Something I found out interesting, "David Jackson" in this movie is based on David Johnston, USGS Volcanologist who was sent to Mt St Helens and died in the eruption. In this movie, David Jackson developed a love interest and sometimes acted like a jerk. The family of David Johnston tried to sue the producers because, according to them, David Johnston did not have any girlfriend while there and was a really nice guy. They tried to sue the producers for portraying David Johnston in a negative light.
