New Soft-shackle Dipped Chafe Sleeve | How to Install
Introducing the new HD (Heavy Duty) Dipped Chafe Sleeve for 7/16” up to 1” soft shackles. This combo makes your soft shackle the toughest in the industry. This video is a quick and simple explanation of the easiest way to pull your soft shackle thorough the sleeve. When ordering the correct size of sleeve, it will have a fairly tight fit around your soft shackle, so pushing the soft shackle into the sleeve may be impossible.
Utilizing a “leader line” and an air hose makes this install a breeze.
We labeled the size of sleeve according to its ID (Inside Diameter) to make the selection process much easier.
Click this link to get your HD Sleeve and Shackle combo or just the HD Sleeve for your existing soft shackle.

Industrial kinetic recovery rope at work! Yankum Ropes
Awesome video! I am too impatient though, I will never take the time to do this. Greetings from twin
Selma fids are SO much easier with 12 strand hollow braids. I typically invert that loop before passing the eye through. Much easier. Make loop 1, then loop 2. Loosen the line at 2 then invert it. Pass a regular fid through it half way. Take a 6” piece of baling wire and fold it in half making a 3” piece. Pass one end through Loop 1 trapping it in the middle of the wire. Place the two ends of the wire into the fid and push it through, then pull the wires to pass the loop through the inversion. Revert the inversion and slide together. ALWAYS taper the bury with at least 6 strands. I typically taper 10. BTW, your tail should be 3 1/2 Fid lengths to maintain the rated strength which should be 90% - 100% of the original rating.
Music on videos like this sucks. Just talk dude.
Looks like that’s what I’m doing tonight, may need to order the fair lead and soft shackles soon too.
damn, forgot the chafe sleeve.. redo... lol..
Geesh that ‘music’, is the worst
Another brilliant & innovative product from Yankum! Thank you. Now it's time for me to go get stuck 😂 🛻+⛺️=🙂! Mark (& Teresa) Hampstead Maryland • Purpose Built Adventure Rig © • Ford Ranger FX4 - GFC Camper V2 # 1919 • Kia Soulverlander • Nissan Xterra Off-Road •
We're going to need some bigger D rings. :)
wonder if these would be good on hydraulic hoses or Electrical wires.
You have the best ropes! You’re constantly improving your product!! Well done!! 👍👍💯
Thank you so much 🤗
Looks like a product that will outlast the shackle.
Great idea. I was thinking of a sleeve to protect the looped end of the winch line that sits in the groove fairlead
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
I imagine your shackle lasts at least 3X longer.
That’s the idea! 😎 soft shackles are so much easier and safer to use, but they are very susceptible to abrasion and cutting. This sleeve will greatly improve the lifespan of your soft shackles.
Brilliant. 😎👍
Nice
Thanks
Hailey Deegan is sponsored by Can-Am but doesn't have any recovery ropes.. I see her snapping tie down straps trying to get her friends out in her videos.
So kinetic is better for towing a car than flat? Im talking just a guy on the road going to help a friend by towing his car with yours.
You can bounce on the end of our rope! This will make flat towing a much better experience since it is designed to stretch. Just don’t run over the rope, same as a flat strap. Where our ropes shine is recovery and extraction. These ropes stretch 30% so if your friend s stuck in the mud this rope makes the recovery from the mud a breeze especially if your wheels are fighting for traction in the very same mud your friend is stuck in.
Too bad you cannot insert protection sleeve with this kind of splicing. So you have to stick with classic method. But the material is very slippery and , honestly, I couldn’t find any video how to splice this 12 strand rope made of this kind of material. If someone could send me a link I appreciate.
Lose the music and add some commentary. Really, it's exciting enough without the jazzy muzak.
I just watched this and decided I’ll run the hook until I need to replace the line. Holy buckets I don’t have the patience for that!
you should be tapering the tail once it's been passed through the core of the line. that sudden change in dia. will be your breaking point and will be your weakest area of the line now. you probably lost more than 50% of the integrity of the rope.
I just did this for the first time, using brand new 1/2" winch line. For me, clear boxing/packing tape worked much better than electrical tape. Thanks for the video and the innovative hawse/fairlead!
I clicked on this video because you made a smart title to picture
Best highest price on the market.
My question is why do you I need your $200 Fairlead using that Brummel knot? Couldn't I just use a $5 velcro strap to tie the winch line back onto itself or affix to the fairlead that came with my winch?
Very very confusing, watch on channels on you tube maybe you learn a less confusing method
Are they still called soft shackles, in sub-freezing environment?
with proper care, what is life expectancy, of a Yankum Rope?
7 "P's" of success Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance 🎯 I'm still working on the planning,, which seems to have repetitious preemptions👀
Have a 98lb RottnLab, she is stupid strong for her size.👀 Probably 5/8ths rope, 2 20ft ropes (neon orange,,, wait,,, do you have glow-in-the-dark ropes? Her favorite color😂), 4 soft shackles and 5 doughnut pulleys. My RottnLab is quite an entertaining character. Well mannered, just don't run toward me😱😁😂😎☕
I made a comment on Instagram about how user reviews is the best ad from people who won't use anything else and META deleted it. META is getting too ... ...
Winches... must be a jeep thing lol
Ok. I have a yankum rope and soft shackle. I haven’t done a kinetic pull yet. As most have seen there was an accident with a jeep and bronco on you tube recently. I don’t know what brand it was. I Also know they didn’t pull correctly because they didn’t use a soft shackle. Was there anything else they did wrong? Would the soft shack have been enough to stop this from happening?
There were a lot of factors at play, the biggest takeaway is to always check to make sure your recovery gear is not compromised in any way, take your time, and make sure you are operating within the the right WLL of your recovery gear including speed and rate of cycles over time (5 cycles and 10 min of rest for the rope). If you follow those rules you will be safe.
@@YankumRopes awesome! Thanks!!
This was a pain, not having a fid. I used 1/4” drive extension and wire to fish everything through. You will save yourself a lot of frustration if you just buy a freekin’ fid.
I think I am going to struggle doing this for the first time… Probably need to watch the video a few times.
I personally use Yankam ropes myself.
This message is for Alan with Yankam ropes. I’d like to partner up with you. I belong to a small club and to my knowledge none of them have ropes and I’m trying to introduce him to Yankam ropes. Can you help me out?
Great video! Really solidifies the reason to purchase. Behind the scenes is always one of my favorite videos when looking to purchase a product. Thanks for sharing the info. 💯
Any discount code?
Between Casey, Trail Mater & Matt using the Yankum products, I feel I should get some though I would likely never be in a situation to use them.
Went to the link because of the school bus recovery. Will probably buy one for my new F-250 King Ranch just in case. Also wanted to comment that Casey did not charge the bus driver for the recovery. He told him to make a donation to his favorite charity. It doesn’t get better than that. Great guy…great product!!
As an advanced ticket rigger for many years and a 60 tonne crane operator i am more than happy to use your products. They are now my "go to" items in my 4x4 recovery bag :))
thank you yankum ropes for making caseys job so easy
Thanks to Yankum for helping Casey do such good work for others and for their great product. Very impresseve.
You have an awesome product, keep up the good work!
Been watching Casey do his magic for awhile now and it's really not magic when you can use a product like Yankum ropes. Gotta get me some of that!
If Matt has 600 cycles should be able to do more than year warranty to demonstrate the longevity
