Very informative demo Walt. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, thanks Billy, that looks like it will do the trick.
That is a great jig, Jim. Thank you for sharing !!
I just had to go back and rewatch this.
My wife just freaked out and ducked around the corner thinking this is live. LOL.
Thanks for sharing Matt.
The drill bit is a 2 flute ball end mill. Double sided. 3/8". The bar steel is 3/4", hollowed out, with a hole for the grub screw drilled and tapped, to hold the bit in place.
Thanks for the detail explanation/description.
I am having a hard time understanding the index wheel, how does it control the cable wheel?
Sam, you should come to a meeting and ask, I am not sure that Bob will see your question and answer. But, I am sure Bob would be happy to explain. Though the answer is not extremely hard, it is probably not something that would be easy to explain in a simple text answer. A little drawing and hand waving is probably in order. If I understood your confusion, and I understood Bob correctly, this may be the answer ... but, I don't guarantee I am right. I am not even certain what you did not understand. Asking him at the meeting would be the best way to get the answer for sure. I think it is the fact he has multiple rows (concentric circles) on the index wheel discussion that is confusing. I think the logic is different rows (concentric circles) on his Index wheel had different numbers of holes. Therefore, different rows (concentric circles) were divisible by different numbers. If he had a row (concentric circle) that had 24 holes spread equidistant around the circle, he could insert his pin every 4 holes. The result would be that he would end up with 6 flutes. If he had an index wheel with 30 holes equidistant around the circle, he could place the pin every 5 holes and he would end up with 6 flutes. If he had an index wheel with 30 holes equidistant around the circle, he could place the pin every 10 holes and he would end up with 3 flutes. His index wheel simply has multiple rows with different numbers of holes, resulting in his being able to choose the correct row, choose an interval around the circle and get equidistant flutes. Did I hit on the thing that was not clear to you? Did the description make sense?
@@woodturning7843 Thank you, that helps alot.
good demo... thanks for your time
Nice one Jim simple but effective
Have known Jim from when we met 20 years ago at a Symposium in Ohio. He has always fascinated me with all the ingenious things he comes up with and once again he ceases to amaze me with his talents. His Kaleidoscopes are fabulous and he always has simplified methods to construct. Wish he would publish a plan for making this Lattice jig.....this is a real winner!
Great demo Bob. Stools are a project that more folks should give a try. Well done.
Great demo Billy. Love doing inlays in the lid. I forget to do it most of the time. Very nice.
Nice. Think I may have make some.
Very interesting demo! Thanks to Brent and Mark!!
I like that. I will make some if you don’t mind. Thanks
Good to see Eddie healthy again thanks
Nice & simple fixture! Could make interesting top portions for bottle stoppers.
Hi Martin I wished I seen this video before I purchased the two Russian tools from you. I’m still struggling with the hook tool as there’s no English speaking turner’s as you know.
Very unique concept. Do you have plans for this on your website?
Great demo Doug! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Dave!
Great job, Matt!
Thanks, Sue! 😊
Another great meeting of World Wide Woodturners.
Hello fellow WWWTer's, I was wondering what gauge nichrome wire is best to use for this application? I have a Burnmaster Eagle. Thank you in advance!
You were right Dane about this group! I've never seen any YTer use a roughing gouge for anything more than knocking the corners off a blank. What a great demo! Have you ever thought about putting more than the date in the title to make it easier to go back and watch specific demos?
Never mind I see a separate posting of hustle the demo
Hmm. Not sure if I'll try this finial jig. I'll just keep backing up my finials using my left hand. Works smoothly.
Guys, three hours. Really?
Guys, and who's idea was it to have a video over three hours long? Don't kill the messenger.
Thanks! It was a pleasure to be with you!
Nice save
The figure in that first rolling pin!😮
My wife wants a crochet hook handle and she doesn't want it to be round. So I was trying to figure out how to do offset turns on such a small diameter and I think that this might be the answer. Thanks.
Very interesting jig. Thanks.
Power cords on the floor scare me.
Thanks for sharing this Matt. Did you do this live on Zoom or??? For the last few years just about everything I have turned was to as you say "create a canvas".
The video of Matt's demo was recorded from a live Zoom meeting. If you want, you can join our Zoom meetings on any Wednesday by clicking the GoTo Meeting button at worldwidewoodturners.org. Going to that website, it tells you when the meetings are in your time zone, and you are welcome to join at no cost or commitment. Matt frequently gives us demos on Zoom at these meetings..
Hi Pete. Yes, it was live on Zoom (as written below). I am certainly an advocate of "creating a canvas" with turnings, if you plan to decorate or embellish. My pleasure!
I think your Facebook account has been hacked.
Great demo, Ruby. Thanks 😊for
Jim is a treasure.
Beautiful piece, Jim
A great work of art. beautiful
