I was the drummer in the resident band of St. Clare during the season of 1967. The girl who was to become my wife worked in the gift shop. It was a wonderful summer and we met many friends who's memory has stayed with us. We married a year later, and are still together.

I used to work in this amusement arcade and remember the great laughter machine in the 70's and 80's with the big model robot outside...it was basically a fun house with moving floors and a maze of mirrors etc..Happy Days!....thanks for the video fella, very interesting.

What a shame! I worked there in 1976 and 77 as a greencoat entertainer. I loved it!!!!. I,am 68 years old now and i still tell people that it was the greatest time of my life!!!!

I scaffolded this before it burnt down and the project manager of the build said "you watch it'll be burnt down in a year"...look what happened!

As someone who worked on the old site and now working in the new site. This is a weird thing to see. I was also born there! Fun fact. There is a Pokemon Go gym based where the gardens once were. I won't say where I was specifically but as soon as it started to rain heavily the roof leaked, the toilets were always blocked and birds were nesting in the roof (and this was in 2018).

My Father (a stone mason) built the fireplace in the house (4.40) in the 70's and also the entrance gates and a folly in the grounds. I went there with my parents for a while and it is such a shame to see it in such disrepair...

I use to spend my days at this house in the pool. This video brings back so many fun memories. Dave was an amazing man

I worked and lived at puckpool in late 70s . Hurricane Higgins came as a guest one night and wanted to cover me with wine 🍷 in bed . Had no clue he was , that angered him . I remember living in an old house top of the hill in puckpool , havens back then . Seemed grotty and dated back then .

It was finally demolished in late 2023, around 10-11 months after being severely damaged by fire. There had been work being done on the building and it was in scaffold prior to that since about 2019. The Rainbow Restaurant next door was also damaged, but luckily that did not have to be demolished and there are currently builders working there with the hope of it reopening in the spring of 2024. I remember the arcade from when I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s, it was then called Olympia and had Bumper Cars/Dodgems and [old] penny amusement machines. I remember the type of machine where you needed to shoot a metal ball into the right hole to win.

Thanks for this. I have great memories of the amusements. Did you see the Sega Rally machine? I couldn't see it. I used to love playing that game!
