Tony testing the Kingfisher
Getting used to using an outboard that isn't attached to a steering wheel, it takes a little practice.

Shane testing the Kingfisher
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 13 lety
Shane tested out my new McA Kingfisher on Gas Lake, Lough Muckno, Castleblaney, Co Monaghan. It looks pretty good, I think, and the 8 horsepower Honda outboard pushes it along nicely. The boat is very stable and has shedloads of room for all our fishing gear.
First fish on the Kingfisher

The first Pike caught on the first fishing trip out on my new McA KingFisher. Caught on Lough Muckno, Co. Monaghan. I wish the first fish could've been a twenty, but you can't have everything.
Sheelin on Muckno (Gas Lake, part of Muckno)
zhlédnutí 2KPřed 13 lety
A relaxing Sunday fishing on Lough Muckno, Castleblaney, County Monaghan. Due to an absentee, three of us fished from the Sheelin. There was still plenty of room for four rods. This video was taken when we returned to the jetty.
Sheelin First Outing

This is the first time Stevie had the Sheelin on the water. 19' long with a 10 horsepower Mariner two-stroke outboard. The engine pushes the boat along at a nice pace. This is at Bond's Bridge on the river Blackwater, near The Argory. Sheelin on Muckno: czcams.com/video/DOp6l-OwYTk/video.html

Minstrel Boy by Chief O'Brien in Star Trek
zhlédnutí 41KPřed 16 lety
Chief O'Brien sings "The Minstrel Boy" with his old captain, played by Bob Gunton.
Hi Tony, love the boat, where are you in this video ?
sorry Pat, didn't see your comment. We were on the Blackwater river in County Armagh/Tyrone.
MAAAAN ! That scene still hits me hard Bro. That pause & reflection then "I'm not gonna win this one, am I Chief ? No Sir." Writers and actors pulled it altogether on this one.
I mean look at the Story line....You see that the man was MORE soldier than SCIENTIST......he saw what no one else did or "refused" to see....labeled a warmonger & insane basically. Only to be proven RIGHT...He bet his life on it, his crew backed that bet with theirs. What was it Miles said before to a Cardassion ? "I don't hate you, I hate what you made me become."
Surprised to not see a single comment about how this tune plays during the DS9 finale when O'Brien is in his quarters.
Trim issue?
I have a similiar issue with my own boat, how can this be fixed? ive tried moving the engine up higher on the transom and ive trimmed the engine in and out.. doesnt seem to do much , bow always stays very high
@@MikeF0024 the engine was trimmed for three of us and all our gear on board. This video was taken after we had repacked the car and as you can see, there's only one guy on board now. You can adjust your trim on the engine mount by moving the spring loaded bar up or down in the holes it occupies. With one guy sitting at the stern it's better to have your gear up front to spread the load.
I always tear up when I see this scene
i am not going to win this one, am i chief, ...reply, thanks to the Dems in 2020 america, no sir !
What does this have to do with anything
Bob Gunton is a Vietnam veteran, I could see that soldiers look in this scene
To this day, this scene evokes deep emotions. Truly beautiful.
What I wouldnt do to get a full orchestra Star Trek version of that song.
This scene and the Doctor reciting the Hippocrates oath always make me tear up.
What size engine is on that please
It's a pity, really. Maxwell was right the whole time. ... And it did eventually come to bite the Federation in the ass. The Cardassian Empire had nowhere near the power necessary to fight off the Federation in a prolonged war, either. Taking them down there would've made it so the Dominion had a much harder time later on.
I always wanted to see a scene where the Klingons finished singing one of their war songs and asked a starfleet crew to sing one of theirs and this was their choice.
which episode is that? I love the klingons
I don't think the scene actually happened but it would have been a good scene.
It would've been awesome if they did it and the Starfleet officers broke out into "We Will Rock You."
I'd wish they'd done a little more of this.
Hope great Trek/SciFi like this will once return. Nowadays overhyped tv can't match this.
When the Dominion War started Maxwell should have been given back his command cuz there ain't no greater Kardashian killer the Maxwell and O'Brien and no Brian could have become the first officer on the Phoenix they could have fought the Dominion War tooth and nail Maxwell could have been walking around with the Kardashian neck bones hanging on him around his neck the Klingons would have liked Maxwell Maxwell should have joined the Klingon Defense Force during the invasion of cardassia
the hillbilly gamer ! My thoughts exactly.
YES
After seeing this episode along with what the Cardisians did, I thought that would have been a great way to bring this captain back to the chair.
+the hillbilly gamer ! 'there ain't no greater Kardashian killer the Maxwell and O'Brien'...except maybe, esophageal cancer.
So, as well as the Cardassians, Maxwell was targeting the Kardashians?
Two great actors. Bob Gunton deserves much more credit for his acting and performances as does Colm Meaney!
this scene always makes me cry. My favorite Next Generation ep.
Absolutely the best episode Maxwell was a warrior hardened by the atrocities of the enemy. The Chief has to come to grips with PTSD he has lived with for years in a very very short time I live his quote “I consider my self lucky, to have served with the two finest Captains in Starfleet”
@@user-qy9tv1nk1f I agree Captain Maxwell was a warrior plain and simple
@@engine22emt Perfect synopsis.
Beautiful scene. One of the best of the series.
I used to be a civil war reinactor, and I immediately understood this reference. :)
Roundhead or Cavalier?
@@Peoples_Republic_of_Devonshire apologies, the American Civil War. 20th Main, Company F on the Union's side.
I'm not going to win this one, am I, Chief?
No sir
Giving what happened in Star Trek Deep Space Nine later I wouldn't be surprised if Maxwell joined the Marquis or was given command of a Starfleet vessel considering he was a experienced Captain. May be the Admirals and Captains jailed were recruited by section 31 as Starfleet were definitely shorthanded as they lost at least 100 + ships and crew during the Dominion War.
This scene shows how good Star Trek:The Next Generation was at its best in a wonderful episode .Colm Meaney and Bob Gunton who played Captain Maxwell are both excellent actors and it was nice to see Rosalind Chao again as Keiko O'Brien.
No sir
As now, every now and then when I catch TNG and it happens it's this episode, this scene, this line.....it as powerful as the 1st time watching it.
Stompy!
+Uridien 1 how do you get a name like that? =)
+Adam Ski (Crazy Ski 1701) Soldiers stomping to the beat of drums.
Edward French works for me =)
Stompy aka Will Kane
Such a powerful scene with a beautiful song.
I would like to point out that the two people who dislike this video are dicks
I love the use of this song because it's also symbolic of the lone warrior going into battle... and being defeated. And the only one praising him being his own harp.
I don't think the song is about "the only one praising him being his own harp". I think that it's about the Minstrel Boy pledging his undying loyalty to his homeland (the "Land of Song"), and saying that even if all the world is against her, she'll always have his sword to defend her and his harp to "praise thee", "thee" being the "Land of Song" from the first line of the verse, not himself. The Minstrel is defeated, but he refuses to submit, preferring to die and to shatter his own harp than to live to see his home fall. You're definitely right about the first part though; Maxwell sees himself the same way the minstrel boy in the song did; as the last person willing to do what was necessary to defend his home.
or is he being obtuse
Nice
For those of us who played Star Fleet battles the episode was a wonderful rendition of suprize reversed.
yes him and the doctor still continued that in DS9 one thing i like in DS9 that miles is now more of a bigger role
"I'm not going to win this one, am I Chief?"
Super Saiya-jin Vegeta no sir
It's great for drifting, mckibben23, shortly after tha video was shot we tried it out on Lough Gara, Co. Sligo, it drifted squarely the width of the lake from the narrowing to the island opposite Templeronan pier. Shane (my brother) now has a Sheelin 19' but I much prefer the McA Kingfisher as it's lighter and faster and ya don't get soaked on a rough journey. You can see the Sheelin in a couple of my other videos.
how is it for drifting?
Wondering how this boat handles bad weather conditions, something like 4-6 feet waves?on Lough Erne it's quite usual waves like this. I using Brig 350 inflatable boat, which practicly inposible to overturn. Thanks!
I think it's the Moreen, which was the traditional piece of Irish music that the Minstrel Boy was set to. You can probably Google up a score or an instrumental only video with that.
They're black pips, which I guess denotes a CPO.
He reminds me of the fat Hobbit.
Question, I know that O'Brian is a CPO, but why does he have the 2 pips of a LT? And I would love to have CPO O'Brian as my NCO if I was in starfleet.
I think ST: TNG was a little bit confused about ranks, especially O'Brien's rank. He was initially a helmsman or navigator (which would have made him an officer), and then it seemed that he was still an officer and that people calling him "Chief" was because of his job title, rather than rank, and then somewhere along the line, they decided that he should be an NCO. Up until then, I don't think non-commissioned ranks were even portrayed in any ST. I do remember in either ST V, in either the movie or novelization, when someone is introduced to all of the Enterprise crew, she quips, "Don't you have any enlisted ranks?!?!" or something like that.
is there any way someone here knows where to find the instrumental (the part that sounds like orchestra playing) that begins on 1:01?
I am so in love with Bob Gunton.
agreed, some things are better without music!!
A beautiful song.
He was probably on the Jeffrey when he sang this.
I have found that chief O'Brian is the most respected and believeble chareters in this serires not only because my family is from Ireland but because he is more capable than anyone else through hard work, faith and dedication.
@KittyStarlight and here I was thinking Wesley was actually supposed to be torn apart by Klingons
A powerful, touching scene
Hi Irish Cort Man, it's actually my brother and his mate's Sheelin, I have a Fletcher Vigo, the Sheelin would do my back in after a days fishing although they now have a couple of swivel seats installed which makes it more comfortable. Nice guitar playing by the way.
Had a sheelin for about 6 years now and there hasnt been a single flaw!! Mind you it's hit a few rocks in it's time aswell!! All I can say is they are a brilliant boat, drift perfectly, maybe a little heavier than others but my 10hp Honda pushes her along nicely!!! Plenty of room too!!!
@Alan1701b I liked him because he grew up about 15 minutes away from me. Go on the Meaney!
@Alan1701b I think that was intentional. He was a Chief Petty Officer, meaning he didn't go to the academy. He was an enlisted man, so appealed to those of us who were less refined than say Wesley Crusher ;)
I'm pretty sure that the O'Brien that shot Sisko was a replacment and the Dominion had captured the real O'Brien but it's been awhile so I'm not sure
Eh. Don't bother. They rewrite the character and we find out he's actually a Dominion spy (he's a shapeshifter) when he shoots Sisko in ops. It's pretty ridiculous. Other than that it's a great show. You should see it.
