Driving from the official Rennen hotel in Bad Oldesloe to CSP, where the start of the Petermax Müller Rennen was. In front of me in the black split we have Frode, Magne and Jamie. CSP served a very nice breakfast before the race started.

Just being honest, sounds like a lazy pig snorting out it's ass in a mud puddle. Get some more timing in it, up the compression and/or back off on the cam. That thing needs a wake up call.

The heads are 1200.
Did you make custom manifolds
I used normal J-tubes for cylinders 1 and 3, I made them a bit longer and added a bend to them. For cylinders 2 and 4 I used tubes from an old Monza exhaust, and made them also longer, as on the Monza they were very short.
Don't like the idle on that,sounds like an old motorbike.A CB perf cheater can would be better.

The exhaust did not have the sound I wanted, I made some changes to it after this video, it improved a bit. I went to the Hessisch-Oldendorf meeting in Germany, the exhaust worked great on the Autobahn, but you are right in that the sound is not good. But I am really happy with the engine, it goes really well. I made a Carrera style exhaust for my beetle, I will try it on the Ghia and see how it fits, and looks.
dynamenttia Its great to see a classic on the road and not a trailer queen. Maybe I have the opposite problem to you with my daily driver 1200 standard Bug. It idles great but doesn't doesn't go great on the motorway ha!
Which connect rods size and valve sizes are you using?
Stock rod size, valves 40 and 35,5.
For the carbs to be that big. That lil beast throttle responds sure is crisp. Great job!

Sounds fine to me, why would you assume it's too much carb without knowing the head mods and dynamic CR.
Webers have swappable 'chokes' (venturis) so there is no 'too much'.

bug oval at the 350 mark is a Ron LUMMUs chrome moly street chassis and a turbo monster motor.Can drop down into the 9,s and runs on the street .It was in hot vw magazine and face books ron lummus racing in anaheim

Some very clean VW'S over in Sweden, they just need to work on their staging technique and reaction times. A line lock helps with staging, I noticed a few of them would turn on the top lights then roll theough, not the best way to get a record reaction time.

Andrew Banjak At local VW drags it's a family thing. They bring out the VW, the wife and kids. Unless you're a VW enthusiast that follow the sport you might not even know there's a race happening. Not much advertising for the races.

:D Not a Turbo, it's naturally aspirated for sure. So a type one, anywhere from 1835 to a 2275 I would guess.
