I used to umpire with Alfonso Marquez.....he's currently ranked the 3rd worse in the MLB.....when we used to work together in Amateur Baseball, I would BEG him to let me call 'the plate' (knowing that his "magical, wandering strike zone" would piss everyone off)......he'd never swap - consequently, i'd be constantly SCREAMED AT (while doing the bases) cuz of his shoddy 'work'. After a year or two - he came up to a few of us and said he was invited to MLB Umpiring 'Camp'......most of us were amazed until he told us it was because "they need more Mexican Umpires in Professional Ball".......but the one redeeming thing about Alphonso is that he KNOWS the fans haven't come to "see him" (which hernandez & his massive ego never realized)~

I think he quit before people found out he was gambling on games he was reffing . To be so blatant about stuff when he knows he’s wrong, Screams fixing games..

Bucknor and Diaz are horrible. Nepo baby Vic Carapozza is no prize. If Doug Eddings is still umpiring, he has to be in the running as well. And Mike Easterbrook, you can feel free to retire as well.

Between the personality conflicts, terrible balls and strikes, poor calls on the bases . He's got to go! If back in the day late 18 early 19 they had computer technology do you think they would use people. Can't wait to see the day when players have the precise accuracy they deserve.

The fact that he was in MLB since 1991 highlights an even bigger problem with MLB. In other jobs you get fired. In MLB you become the Energizer Bunny and just keep going and going and going. In light of some of his calls you have to believe he is betting on the games, and will make sure he always wins his bets.

Angel is the most hated because he is the biggest asshole.

Just once I wish I could just hear a player treat Angel Hernandez like Brandon did SCOTUS in the SOTU earlier this year and keep at it for hours on end even after being ejected. Or better yet jab at the POS with brass knuckles on

Zack Hample is doing nothing different then any other Baseball fan including myself would do. I would love to go to all Baseball stadiums and yes I would go for the ball its what fans do.

Umps like angel are why mlb is looking at AI solutions and it’s sad. Umps are important and should be treated like the athletes they judge. If they ain’t good let them go and take care of the good ones.

If compared to other umps, his calls behind the plate were actually pretty good. CB Buckner has more bad home plate calls than Angel ever had. The problem with Angel is he brought race into an argument that never existed. What it came down to, in my opinion, Angel Hernandez just assumed that being an umpire, he was untouchable. I’ve always wondered if both him AND C B Buckner bet on the game they’re umping in… Worth a look? I think so.

Umpires can be clutch like players. Angel did not have that at all. I also believe he made calls to get at players. Good riddance. I would have more respect but not going to give any after suing baseball. That was a joke
