Kayaking in Missouri. Paddled 14 miles, on the Osage River, no current. Got the dredge barge marked on the GPS. That dredge is still in operation. Put-in at St. Thomas and take-out was Pikes Camp.

Woke up to a storm. Storm passed and I pushed off my island. Had a misty rain during my 10 mile trip to Schlicht Springs, where my trip would end.
Gasconade River Day 4

Gasconade River Day 3

3rd day of my Gasconade River Trip. This was a relaxing day, just a few portages. The river didn't have much current. I had some short stretches of fast water.
Gasconade River Day 2
zhlédnutí 156Před měsícem
Day 2 of Gasconade River Trip. I had some hard portages to do. You'll see a few of them. I did flip, but that's not on the video. I do talk about it on the video. This was a very hard day. This stretch of river is beautiful.
Gasconade River Day 1
zhlédnutí 468Před měsícem
Drone footage provided by FeltropFamilyShenanigan This is the first day of my trip on my trip on the Gasconade river. This was to be a trip of the entire river. I made it 109 miles. Weather moved in and for safety, I got off the river. I had to portage over numerous trees downed by the recent floods. This is a long video, but well worth watching to the end. There are a few nice, but small water...
FATHERS DAY 2024
zhlédnutí 48Před měsícem
Kayaking in Missouri. Drone video courtesy of www.youtube.com/@SMD_JJ Some of the video is shaky, I let the little ones work the camera. We camped out at Marion Access for Fathers day. We had planned to float the Missouri River 7 miles to the sandbar, then 7 miles to Noreen Access. Plans changed when Jeremey saw the river. The wing dikes were not showing, and he felt that was a problem. I did f...

Kayaking in Missouri. Just a short clip of my re-done canoe. A couple patches complete sanding down and a new coat of paint. 325.00 for a fiberglass canoe. Including what I paid for it.
RESTORING AN OLD CANOE

Kayaking in Missouri. I bought an old canoe, knowing it had some damage. This is a fiberglass canoe. I do not know the Make or Model. I have 2 weeks to get it ready for the Current River float trip.
Missouri River Training Day
zhlédnutí 117Před 2 měsíci
Kayaking in Missouri. Three friends push off from Providence Access, Perche Creek. Paddle to the confluence and down the Missouri. The float plan is simple, paddle to Jefferson City, Noreen Access. All of us are experience, one has a new to them kayak. The trip starts off with a little rain then turns into a nice day of paddling.
MEMORIAL DAY 2024

You still did a great job! MR340 is no joke!
@bigbird3500 Thank you. I did finish in 2022. I was in a 12 foot Pelican. I made it then in 82 hours. I was trying to go to fast day 1 in this kayak.
You’re kayaking that?!?
Yes, along with several other 100 paddlers. It's a fun time, once you reach the finish line at St. Charles.
@LRO1986 Let me edit my reply. I have kayak at this level. On July 23rd I will be paddling this river once again. The MR340 race across the state. Several 100 paddlers do this race every year.
Thanks for sharing. During the last two years in the fall (October), the water levels were low enough that I could paddle upstream from Pikes Camp several miles, all the way to Painted Rocks - it’s a great solo paddle. Doesn’t look like we will get low water levels this year if it keeps raining!
@barry4fish19 Thank you for this information. I've never tried that. In the winter months I usually stay down around Mari-Oas Ramp. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for the update for us out of staters!
@TheExtremetraveler You're welcome.
Sweeet!! I love that spot
Thanks for sharing your venture.
@robertkloeppel3554 Thank you.
@@robertkloeppel3554 Thank you.
That’s great, I enjoy paddling the river better when wing dikes are completely visible and when water has better clarity (late summer, etc). But thanks for sharing.
Thank you. When the wing dikes are underwater, the river has a different personality.
@@mattskayakingadventures6079 I believe it!
Wow, still some sand, nice. Looks like a perfect day
It was the perfect day. That small Strom cell to the north, 2 Miles from Jeff City was the only "bad" part of the trip. Luckily, there was no lightning and no rain from it. Thanks for watching.
wtf
I wish you show us your face so it feels like im going to trip with my lad ❤ cheers anyway i enjoyed it 😊
Thanks for your input. Your opinion is important. I'm still trying and learning new things. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I plan on doing a lot more kayak camping this summer.
Looks like a nice trip Matt. I wondered if you were going to be at the Gut Buster race, I met you there last year but wasn't able to attend this year. This looks like a great alternative!
I had planned to race the Gut Buster but changed plan to do this trip. It was a wonderful trip.
I would want to go in there 😮
So beautiful love the veiw ❤
Be careful dad ❤ 😂
Mind blown 🤯
The veiw is amazing 🎉
Love the hat 🤠 ❤
Amazing veiw loved this video

Love the camo dad ❤😊
He's getting into it 🎉 wow amazing
Loves it ❤
Ngl that so unsafe
I have no idea what "Ngl" means. This is completely safe.
Looks absolutely beautiful out there hope you're having a wonderful time😊
Looks like it'd be a lot of fun😊

Go there when it blows up
I would like to. But they will have the river shut down as well as I 70.
I'm going to try and get a video of them bringing it down. But I CAN NOT promise that I can get close enough. I'll see what I can do.
I was there the other day
That was quite a race! Great footage of the start - boat #1985
Thank you.
How long did this trip take? Considering making this trip on Sunday.
Thanks for uploading!
You're welcome
Music on this was very distracting. Would have liked to have watched the whole video, but I just couldn't handle the music.
Thank you for your opinion. I am trying to make better videos so your opinion will help me with different things to do and ideas that I should think about and try.
Hello
Hello
These are great, have you ever considered vr180 or vr360? This would be a way for someone to experience this if they were home bound or far away or out of season. These are viewed using the oculus quest. It would be cool to do a vr float trip. Thanks.
Ok?
Thanks for the video; great race. What action camera did you use?
I use a GoPro silver. I think it's a GoPro 10 silver. Thanks for subscripting.
I could listen to that coffee perk sound forever
Maybe you said and I didn’t hear, was it a legal portage the folks did?
They stayed close to the river and quickly went about getting back to the river. They didn't ask permission before the trip. When questioned by the land owner during the portage they respectfully said there intent. The land owner allowed them but stated he did not want this to happen all the time. River right you can portage and stay below the high water mark which is legal. Eighter way it is not easy. But river right won't get questions asked.
I would like to add. I did the video to hopefully let paddlers know what they are going to face if they paddle this section of that river. So hopefully people will not run into this issue because we should not make any land owner mad or upset. No matter what.
@@mattskayakingadventures6079 thanks. I hope you had a good day on the water. I did some kayak fishing on flat water today.
@@mattskayakingadventures6079 thank you for that. Some day I want to paddle upstream to see the low head dam. From a distance.
If you want company let me know. I have a busy schedule with race training and Pre races and the big race MR340 along with camping in there too. But I'm sure we can come up with a weekend. If you ever want company. Just find me on Facebook.
looks fun. we used to kayak in tampa bay near the skyway bridge.. it was pretty much like this all the time.
Nice kayak adventure👍 Take care New sub here
Where do you put in to float that creek? We are coming in May and want to know if it would be a nice place to kayak.
I've been told you can put-in here, at Cedar Township, MO, Burnett School house Road. Then float down. I have not ever put-in at this location, so I can't say how good it is. I have always put-in at Capital View Access. Paddle upstream. This Access is just outside Jefferson City on north 63 highway. If you want I can show you this put-in to avoid the hunt, but it's pretty easy to find. In May the water level should be good. If you want, when you get here message me and I can show you other places. I'm always willing to help other paddlers.
I love new boats! I have a collection of 8.
This kayak makes 5 for me. I have no plans on getting any more, but one never knows.
Have you gone upstream on Cedar Creek from Capitol View Access? I’m pretty new to kayaking and not ready for the MO river.
Steve Eichelberger. Yes I have paddled upstream on Cader Creek. Back before I started my CZcams. I went 5 miles, I think but it got real shallow. Try the Gasconade River. It's a good river to paddle. If you're around the Jefferson City area hit me up and I'll paddle with you. I once heard a saying." If you don't do new and different things you'll always be a beginner." With kayaking this is very true. Just DO NOT try new things alone. Go with someone that has experience. At least at first. Just hit me up. I'm just a average kayaker like yourself, I just have experience. The Missouri River isn't as bad as it looks. Just DO NOT do it alone. Go with someone that has experience on that river. When you want to get on it hit me up. I have a lot of miles on that river. Including the MR340 last year. That race starts in Kansas City and ends in St. Charles. We go all the way across the state of Missouri. 340 miles.
@@mattskayakingadventures6079 thanks. Come next spring I may contact you and try out some bigger water.
Hi around 6.30 min something is passing you on the right in the water. Was that a fish?
marcha It's was a couple of leaves just under the surface. We saw a few leaves like that and every time I would have to take a second look to see if it was a fish.
Yeah we almost crossed this the first time we went out there when the river was high. Didn’t realize what it was. Super sketchy. Glad we didn’t attempt it. We were in our small job boat.
I love missouri.
Where did you get out?
We put in just below Bagnell dam and the take out was at Tuscombia. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for watching.
@@mattskayakingadventures6079 we aren't very experienced kayakers, we just want a relaxed trip. We have done the Niangua when it was 3 feet higher than normal. It was fun but all the tree limbs and branches were a bit sketchy. I'd like it a little more low key. We did 8 miles in 2.5 hours. Was a quick trip! 🤭😅
@@teresadecker860 The Osage can be relaxing. Depending on when the dam is releasing water it could be a quick trip. There’s not a lot of gravel bars to get on. Another nice river is the Gasconade River. I usually float Rollins Ferry to Pointers Creek. Osage campground Retreat shuttles kayaks. You can find them on Facebook. They have a Facebook page. You might get the book “A Paddlers Guild to Missouri “. You can get it at any conservation office or nature center. It’s cost 8 dollars and change.
I’m racing in the MR340 next week. After that I plan on getting back to floating again. I’ve been doing a lot of training this year to get ready for that race. Message me if you want and we can float. I’m in Jefferson City.
Thank you so much for your help! We will definitely try the Gasconade. And yes the book sounds like a great investment!
That's awesome
The best float ever!
Had a blast! Nice to meet you Matt.
Your welcome. Nice to meet you as well.
