Yes, in regular usage the device is getting heated in normal tasks compared to other phones. During gaming it will be more hot but if you put proper case on it mostly you don't feel it

I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!
