Hy there, let's take it step by step: first, to connecting your TV to your laptop you need a cable, most likely a HDMI, but before buying the cable check what communication ports your TV has). Once you have the cable you can connect the TV to your laptop (through the cable) and from the laptop you can choose to use the TV as external monitor, to duplicate or extend your desktop (remember to go in the TV settings and select the source of the signal: select PC or HDMI, whatever option will be available). The instructions above are to use the TV as a second or external monitor. To use the TV as ...well... a simple TV, you have the make sure you select the correct signal source from the TV's settings (so the input signal will not be taken from the HDMI cable (from the laptop) but from the Ethernet or Coaxial cable you have for the regular TV signal). Regarding the remote and how to correctly pair it with the TV, repeat the auto-search steps until all or most buttons work. So you hold SET, you wait the see the volume appear on the screen, you test several buttons on the TV to see if they work. If they do: Congratulations, job done, if they do not, repeat the above until they work. You can see in my video that the correct code was not found from the first attempt, it took several attempts until I got the correct code. I have looked into your question and unfortunately, the specific RM-014S+ remote control is not guaranteed to work with all JVC Smart TVs (it may work with some but not with all). What you can do is try an automatic search: press "set+power" and wait for a light to turn on, next press "power" and wait to see if the "volume" information appears on your TV display (it may take a while). If you see the "volume" displayed press "set" and the remote control light should turn off, meaning the remote has been programmed. I would suggest a remote lock after this, press "set+ok" and this should be it. Good luck!

sorry to hear you can't get the remote to work, check the user manual or the product package for the specific code associated to your TV type and model. (PS. not all aftermarket remote controls work with all TV types and models)

@@testing-stuff No LOL, the model in this video is the AE1000 whereas I've got the AE1200WH. Quite honestly it's a bit daft if you can't change the day.

Thanks for your comment, your are right, the rules and regulations differ between Europe and the US. (the operating frequencies, the maximum power output, the electrical mains voltage, all different). So the radios in my video are the EU market version.
