James was sooo good! It was an empowering story. Mr. Everett out did himself. I was so upset when I reached the last page. We need a sequel! I want to checkout Beautyland. Thanks for the recs.

I read this and was so frustrated with the ending 😭 I loved it and got attached to the story and the characters that I couldn’t accept the ending ….

You finally read homegoing?! 🤗wasn't it just the most riveting book ever written, when it comes to a slave narrative book? It was done really well as you said. Transcendent is not as captivating as homegoing but her writing and the premise of that particular story is still interesting.😁 I'd recommend you to read transcendent as well. I enjoyed the video as usual.

My bestie and I loved front st . It’s. A series sooooooooo damn good. Lake, Dem, Sav, Wreck & Vant. And I’m not gonna ruin it for you but keep up with the series if you liked this book.

I loved Dear Haiti, Love Alaine. I read it last year and I loved seeing Alaine learn more about her family and the history of Haiti. I hope you enjoy it!

though "triggering" I thought it was refreshing to read about loss from a male point of view with Sam..it was also nice to read a good book that wasn't set in America with typical souther or slave history etc....

Hey! Sounds like you read some great books. Notably Sula, which I have been meaning to read. I need to read at least one book by Toni Morrison. I have black cake on my shelf, and I am no hurry to read it as of yet. Ace of spades sounds interesting. I'll keep it in my long list of books to read. An American marriage was good. I listened to the audio version. I own yellow wife. I hope to get to it soon enough. The heaven and earth grocery store is definitely one I want to get to soon. ☺

Good review, I feel your sentiment as I was so let down with how the book ended too! After all the build with Efia's and Sam's marital challenges. And my family's from Ghana too. But I'm not a fan of books that go back in time so I skipped most of the early early years chapters. The whole book should have a trigger warning actually.

I recommend reading Toni Morrison’s Tar Baby. It’s my favorite of her books. I think you will like it.

The Heaven and Earth Grocery store was good. There were lots of plot twists, but it was an interesting read.

Excited for you to experience Terry McMillan. Definitely read Waiting to Exhale before the sequel. It's different from the movie and worth the read. Mama Day has been on my list forever. You definitely found some good ones!

I listened to the audiobook and that made the podcast transitions so much smoother than what I imagine reading it must feel like. As for Kenny, I think Wendy helped him and Maddy run away together to Maddy’s mom. At the end of the book, the podcasters grill Wendy about being geolocated at the train station the night Maddy went missing. Then they mentioned that she was the last person checked into the hospital to see Kenny before he went missing. I think she actually did the right thing and helped Maddy live the life she deserved

I agree with everything you said about "Ricki Wilde". I took me some time to get through the first half of the book and then i finished the second half in two days, so yeah it takes some time for it to pick up. Slight spoiler?: but i feel like she is setting up something for a story about Tuesday based on the epilogue, which I would definitely read. Great review!

I read Linden Hills last year and really enjoyed it. Perfect book to read around Christmas time. 🤗

An American Marriage is good, I read it a couple of years ago and really liked it and recommended it to a friend. I have only read one Toni Morrison book and I do not like her writing style (The book I read was Song of Solomon). I just can't read her books. I read Yellow Wife this month and it is harsh, make sure you have something light to read after you read Yellow Wife because you are going to need something light and fluffy after you finish that book.

This is my first time seeing your channel. So far I’m loving it. Lol about you feel like someone will love “Somebody That I Used to Know”… I’m that somebody! 😂 I was swooning! But I do get what you are saying, I think some of the dialogue and the way they related just didn’t resonate with me at times. But I’m Gen X so….maybe I just didn’t get it. Congrats on your growing channel!
