Is it possible to achieve with the otc richie any of the benefits in terms of plantarflexing the first ray that you get with a custom brace? Like if one twisted the forefoot relative to the rear foot whilst securing the brace to the foot would it hold the first ray in that twisted down position?

I can't find a shoe for my Richie brace. I have looked everywhere. I spent nearly two hundred dollars out of pocket but can't use my brace. Pls help me.
Dr Richie you are the man!!! A lot of these doctors don't have a CLUE!! Now that I have developed a condition with my foot and ankle I'm realizing that a lot of people that are walking with a cane a walker and using a wheelchair are probably doing so because their doctor was negligent in their care and did not seriously address their problem in the beginning. Most of the doctors I have seen a brushing me off like it's no big deal rushing me out of the office. They barely examine me. I have flat foot with ankle valgus that needs aggressive attention. I learned that from you, to get that done because this situation is not going to get any better. I can tell the doctors are waiting for me to get worse and it hurts because I don't want to get worse. You can clearly see the deformity in my foot and ankle yet the doctors continue to act like it's no big deal and will not prescribe a brace for me. Dr. Richie please help me while there's still time if you are able to. I know you're retired now unfortunately but if you feel you can help me please contact me at 757 -807- 1428. Thank you God bless you. They told me I'm not bad enough for the Richie brace. What kind of mess is that! They're waiting for me to get bad instead of preventing me from getting worse.

I’ve bought socks that extend above the top of the brace and readjusted the lateral supports so there is less chance of digging into my calf. It seems to help.
a compression stocking may also help , " may " , I found it worth trying .
Unlike me I was born with flat feet that are so bad that orthotics don’t work so I have to use braces
I’ve worn this brace for 10 years and it is very uncomfortable! Bought a new brace from insightful products half the weight and very comfortable!
I just got this brace and find it binds across the top of the top of the foot where I had a tendon repair. Also digs into my calf. Looking to get it readjusted. I also find it hot!
Did your brace give you bruise or blisters on the sides? Mine does I just got mine Monday
@@samanthacarnes6576 I readjusted the straps in the front making them looser. I also bought socks that extend higher than the brace. Also make sure that the brace runs straight up the calf and not angled. Hope this helps.

Susan Betz I found these braces on Amazon for less than $50. Not sure exactly which model this one is in the video.
Medicare covers about 80% and if you have a supplemental insurance, it should cover the rest. You will need a prescription to get the brace. Usually either a podiatrist or orthopedist will evaluate you and give you a prescription which you will take to an orthotist who will make the brace. Some podiatrist/orthopedist can order the brace for you so you may not have to go to the orthotist.
Richie brace is custom-made. They first make a plaster or fiberglass mold of the foot and lower leg. The mold is then used to make the brace. These braces are pretty expensive. The ones you found on Amazon is pre-fabricated.
