Sitting on the metro and listening to Morphine over and over again, like a medicine for the soul. Sometimes I need to shut the door to the outer world and just nest inside. Morphine knew better. They knew the palette that colours our dreams, desires, fears, darkness and light. Never have I ever found a better soundtrack to navigate my inner waters.
For me, what makes this song so incredible is that Mark seems to be singing very slightly flat in parts. I'm not sure if it was intentional (it probably was) but it just lends this amazing melancholy vibe to it that I'm not sure would have been achieved had he been pitch perfect throughout. Genius, can't think of many other examples of it

@@bazookahorse You know what, I've gotten so confused about who plays on which track. If I remember correctly, Jerome said on a podcast that some of the songs on The Night had both of them playing. Apparently Mark wasn't satisfied with either of them and wanted kind of a Frankenstein of them both.
So here i am, sipping wine at 3am to this moody & gloriously dark album, melancholia hits & a sudden deep sense of beauty that only Mark knew the secret of. What a beast of an album, what a treat to my lonesome soul. Nothing will ever come close to how good this band is, was..nevermind..

Low end theory.

Jerome Deupree is such an amazing drummer. His groove is incomparable.
Agree. Very smooth and yet so rolling and groovy.

the rimshot!
Is this Jerome or Billy? Does sound a lot like Jerome's jazzier styling.

One of the best music of all times. Almost no views. Couldn't be better.
Background piano sounds a bit like Fiona Apple.
The Sexophone solo is the meanest thing I've ever heard, it's like Satan's Jazz band fucking love it.

i never did get to see them play. Really one of my favorite bands. Such a dark, wistful, different sound.
Holy hell I’ve said it’s just like swimming so many times. Weird enough for me to search ‘like swimming’ Peace brother
.. and I painfully & regretfully must remember that I've missed them live, unfortunately. Defenetly ❤
