Welcome to "lignum" channel. Here I'll be uploading videos of cool projects I do over the time. I come from Croatia, I have bachelors degree in civil engineering and wood is my specialty. I'll be making woodwork videos ranging from small daily to larger weekly or even monthly projects some of which you can already see on this channel. In my production I use many kinds of hand tools, power tools and other woodworking and metal working machines. Two KUKA industrial robots help me get my ideas from paper to reality.

It has been a while since last post but here we are.. :) I have four videos already filmed but I'm so swamped with work that I have almost no free time to edit. As soon as I move in, videos will come regularly I promise;) In this episode I cover the work on steel fences on the staircase and upper floor. also a wooden fence on the second floor. The steel fences are made out of 8mm steel rods and...
Yet Another Spring (bass) is Upon us :)
zhlédnutí 54KPřed 2 měsíci
After 40 years of growing in our back yard, the big walnut tree started drying up and undermining our workshop foundations so we decided to put it to a good use and transform a little piece of it into one of our spring basses. With this 30'' short scale we continue to extend our line of basses of all scale sizes from 23'' to 42''. A lot of people watching my last guitar video liked the no music...
Underfloor Heating - My House Build Pt:17
zhlédnutí 47KPřed 4 měsíci
House update video! Turn on the CC for captions. This episode will cover the floor insulation, underfloor heating and dry screed. I started with hydro insulation, a bitumen primer and then the bitumen sheating. After bitumen, we installed the thermal insulation with heating pipes on top of it. Everything was covered in dry screed as the final step. Much more details in video subtitles. Thank yo...
Tiny but Powerful - Building a Custom 23" Short- Scale Bass From Scratch

After all those "I wish your videos were longer" comments, I decided to make a half an hour video. Also something you haven't seen before, not a single frame in this video is speed up. Everything is 100% the same speed as it was done. This gives more of the chance to see finer details and a closer idea of the time it takes to finish a project like this. As for the instrument, my brother drew th...

Custom Cases for our Custom Basses
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 6 měsíci
Our signature Nate Navarro bases are a success! After first orders came in, we had to make a suitable containers for them since no market ready cases are big enough for them. I hope you will enjoy this a little bit different video from what you are accustomed to. No music this time, just workshop noises and frames speed up 500% at the most. Just make sure to turn on the CC for more info:) Enjoy...
Painting Magic, Watch my Wooden Facade Come Alive- My House Build Pt:16
zhlédnutí 71KPřed 8 měsíci
Scaffolding is gone! :) After more than a year of looking at the ugly scaffolding, the time has finally come to see how the house will actually look like. In this part of the series, we started doing finishing work on interior walls, we did some drywall and most importantly, the facade of the house got its final look. Make sure to turn on the CC for subtitles to find out more information on wha...
Larch cladding is going up- My House Build Pt15
zhlédnutí 65KPřed 9 měsíci
It has been a long time since last video I published and even longer since my last house update. In the meantime, a lot has been done with the interior and exterior and for this episode, I chose to show what we did with the siding. The larch planks were planed and painted in protective coat almost a year ago and were stored in the workshop until about a month ago when we started the assembly. I...

This is second video of a project we are currently working on. The roof is covered with tiles and all the windows are installed. There are still a few details we have to complete in the following week and repair a few broken tiles from yesterdays storm which threw parts of the scaffolding onto the roof. With this job done, I can finally spend some time on my own house!:) Hopefully new videos ar...

Plastering - My House Build Pt14

A lot of time has passed since my last house video so here is what we were up to lately. First idea was to put drywall on all the masonry surfaces by myself but as spring came and construction season approached, I couldn't spare so much time for this big part of the build so I hired professionals. Also, my thought processes was if I'm hiring someone, quality should be a priority so I chose plas...

zhlédnutí 62KPřed rokem
Our first glow in dark prototype is complete! We worked on this project on and off when we found time along with our other projects and we can't be happier how it turned out. The body is a little bit modified spring bass model while the head is similar to the Nate Navarro's sub octave bass. Wood used for this project is zebrano, maple and wenge. Also mahogany and ash veneer for in between the l...

Plumber did almost complete water installation, unfortunately i had other project at the same time so I couldn't film his work in detail but did managed to capture some of it to give you an idea of how it is done. I also managed to pull all the electrical cables throughout the house so the walls are now more or less ready f...

A short video of a project we started recently, a bit slower pace this time.. Don't forget to turn on the CC for captions where i explain a bit more. House is 100 square meters plus the attic for storage. Cross section of wood elements is 6x16cm for wall, 6x20 ceiling and roof, 16x16 beams and posts. This type of build is not so common here in Croatia but it's getting more and more popular with...

outstanding job
Masyaallah. Luar biasa.
Beautifully produced video. Subbed, pt2 awaits me.
I'm late on this one because of a bout of flu, but: - The inner garden is gorgeous! And having every plant in its own pot, genius. - Being your house flooded with natural light from almost every angle, the chosen dark tile colour palette looks great. - I'm nonetheless puzzled by your waterproofing the bathroom (4:50) before applying the tiles. I mean, the tiles adhesive is supposed to be waterproof and so are the grout and the tiles. Or is it something done usually in your area to mitigate earthquake damage (cracks)?
Fantastic job! Is there anything you two can't do? The tile work and plant area design are impressive. The shower sink is very sleek and modern, though it does require frequent cleaning, as usual. I have a similar one installed in my bathroom. Can't wait for your next videos! Cheers!
Class quality and taste, you're house has it all! Endlessly impressive man!
dont tell my cats that its possible to make indoor garden😂
It looks great. The garden is a nice touch. The ends of the support rods for the stairs need to be cut flush with the nut. I would hate to be working in the garden and catch one in the back of the head.
It's over engineered!
Impeccable taste!
I was researching glulam and clt woods, ended up watching your house project and it's mesmerizing, thx for the uploads!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you like it😁
Ma ovo uopšte više nije fora. Ja stvarno mislim, da vas dvoje niste sa ove planete.
I'm following you for some years now because i like to watch your wood construction methods and solvings for joints etc. But man, you're overtaking your self with your own house. Very clean work on high quality. Nice job. Keep going.
wow
At first I was like, Porcelain tiles will be cold as ice on the feet. Then I remembered, heated flooring 😎
A “garden” on styrofoam? You made the base virtual resistant to roots… just fill the space with soil and plants? No?
Each plant has its own soil pot. Each plant has different needs regarding soil type and watering frequency..
I have to agree one of the things I’m not a fan of is the fact that the entire structure relies on geometry, but the forces are all being put through the bolts through sheer force. One of the things I like about the way the Japanese and a lot of the Asian cultures do timber framing/post and beam as they rely on the wood itself, and the fasteners only keep things together, but no forces transferred through. Still a cool structure though.
Why don't you like forces transferred trough the bolts?
Great work as usual. Love the lights!
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Beautiful work!
Thank you so much 😀
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
How's your back and knees mate? Brilliant job BTW.
First week was a nightmare.. But after a month, I got used to it.. I hope I wont have to do it again soon though.. :) Thank you:)
Would be better having wood as indoor floor?
It was an option but I personally don't like it as a flooring. Also not as good with underfloor heating.
Nice how the tiles continue trough all the rooms, we didn't see the cuts gone wrong but it must have been many. The plants make a nice contrast with the concrete wall behind, and create a good indoor climate as well.
3 broken tiles and a few cuts I wasn't satisfied with but fortunately was able to use them elsewhere. I'm still thinking about using the same tiles outside on the terrace to get a continuous floor but still haven decided.. Yes the garden really turned out better than I expected.. Now we just have to wait for the plants to grow :)
@@lignumchannel That's a pretty low failure rate, extending the floor tiles onto the outside area would look super.
I like the indoor garden, feels very 70s. Groovy.
Glad you like it, thank you!:)
Подскажите пожалуйста , разве можно битум раскладывать внутри помещения? Это не вредно для здоровья? Или это какой то экологический битум ? 😂
Nice color pallet!
I think so too! thanks!:)
Great job! I confirm that the porcelain stoneware was chosen correctly and installed without seams or thresholds throughout the entire first floor area. I did this in my house in 2015 (and I also have warm water floor heating and semi-dry sand cement screed) and still no problems. Even taking into account that the glue was applied only on the floor ;)
Thank you very much!:) I'm really happy to hear that, I have some worries on narrow areas at the doors that heath changes wont lead to cracks but hopefully everything will be ok. I put glass fiber mesh in those areas in the glue layer to reinforce it and that should help a lot.
Великолепная работа!
Thank you!:)
Love the reappearance of the chaise at the end there!
Great for taking a break:)
Божественно
Thank you!:)
Love it :)
Glad you like it! Thank you!:)
I actually enjoyed this music more than the typical hard rock associated with welding videos 😁👍
:D Thank you!
Impressive job! How many of those large tiles did you accidentally break? It's good to see the foreman keeping herself busy. I'm looking forward to the custom cabinetry.
three of them but I managed to use the pieces where smaller ones were needed:) Worst thing was that they broke after applying glue so I had to wash them and in that time I could lay two more.. But I learned a lot:) Yeah me too but I't is really time to move in and I'm afraid I will have no time with all the regular work for the company to make a kitchen myself.. I will probably have to order it.. But there is still a lot of other furniture for me to do and I hope I wont disappoint..
The house is starting to look like a home....a very nice home.
Thank you very much!:)
I think I should come and live with you😀
LOVE THOSE STEPS! EAUTIFUL SET UP BRO!
Thank you!:)
Beautiful. Thanks for inviting us in.
Thank you very much!:)
Simply stunning👍 You guys are absolutely amazing.
Thank you:)
No underfloor heating? In the winter the tiles are super cold, no?
Underfloor heating was in episode 17. Pipes are in dry screed.
That naked concrete on the stair wall is everything. Beautiful choice.
I guess people love it or hate it:)
Красавчики!
Stari, rasturas! 🎉
Hvala!:)
