I'd love to see your take on Wordbearers in this style, I'm curious how you will deal with the technical challenge created by the presence of all of the runes text and sygils on their armor. Also I like the darker red you get on them and the blood ravens as compared to the brighter red's of the blood angels and world eaters.
Very comicbook-esque i love it
It's possible to aply wash oil on miniatures without primer ?
How about you do that with some gundams
Hello, Susan here. My peak bar is slapping oil washes on.
you paint style is crazy and i love it
Comic style Like a good old 80's 👍👍👍
i thought that was Mr. Freeze for a sec 💀
The face looks like PS2 graphics
Is that an imperial knight?
Did they paint the head as well? Or was it prepainted
It looked like bunk at the start with those flat colours and then that blending, my god. Great example of trust the process. That looks amazing.
That’s the most beautiful way to do color how do you even do that???
There's a 30 minute video lesson on my CZcams channel covering this. How to sketch and blend :)
Looks awesome, your channel is right up my alley my man
This went from looking like my minis to golden demon entry real quick.
Amazing work, do you varnish over oils?
Thank you! Yes. I give them plenty of time to dry and then i varnish to lower the glossy finish a bit
Praise be to space king
Have you painted halgrim yet. Need some inspiration.. 😊
Not yet. But he's on my list. I painted one of the skeletons though. Hope you'll find some inspiration in that video :) czcams.com/video/-2ls26g-XK0/video.html
This is the absolute best style I have ever seen for painting minis
Thank you! Be sure to check out my CZcams channel and patreon page for in depth lessons on how i paint :)
That looks like an illustration in the best way possible
Draw the rest of the owl
This is really useful. I am always aiming to improve my nmm and this is a really good video to reference. Kudos!
What sheets do you use one your wet pallet mate?
Bro doesn't use an energy sword... HE IS AN ENERGY SWORD!!!
I cant wait to see more of this more "artistic" fundamental tutorials for miniature painting!
Awesome method! As always very inspiring!
Stelling eller Creas?
Stelling!
Sounds like something I could use for the terrain, but not for minis. Not at the moment. Convenience and fast drying of acrylics is essential for me since I have no dedicated work station and kids who love to contribute.
You have absolutely hit the nail on the head. “THIS ULTIMATE HACK THAT CHEATS THE UNDISCOVERED FIX WHICH I WISH I KNEW WHEN I STARTED IN MY TOP TIPS TO WIN GOLDEN DEMON IN JUST 5 MINUTES. But first a word from my sponsor.”
This looks incredibly hard to get into
You'll find things become easier. What he showed was closer to art than figure coloring.
Good thing that i have a 30 minute lesson on this on my channel then :)
@@Watchpaintdry_minis thats some good ass marketing right their, plus one view
One problem I had at early into blending was that it truly is slow. Took me a moment to accept that not every brush stroke will leave a clearly visible result.
A video about how to record miniature painting with a camera (Non a webcam or phone, I dont know how people call professional cameras), I have one of those, and I tried multiple times recording myself painting, but the color, the focus and other things always feel odd when I review the recording.
You are being very modest here. Its a webcam with a glorified controller. Not too special in any way. And I feel for the 219eu (from your link) save up a bit more and go with something else. But the controller is a nice idea. Could be cool to hack it to work with other webcams in obs would be the way to go... maybe even cut the price with 30-50%? I dunno. I might be harsh here.
Wow that turned out great 👍
I have never shot myself painting miniatures. But as a cinematographer i can safely say that i agree with you...this thing is pretty useless for filming miniatures. my suggestion: - Acquire a descent slr sized camera that can record in 4k resolution. - Learn about "focal length", "angle of view", and "depth of field". Once you do that you can confidently make the right choice about what lens to get for your camera. - Learn about exposure. - Learn as much as you can about lighting, such as the "quality of light (from hard to soft), angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. - mess around with a polarizer to control reflections. - feed camera's image to an external monitor, so you can see what youre filming - rely on modern auto-focus technology (Sony does it best imo) - find the best way to mount your camera that gives you the most flexibility and does not shake as you move around. (this may be the least straightforward tip) - and then go down a rabbit hole of post production to ensure your delivered result is the most optimal. This is usually where things fall apart for people who are new to the world of image making, and wonder why their footage doesn't look as good as others who are using the same camera. In the end its not rocket science, but may be tricky to learn due to a very non-linear way of learning (much like miniature painting).
Absolutely agree. I would add that i think that a 50mm lens on a crop sensor is a good focal lenght in my experience. And that shooting in manual focus with a LOT of lights around you and a ISO at maximum 800 has worked out better for me than autofocus and lower ISO. But maybe that has to do with the camera I'm using. Thanks for watching and commenting! I would love to learn more about color grading and post production honestly - there's just so little time in the day.
@@Watchpaintdry_minis your stuff looks good and quite clear. But there could always be some bottleneck that can make it even better(without the need for gear upgrades). id love to see if i can help in that regard…Ill pm you on insta.
I appreciate that!
starting with a green prime is such a great idea!
What’s the music during the drawing segment?
You can see the titles of the music in the video description.
I'm stealing this for my black templars, its sooo sick
this looks insanely well!

What would you use to strip oils from a mini if you wanted to give them a different paintjob later on for whatever reason?
White spirit/dilutent/thinner :)
would you recommend the gamblin oils over the W&N artist oils?
Yes 100%
Does an oil painted model look like it's been painted with oils compared to the smooth finish you get with acrylics? Do you have a preference of which medium you prefer to use?
I like oils for bigger softer surfaces like skin tone on a bust. I think acrylic is better for textures for instance. But this is also a matter of personal preference
Would love to see dark angels done in this method
I have a video on lion el johnson, but that's acrylics 🙂
Your channel wont be on 3k subs for long my guy some of the best content ive seen, will be heading over to your patreon soon for sure. Just started mine painting and began with a Dreadnought (which i regretted pretty quickly) Already learnt a lot from it though and been looking for a more sytematic way to learn that jumping around on youtube. Sounds like your patreon offers just that!
Thank you so much! I'm happy to have you. Hope you'll enjoy the content on patreon!
holy cow <3 on video its 10 minutes, i wonder how long it really takes in real life, the outcome is outstanding
Teaching is a gift that allows you to take a very complex subject and make it understandable for anyone. You are incredibly gifted and I’m very appreciative that you take the time to make these videos.
Comments like this make my day. thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful
Is there a reason you didn’t choose violet over the ultramarine blue glaze to tie everything together? Would magenta also work as a contrasting shadow? Trying to wrap my head around colour theory a bit more. Thanks
I did use a bit of violet in shadows, and ultramarine over the mid tones. Magenta can also wok (not a huge difference in the end) but i used violet since i had the violet in the shadows already. A magenta over blue would also result in a violet like tone.
