Striper fishing from a Kayak is great during the fall and winter, less boat traffic and its all yours. Stripers are very active this time of the year and you don't have to paddle far. One of the advantages of using a kayak is when the corp pulls the water down most if not all the ramps become closed. Not a problem on a plastic tub.

Saint Joseph State Park Cape San Blas Florida. This is the boardwalk that takes you over to the beach from the camping area. Great beach great fishing great times. One of the last natural area's in Florida.

what type of bait tank are you using?
Trout. on this day, alot easier to keep alive. Blue back herring and large minnows and shad are available at most bait shops. I would start at Hammonds bait and tackle . and yes fish are safe.
I am new to fishing in freshwater and also to Lake Lanier. Just got a Predator Kayak for Christmas. What type of bait fish did you use? Also, are fish off Lake Lanier safe to keep? Thanks!!
Freddy Gaitan I fish Lanier on the regular. Your bait will change through the year depending on water temps. Get on Facebook and look for Lanier Area Kayak Enthusiasts group, lots of us on there fish Lanier a lot, great place to get together with some experienced guy who will take you out and show you how to get some tight lines. Welcome to the greatest most rewarding sport ever.
I know you mentioned you let out 20-30 feet of line, but how do you ensure the line falls to the appropriate depth?

First of all your rod and reel is way overkill if you want to have any fun reeling them in
+9929kingfish First of all, you need the right tackle when trolling. You don't want rods that completely bend over to little pressure. Additionally, stripers can get pretty massive.
9929kingfish not overkill on Lanier, the record on this lake for a Stripped Bass is 47lbs and change...striper are an extreamly hard fighting fish, light tackle for these guys is considered a Medium light power rod with 10-12lb test. Personally I use 50lb braid with 15lb fluorocarbon leader.
Why not just put the pole between yer legs and have him tow you around while you steer with the paddles?
