Hi Jessica. I am from Darbhanga, Bihar. Staying in Indore for almost thirty years but am deeply connected to my home state. Your story is going to be repeated in my family as my would be daughter in law is also from Chicago where my son is working currently. I wish, like you, my daughter in law too becomes fluent in speaking Hindi language and also Maithili language which is my mother tongue. Besides, I do hope she falls in love with Indian and Bihari culture and follows our culture like you. She is trying to learn Hindi from a tutor in Chicago. She is good, has good manner and is also crazy about India and Indian culture.

Didi white westerners are put on a high pedestal because they knew a long time ago what it meant to be a civilization. Rest of the world are still figuring out the principles but are mentally and physically unprepared for to match the levels. I don't think it will ever happen in the third world.
I know some Indians will say that the West has its cultural problems like Feminism/Degeneracy/Debauchery etc. But then again they also have the ability to overcome their problems by reflecting on it (e.g.- the red pill movement), which we don't. And that's what makes the West superior to the third world. This generation of Indians can occasionally pretend to hold themselves to a standard to which they hold Westerners as much as they want, but we all know that their pretention doesn't last long. They eventually show their true colours, simply because they objectively see on a daily basis that the collective identity of the Western World is philosophically, scientifically, aesthetically, morally and economically way more robust. And although being superior don't guarantee infallibility, Indians will still follow the Western authority, because the very Indian identity is a superimposition on humanity, with the help of parental/social/institutional authority. So Indians will keep on following the trends set by the West because they view the West as an authority and they feel they are in safe hands while following it as an authority. And since people view authority in high regard in this society, Indians will follow the West to acquire the markers of authority as well, by the means of parroting/aping, to establish a fake socio-economic status infront of the members of their own community.
