Does anyone else think the dialogue in this last episode is subpar to all of the other episodes. The acting talent of both Reid and Anderson was almost wasted in the reunion scene by the script. In Louis’s revenge scene against Santiago, the dialogue was almost comical. I hope this doesn’t continue in Season 3.

The only book I actually read in its entirety is eclipse, the only book I actually enjoyed was breaking dawn after Bella wakes up as a vamp.

I really like Twilight. It's a good book and movie. My cousin got me hooked on the Twilight stories. I like Edward and Jacob both. Bella could treat both of them better. True! Edward is no Eric or Bill. Like we have in True Blood. It is what it is. I am team Jacob.

I remember finding the books immensely readable, only read the first 2 though. I was mostly listening while doing stuff around my place and I could tell when you started drinking 🤣

Both the body thief and a vampire are immortal. One jumps from one body to another, Lestat's body doesnt age. So in that way they are equal. And in the book, this is the first time Lestat has been able to have sex (in a human body). Which is definately not the case in the AMC series.

And then there's the movie version where Daniel is driving and suddenly Lestat appears in the car...

Lestat killing Roch sounds like the Monty Python sketch where their legs are chopped off etc.

12:07 well no.... its because he's an undead immortal with an unquenchable thrist for her blood(as vampires of this universe are incredibly bloodthirsty and strong) and any wrong move she makes by touching him could end up in him ripping her throat out and sucking her dry. All in which is the whole idea and concept of these books. The Lion and the Lamb. The predator overcoming what's destined for him, striving to do more with the hand he has been dealth. Proving he's capable of love. Twilight's supposed to be dark, thrilling, romantic, funny, scary, and everything put together. That's what makes it Twilight. And i feel as though you... and others sometimes let the cultural zeitgeist(which the movies are a big fault of) override what's known to what is written. But im glad you've picked up on the whole Bella being parentified thing. That's one of the many things that's gone unnoticed in the cultural zeitgeist. It is what fuels the story, what makes up the entire character. Because Bella is not bland, she has a wealth of attributes that make up her character and the story wouldn't make sense without understanding those crucial details. And another thing per the lore and worldbuilding of the story and of these vampires. Edward is 17. He's forever frozen mentally and physically at the age he was turned. All the vampires are. Which can lead to the immaturity we see with him and others as the series progresses. And that's why theres such internal strife and dilemmas within these vampires. Immortality is both a blessing and a curse. Now, if you are considering finishing finishing this series i do advise it. They're really fun and the prose is engaging. But do take into consideration the lore and the general make-up these characters and not just the outside social commentary

I think the wildest/worst part of the book was when they were talking about all of the physical trauma Rowan had undergone because of the continuous 🍇. The fact that she had a hip fracture just continues to haunt me.

I read Lasher before The Witching Hour (but after watching the Mayfair Witches on AMC and thinking holy hell this is crazy, how nuts was the series??) and after Lasher I felt like I might need to go to church (or have an exorcism maybe??) for the first time in over a decade. With that being said, The Witching Hour wasn’t as bad as Lasher but it’s still yucky as hell at times. And yes, listening to the audiobook is a slog at times when it becomes a history lesson. I will say this tho, Anne Rice clearly fell in love with the Mayfair family while she was writing.

I don't cringe much revisiting books as an adult, it's the T.V. shows I'm appalled by revisiting 😂😂😂

I can recommend you to read Vampire Kisses. Ellen Schreiber's characters are amazing. I hope you enjoy all nine books.

How does it feel to go into angsty, vanilla teenage vampires after the absolute chaos that is Anne Rice? (Personally, I have never read the Twilight saga, but I got to your channel thanks to the Vampire Chronicles, and I must say, when you were discussing the tear scene on this book, all I could think was "Edward, you poor, sheltered child, ever read Memnoch the Devil?")

Been doing the same thing! Re-read for the umpteenth time I 'The Master of All Desire' by Judith Merkle-Reilly. She's like Phillipa Gregory. Great lead females, mysticism, murder plots and all the shenanigans of the French Court during the tumultuous reign of King Henry & Catherine de Medici; Nostradamous is a hoot! Resparked my interest with the release of Season 2 of The Serpent Queen. Great historical fiction!

I actually thought the first book was pretty good….not fabulous, but good! It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s just so goofy and fun! The first movie is that way too…in my opinion. I really like a frivolous romance…so this isn’t too far from that. I’m here for your journey!

I love your reviews , I dont like sparkly vampires but you are so funny. I want to reread V.C.Andrews Casteel series. It's the Heaven series. I can do without rereading Flowers in the attic. One series you by another author you may like is The Blood dagger series by JR Ward. Very sexy vampires.

It pissed me off to no end that Anne Rice made Mona Mayfair, the little ho ho heir to the Mayfair fortune and she gets true love and she gets Quinn and she gets lestat and she gets everything else. Seriously what the hell pissed me off no end.

It's giving that situation when a person thinks they have a secret that they really hate about themselves but really everyone had that same issue the whole time. The whole world is a vampire but they are just over it.

The last Vampire Chronicles books always have me wondering what on earth was Anne Rice on... and where can I get it 😂 I seriously love your recaps so much, you're so much fun (and your casting is always on point)

I love that in episode 7, they said you can’t direct a hurricane in reference to Lestat going off script. Then in the abandoned house, the hurricane ruins part of Louie and Lestat’s moment for us cause you can’t direct a hurricane. It’s the little touches that bring this show home for me.

I'm currently reading it and it's not terrible but I see a lot of things that could be done better. I don't like the sloppy investigations, I don't like the way they're "falling in love". They way they think about one another just feels like lust to me and I don't like that she keeps going to his crime interviews with him. It seems a bit silly.

Blood Trials is so good! A book I got recently that I was so excited for and ended up reading almost immediately was The Honey Witch by Sydney J Shields.

when I found out Anne Rice had written a series on witches, I expected something more along the lines of how she wrote vampires (I guess), not introducing a whole other mythological species with a ton of sexual assault and trauma and eugenics/breeding programmes/themes. . .what a weird side of her body of work.

I LOVE that Louis was given the plot of calling out the other Vamps. In the book, I think that was Lestat with his music and concert, but having Louis take more the "come try me" approach was fitting. He IS a much cooler character on the show than in the books.

Damn! the characters in this novel are very fuckedup. Sorry dear you had to suffer through this😅

I also loved the aspect of perspective taking that the series handles masterfully. This was the first time we see or hear a bit Lestat's perspective. I say "a bit" because it is still being relayed by Armand and Louis, but the fact that we revisited the fight from his view and not Claudia's was brilliant.

I can't watch this whole video know, but I know what you mean. The very bringing beginning of the book is slow and tedious. Extremely tedious! I'm somewhere in the second book, and I'm not sure I can finish.
