David Hilderman: CO2 Emissions and Atmospheric Levels | Nelson Pod #220
David Hilderman has a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Electronic Information Systems Engineering from the University of Regina and has worked in the electronics industry since graduation in 1988.
David grew up in Saskatchewan, the second oldest in a family of six boys. Since 2000 he has lived in beautiful Saanichton British Columbia, raising two great kids with his lovely wife. He went to the Victoria area to combine his engineering experience and love of music production to work for TC-Helicon, a company that makes products for performing musicians. He worked there for 19 years, five of which were in the role of Chief Operating Officer.
Early 2020 he became aware of the fact that sea level rise rates were not accelerating. In Victoria, the rate of rise has not changed over the entire record since 1909 and is only 0.75mm/yr. This began his research in other climate alarmist claims. Reality is so counter to the narrative and the consequences of acting on the narrative are so detrimental that he felt he needed to do something about it.
In 2021 he ran in the federal election against the Green Party incumbent, Elizabeth May, and had the opportunity to debate her on the issue of climate five times. He continues to be active in his community, working to educate people on the benefits of increasing atmospheric CO2.

at 27:30 Mr. Baker says how can you be so certain that climate is so complex we can't understand it yet you are certain that it is not human caused" or words to that effect (I'm not perfect) yet Mr. Nelson did not say it "was not human caused" what he said was that CO2 was not the climate control knob. I believe that Mr Baker inadvertently (Conditioned reaction?) made the same switch that he just accused Mr. Nelson of making. I know this is a logical fallacy, one of the informal ones I think, but can't recall which one. Boiling, heat, and what people said and believe. Mr Baker wants to give a pass to people whom are whipping up panic and the like because they didn't "literally" believe that the oceans where boiling. But what else do we have to go on but what they say. these are all manner of people in positions of power and influence etc. they are not "Florida Man..." so they are either not capable of articulating a valid argument, or unwilling, or intentionally not doing so and trying to wip up hysteria that works in accordance with their self interest. but Stop giving them a Pass saying "oh, well they didn't 'literally' mean..." and stop trying to just presume that what is in play is what you 'think' that they meant. I should quite now. I am only forty minuets into this and I am wearing out my keyboard! kudos to you Mr. Nelson well handled. ug, I said I would stop. here I go again. about 48:00 Mr Baker asserts that the 'other side' position is that if we don't know then we should do nothing and states that he can't understand the logic. the implication is that if you don't know anything you should do something. that is an illogical position. Mr. Baker doesn't likely know my shoe size, does that mean he should 'do something' about it. perhaps form an action committee! the UN investigates some internet guy's shoe size. send donations now. So,.. if someone's position is to take the group though, common, prevailing, position on an issue until proven otherwise. Are they not asking some person to prove a negative? isn't there an underlying problem there... After listening to Mr. Baker I would suggest A Conflict of Visions, and Vision of Anointed both by Thomas Sowell okay I will quit I promise. Mr Nelson's words are better than mine anyway.

The real reason the Ruling Elite want to decrease atmospheric CO2 is because they know it will dramatically reduce plant grown, which will massively reduce crop production. Reducing atmospheric CO2 is a way to enact world-wide genocide through starvation, so they don't have to "get their hands dirty" to accomplish their population reduction agenda. The REAL secret of the "Climate Crisis" hysteria is that it is just an intentionally-engineered 21st Century Holodomor, but on a GLOBAL scale...

38:28 well...thats it! This man is not a serious person! He's actually citing models! MODELS!!! The models that have repeatedly failed and can't possibly predict the future climate. The computer models will never come close to making accurate predictions for the simple reason of....you have to actually know of every single influence and factor on and in the global climate which...we DO NOT! Not even close. Then...you have to be able to accurately model these factors. The "science hippies" (shout out to ZeFrank) still....STILL can't figure out how to model clouds. CLOUDS!!! A major influence on climate! Hell, weather predictions which we've learned a massive amount on....are worthless 5 to 7 days out. Ever notice the hurricane predictions? Like 20 climate models with lines and points all over the place. Sure, we have got much better st predicting them but... Only about 5 days out with anything remotely associated with accuracy! Q Bottom line ... I've developed a simple rule. Anyone that claims CO2 is solely responsible for global temp increases is NOT a serious person and either a sheep that actually believes what politicians and the legacy media says or...is a coward in their profession and protecting either their jobs or their govt research grants. The govt doesn't give grants to anyone that dares challenge the CO2 narrative. Climate change is a political tool being used to control the global economy, give energy production control solely to govts and ultimately to destroy the middle class. If a person can't listen to these people and understand what they are saying and what they are doing....is a fool unable to think for themselves. Sheep!

The part about James Hansen is incorrect and an obvious parroting of long debunked nonsense! He was not talking about what it would look like in 20 years. He was talking about how it would look in 40 years if Co2 levels doubled. Which would put Co2 levels at 560ppm by 2028. We're currently at 427ppm so it looks like that won't happen. However, Henson's prediction of a doubling of Co2 is not far off! At current sea level rise, when Co2 reaches 560ppm, some parts of the West Side Highway may be underwater as sea level may rise as much as 10 inches or more! That number will likely go up as it isn't factoring in thermal expansion or possible feedbacks, up to and including, melting glacier/icecap albedo changes, permafrost changes, etc!

I was looking at this study on dandelions grown at different altitudes. Adaptations and responses of the common dandelion to low atmospheric pressure in high altitude environments. They found changes in root size. The also found differences in the amount of different chemical compounds that the plant produced. We can imagine that the nutrient profile may alter in different ways if the atmospheric density increased. Further, if pressure increased at higher elevations, we can imagine that some plants would be able to grow further up mountains to higher elevations currently inhospitable to most plants.

You are indeed missing something important. The total mass of the atmosphere increases as the amount of CO2 increases. CO2 has roughly 66% more mass per mole than air so every gigaton of CO2 that enters the atmosphere increases the total mass of the atmosphere by .66 gigaton

@@davidhilderman You do mention it but don't include it in your calculations. For every mole of CO2 that is added, one mole of O2 is removed. Burning fossil fuels doesn't actually 'add' CO2 to the atmosphere. It converts O2 into CO2. You have to account for the loss of one mole of O2 for each mole of CO2 that you 'add' One mole of CO2 is only a net increase of 12 grams to the atmosphere not 44grams.

Thank you for this excellent video. The atmospheric mass reduction could also be from a solar micronova that blew some of it away. Mars may have suffered this fate. Another key point is C3 plants suffer badly at low CO2. They stop reproducing at 150ppm. In the last glacial maximum, the levels at 180ppm mean that plants would grow poorly and at higher elevations, there were no plants. Food production would be very difficult. The Gobi plateau would be a desert. This explains all the dust in the ice cores.

Globally , every year 489,000 people die from extreme hot temperatures and 4,594,000 people die from extreme cold temperatures . Google it for yourself . Extreme cold temperatures kills 9 times as many people globally as extreme hot temperatures. Trying to reduce CO2 to keep the planet from warming , is the stupidest idea mankind has ever thought of . Stupidity and greed can not be allowed to prosper.

If you go to the Mauna Loa research station website and go to the web page with the “trace gasses” folder to download the CO2 data, there is another interesting downloadable document on that web page, the CHANGE HISTORY for the climate temperature history. That document records every time they changed a temperature in the past. There you will see they are going to past hot days and lowing the temperatures in the past, which results in the past looking COOLER THAN IT REALLY WAS AND GIVING A LOWER AVERAGE TEMPERATURE THAN WAS ACTUALLY RECORDED! They claim they do this to correct bad measurements in the past because of things near the thermometer 🌡️ that maybe causing an incorrect measurement, like the thermometer was not in the shade, or it was near an exhaust fan, or too close to asphalt pavement that heats up from the sun or too close to something reflective cooling the thermometer. But if you LOOK at all the changes in the CHANGE HISTORY document they almost always lower record HOT 🥵 days in the past and that results in the past appearing cooler than it really was, because today many thermometers 🌡️ have the same problems as the past and NO ONE IS FIXING THIOSE PROBLEMS!

If you completely ignore all the climate change, nonsense science, and look at everything else going on in the environment and in agriculture 👨🏻‍🌾 you will learn that farmers in the USA 🇺🇸 greatly over fertilize with nitrogen fertilizers and NASA has documented on maps that almost ALL of the fisheries along our coasts have been sterilized of fish because of the nitrogen runoff from agriculture going far out into the oceans and killing the fish. Sewage from cities along the coasts running into the oceans 🌊 is also adding to the death 💀 of our once greatest and healthiest food source! So the rational thing to do with NO CONSIDERATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE would be to move all the cities well off the coasts, turn all our coasts into national parks that have limited access and make sure sewage treatment doesn’t run into the oceans and also leave agriculture wherever the soils are best but highly regulate the fertilizer usage and do not allow any runoff from farms to go into the oceans or even local streams. These practices would massively increase the amount of food available to human’s on Earth 🌎and coincidentally it would make climate change irrelevant!😮

Adding onto the sea level topic, a lot of data starting at about the mid 80's is complete garbage. That's when they started using satellites to measure sea level, and I don't know if you've ever been on the ocean, but trying to measure a baseline between all the waves with mm precision from a device that's miles above the earth, traveling at hundreds of miles per hour, with a decaying orbit is just not possible. Not to mention that tacking data obtained by one method onto a dataset obtained by another method is extremely unscientific.

Sea level records that i use are hourly physical measurements. I agree, measuring sea level with a satelite makes as much sense as measuring me with a satelite.

Satellite data has been corroborated with buoy data. And has been found to be accurate within just a few millimeters. Not only that, but sea level data is globally averaged and not relied upon by JUST satellite data. It's averaged using BOTH satellite and buoy data. Nice try though!🤦‍♂

If you look at the changes in temperatures on the Earth 🌏 on the 450 million year chart you will see that the Earth is NOW in a Holocene that is much cooler than previous Holocene’s but don’t worry we are rapidly warming, on the upswing, just like in the past! Thus, the natural trend is to get much warmer and has nothing to do with our CO2 emissions.

  • @Nostrudoomus

You left out of your list CO2 sinks, the fact that CO2 is highly attracted to combining with water! So when it does enter into a tiny water droplet 💧 in water vapor in the atmosphere, chemistry 🧪 tells us it MUST give up its heat to that water droplet and if it adds enough heat the droplet will evaporate and that will cause evaporative cooling which deletes calories in the atmosphere, in other words the heat from the CO2 makes the atmosphere cooler not warmer. 😮

How much CO2 is there in the atmosphere by percentage, how much is 415 ppm, very easy to calculate, it’s 0.0415%! So the change since the first modern measurements is 0.01% <~~ is this an amount that can be measured accurately with high confidence or is it just NOISE IN THE INSTRUMENT? AND how do they no CO2 CAUSES global warming, it’s more likely CO2 increases as the planet warms evolved by the oceans 🌊 and does not cause any warming at all because water vapor and evaporative cooling neutralizes any increased warmth!

UC DAVIS has long had a website on the university website that has a long article about nitrogen and Boreal forests and it states that the nitrogen in those forests young granitic soils functions as nitrogen fertilizer and whenever in the past CO2 has increased in the atmosphere the boreal forest grew rapidly and sequestered the CO2 increase by the forest growing very rapidly because in the Boreal forests natural nitrogen fertilizer is not the limiting factor, CO2 is the limiting factor! And they don’t know why mycorrhiza bacteria are not needed for this to happen but they say mycorrhiza is definitely NOT needed and this needs to be studied! BUT the larger point is nature has been handing CO2 spikes for a LONG TIME! 😅

It’s measured on a VOLCANO 🌋 in Hawaii, Mauna Loa, often stated as the most active volcano 🌋 on EARTH 🌎! The amount is supposed to be the amount at sea level, but they don’t measure it at sea 🌊 level, CO2 DECREASES as you go up in elevation!
