these songs are forgotten? Even though I am so young and barely know this song, how is it possible that these types of music are not known more? With such a beautiful melody, guided by such beautiful lyrics, We need these kinds of songs to be famous again, this kind of music cannot be found anywhere, a gem of music, a song that no one currently knows, and for it to be just a song on CZcams that no one knows is very unfair.
got this on a 45. Great stuff.
Any idea of the full personnel on the record?
Milt Buckner plays one on Lionel Hampton's 20th Century Boogie.

A relatively short and very underrated song by Tommy James & the Shondells. I like this mono recording. It sounded like a clear transmission on a good AM radio.
Thank you for showing the record. I was playing beautiful music like this in the 1950's on 78 r.p.m records that my parents purchased. I was a child.
This record was pressed with microgroove like the 33 and 45 rpm records.
The fidelity is terrible on this record. It needs remastering. It was probably played a lot on a wind up Victrola with a steel needle.
This record extremely rare, and I am grateful for it be uploaded, would love to hear it in better quality, but there were only 100 copies ever made, of which barely and versions survived to this day, a handful at least, but most of them have experienced the wrath of time, with a view of them that might be of higher quality!
Can I buy this from you??
The black record of music is broken that's sure! U- Tube
Sandy Brown on clarinet!
Recorded on February 2, 1934. Originally released on {American} Columbia 2907-D. Benny Goodman, clarinet Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax Manny Klein, trumpet Charlie Margulis, trrumpet Sonny Lee, trombone Arthur Schutt, piano Dick McDonough, guitar Gene Krupa, drums Vocal Chorus by Mildred Bailey
My introduction to classical music was Carl Stalling (Looney Tunes), Liberace & WQXR!
Great version of this song but boy the similarity between this song and "Keep a twinkle in your eye" is remarkable. They never get away with that today 🤣
Shirley Collin's voice is angelic in this recording.
Oh wow, I said... when she comes in for that solo bit in the middle... genius
How have your recorded this? With a mike in front of the speaker? Not very good sound!
I have decided to Archive this song using the waybackmachine today the 20th May 2023, of May, I also downloaded a copy incase. It is too valuable to get lost to time.
Maestro Duke And His Men 🎹🍷🗽🇺🇸💫
Sounds like music for Tom & Jerry! 😊
awesome
Sir thanks you for sharing this wonderful piece of music, that otherwise would have been forgotten! Thanks you from the bottom of my heart.
Who else has come to this after watching Their Finest?
Angie !!!!....Danny !!!!... Ah comment vas-tu vieux frère ??...Je suis content d'te voir Angie !!!...👍👍👍
My new favourite Maurice Winnick number
The melancholy tempo almost makes the song sound drunk. This is interesting.
November 18th 1939, according to the Book.
Anyone who has loved and lost will understand this beautiful song. Thank you.
Hello... Hope you don't mind my commenting but I would be very interested in buying this record if you would be willing to sell? I'm also based in the UK :-)
This recording is so rare that it would cost a fortune, only 100 copies were made.
@kelvinvenema7051 I am indeed aware :-) would absolutely adore to have it
@kleister123456 I get it I would love it aswell, but chances are relatively big, there are another two copies at least, but they are probably in the hands of private collectors.
@@kelvinsurname7051 I'd like to have it too. Not sure it's ever showed up on eBay...
@littleshoemaker I think the chances of this record showing up on ebay is close to non-existing, and if it were ever to be sold, then I expect it to be more at least 1000-6000 euros, in worn condition, since this is a private piece and only 100 copies were ever made, of which probably a handful still exist, and a view of those with less wear and tear!
Fabulous recording! So cheerful and fun.
anyone got the lyrics to this?
My husband used to sing this. He sang it slightly different words and at a faster pace. I have a short recording of him singing it years ago.
Vocalist: Julie Dawn
Classic.
I always wonder why the lock groove swings around like that. Why do they cut it like that and not like the standard ways from the 50's and on?
More likely late 1939, as other bands such as Jay Wilbur had their versions of this morale-boosting song out at that time
I just was reading about Dinah and wanted to hear her voice. I like her singing! She has good tone and character.
She made several excellent records with Jack Harris's orchestra, as well. This is one of my favorites: m.czcams.com/video/XXeRhPGtVSY/video.html
@@phaasch Oh sorry I only just saw your reply. I'll look at the link in a bit! I really want an LP of hers.
💥Robert Farnon was amazing 💥
Featured in an episode of 'The Prisoner', "The Girl Who Was Death".
We just heard this on Dad's Army. It is very beautiful♥️ Thank you for posting 🕺💃🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
Wonderful, thanks for uploading.
I have been trying to identify this theme for years! My mother and I used to listen to the show "Dinner Concert" on WQXR in New York while driving to pick up my Dad in Brooklyn in the early 1960's. At the impressionable age of 13 I always found the theme song rather haunting. I finally found the name of the piece on a website of old theme songs from that radio station and then found your post on CZcams, listening with tears in my eyes for the first time in nearly 60 years. My mother just passed away and it was a welcome memory. Thank you!
