Angelwing FVT3 v3 from Angelwing flying at St Cyrus in Aberdeenshire
zhlédnutí 572Před 6 měsíci
It was a bit windy for a 220g model but the FVT3 did great. St Cyrus is a lovely flying site but landing is tricky as it's farmers fields to the rear so you have to try to put it down on a narrow strip on top of the cliff. To make it more exciting there is a nasty rotor that sits right in the landing area. The views make up for the landing difficulty.
Slite V2 F3 RES slope soaring at Brimmond Hill
zhlédnutí 1,8KPřed 10 měsíci
This is my latest build, it's the Slite V2 which i got from Hyperflight. It was a really enjoyable build. It goes great off the bungee but today was a very light breeze on the slope so I thought I'd see how it likes the hills.

First time out with my Shaka from Flightpoint. Unusually for a tailless model it was trimmed almost spot on right off the board.

Hi Steve, looking good! I’ve just ordered one of these and was wondering whether you feel the rudder is worth having / connecting up? It seems more like a bank-n-yank model and so a rudder may be unnecessary? Thanks! 😎👍🏻
I'd probably not bother with the rudder. I used it on this one as it was a prototype build so i wanted to test out the option. In reality I've only used the rudder very occasionally for a few stall turns. Omitting the rudder and servo also gives you a better shot at bringing the weight under the magic 250g.. I was 2g over
@@jetplaneflyer Thanks for your feedback Steve! Yes stall turns / coordinated turns were the only things I could think the rudder would be useful for, and this doesn't seem the type of model those manoeuvres are designed for 😁
By the way, what's the big deal with the 250g target weight? Does it mean you can fly closer to / over people, as per the drone regulations?
@@HorizonimagingCoUkPhotography The Drone regulations only apply if it's 250g or over. Anything less is exempt so you can fly anywhere you like, subject to common sense of course.
@@jetplaneflyer - Thanks Steve! So what does getting under 250g mean in terms of where you can fly? I've always flown my planes wherever I feel there is enough space / away from the public anyway?
Do you have a video on how to calibrate it ?
no calibration necessary
@@jetplaneflyer really how is that possible ?
@@bluecavemen the flight controller on most RC helis (usually called flybarless controller) doesnt work like a drone flight controller. It has no GPS and does do any autonomous control at all. On a drone if you take your hands off the sticks the drone just self stabilises and sits static in the sky. On a RC heli if you take your hands off the heli will just hit the dirt. That's the challenge you get from it. it's not easy!
@@jetplaneflyer have you heard of pixhawk flight controller. You can actually turn a heli into a uav.
@@bluecavemen yes, I’ve heard of them. For my purposes having the heli fly itself would take all the fun out of it.
Excellent get the micro S for slope ❤
Neat little wing. I suppose shipping from the UK to US is quite high, maybe matching the price of the plane. My kind of model though. Thanks for sharing.
@@bcflyer99 the box doesn’t weigh much so shipping may not be too bad. Ask Andy at Angelwings
Nice mate 👌
Beautiful.
Was checking out your feedback on the shaka. Good looking plane
Excellent👌🏻 Thank you I Wanted to know the difference between M2 & Evo 👍🏻
Great flying, going to order one, what wind speed was that?
about 20mph i think
@@jetplaneflyer thanks ordered my kit yesterday so wanted to know what I could fly it in. 20mph is quite strong yet it seems pretty stable 👌
nice
What size of bomb can this thing deliver?
I keep getting beeps on the right analog when it gets to the middle? Is there a way to fix/disable this? Thanks
I had a red kite following one of my wings earlier in the week too... it cruised along the slope edge just above the model at about 30ft height. When I landed, it carried on circling around the model.... magical stuff!
Leave the f****** animals alone
Quel est ce modèle ? Merci.
c'est dans le titre, Franck !
You wanna fly one all silver 🤣
Well flown But It performs like a Gasbag Floater type from the mid 70's. Sloooow Motion .
Looks excellent! Where is your CG at? My FVT3 still has a rather steep glide angle, I think due to CG a bit too far forward of the sweet spot. Do have a gyro / stabilizer installed? Regards, Arjan, Holland
CG is about 80mm back from the tip of the nose. No gyro fitted. This is the new version, I have the old one too and it certainly benefits from a gyro. The significant change I think is that the new one doesnt have dihedral which greatly reduces Dutch roll tendency.
interesting... if not curious, revival of Prandtl's 1920's studies on bell lift distributions... yet again.
Great day to test the model to be fair Steve, as it was never designed for these conditions
Nice job mate cracking site ❤
Nice Location and nice Slite👌🏻👌🏻
Where did you get that battery tester?
Is there a rescue switch for the M2 on the transmitter? Thanks
hello steve, nice video 😊 did you buy your aresti from rgmcn? how heavy is your model and is the quality okay?
Martin, yes it’s from rgmcn. I went for full carbon which probably adds a bit of weight at the rear making the model a bit heavier. It’s about 2.3kg. It does ok in moderate winds but as you would expect isn’t a ‘floater’. Quality is very good, no complaints at all.
thank you steve ❤
how to setup auto hover with A3pro ?
Beautifully executed.
Interesting seeing what you're up to, that defeats my eyes Steve... ATB, Andy.
I’ve done some testing on a few makes of lipo to get IR. I found it is very important to keep them at the same temperature and charge level when doing comparative tests. A warmer cell of say 25C versus 20C (Centigrade) can change IR from say 11 to 7 milli ohms. I’ve tried cycling some 35C 2200 cells that have IR of 12 to see if it improves but it didn’t. I’ve got 12 year old 20C 2200 Rhino cells IR around 7 that have much lower IR than new similar Overlander cells. I find a lot of the C ratings are just complete fantasy. There is a big forum collecting IR data and trying to put true C ratings against cell capacity and IR values. How can a 2200 50C rated pack possibly put out over 100 Amps when the typical SC60 connector is only rated at 60Amps burst current, and yet that’s what it is stating by the ratings. I just wish we could be given true representative info from the manufacturers rather than lies.
Wellll it flies . But in all seriousness: What advantage (if Any ?) does a pure wing give over the typical planform that 99.99% of aircraft use. Prandtls notions are 100 years old. More than ample time for their merits to be evaluated .. and superceeded
ah...one thing you did not mention...after binding you need to do a frequency fine-tune (choose 'freqtune' icon under 'bind' icon and tune each direction to find the strongest signal) as it may not have the correct signal strength. Once you finetune the signal your good to go.
how much gain u used ? its flying is so solid
That's well cool. Wish I'd not seen this. Could be another hobby starting!
RC slope soaring is a great hobby. There is something special and very rewarding about flying on only rising air currents with no motor or propeller to assist, plus it gets you out to some beautiful places. Give it a go!
@@jetplaneflyer thanks Steve, I'm seriously considering it. I'd love to learn to fly one and as a family we love walking so it would be a great way to get out and explore the country aswell. Is there a set up you could recommend for a complete beginner?
Dave, sorry, missed your last message. For a beginner something made from foam is not a bad shout as they dont need building and they bounce when crashrd. You could do a lot worse than the dream flight Alula, it packs down small so easy to carry when you are out on a walk and they fly really nicely. You would need servos, a receiver, transmitter and flight battery, but the dealer you buy from I'm sure would make recommendations. For a Transmitter the Radiomaster Zorro is good if you want something compact and portable but still very capable.
@@jetplaneflyer thanks 👍 I will have a look into it. Got a few spots lined up already
Just popped over from the helidirect comparison video, thanks for the review!
nice. ordered mine today...
The S2 seems to fly smoother more locked , don't know if it was the wind but the M2 drifted more during those long rainbows.
great video, many thank you's!!!!
Nice video, will waiting your more video to teach us how to assemble M4
Great video Steve thank you for spending the time to make these videos...im still on the fence for what gyro to use....torn between Spirit or vbar....i need the rescue option as a must....would be intrested in your thoughts.
The skosh! I think Gooey has the upperhand because they have the flight controller.
Helpful video. Looking forward to the next installment!
Nice review, and glad to see you actually flew it.. you must have the only review out their that has actually used the product 😊
What flight controller did you use? What about the radio too?
Cheers Steve... Thank you for spending the time to do this.. It will become most helpfull
Difficult to see the aircraft when it's so far away. I was surprised to see how high it was getting when you were flying, though parallel to, but so far out away from the slope. What was the damage? Was it repairable? Did you ever discover why it lost control & crashed? Inquiring minds want to know.
Nice helicopter Steve nothing wrong with your flying mate
What's the beeping sound from your tx? Anyway, you don't have to do smack 3D to have fun. Your video shows what most pilots with a bit of persistence will be able to achieve, and it is an absolute joy to be able to pilot an RC helicopter in this fashion. I also received a Viva Magenta M4, eagerly awaiting a suitable size battery to maiden it.
Love it. So smooth
