how about Inspiron 3647 power switch

I recently went through this, from a 2Tb to a 3Tb (2tb was failing). I wish I found this video before updating mine. I set up the 3Tb from scratch and it was a pain 😅. Also broke one of the case clips (even though I was trying to be careful). 😂

will this work if drive is setup on raid 1 with two drives each of 4tb and want to double the size to 8 tb each

I believe that WD is simply obliged to return the money to everyone for their products of such low quality and pay moral compensation. They make users suffer with their device if something happens to it. It is impossible to return access to the device to a simple user. You must have great knowledge. This is a big headache for the average user. I'm furious with WD. In my PC, I threw out all the HDD of this company. Never trust WD. Her devices are Prada Devil in beautiful packaging. I've already lost all my data twice and a lot of money. And data recovery cost 4 times more than the cost of the device itself.

I know this is old but I will help some ppl but if you de pin the 3 wires cut the blue one off put them on 3 5 and 6 or whatever the black ones are I think and you put the regular 2 pin power plugs on 3 and 4 it will work fine I had to deal with this too once I was moving this MB to another case for a plex sever

Any reason why I can't just use the Windows Partition Manager? I get all the physical steps of cloning the drive and swapping the new drive into the NAS enclosure... Why not just connect the new drive via USB/SATA external connector, and extend the partition to include the unused space?

What are your plans for the old case?

2023 Update. The new drive was fine but the controller card failed due to heat. I tried drilling holes in the case but it will only work with the cover off. Also by updating the firmware you lose remote access as it was deleted due to security issues. This unit has served me well and it is time to retire it.

could this be done with a 6bg drive and more?

Done one today boiled it for 10 mins and put it on with just a flat head screwdriver and my knee piece of piss to do if you need all of the above tools then I highly recommend switching diet from soyboy to meat

I use silicone Platinum lubricants to get it in just fine

You only need cable ties if doing it by yourself. Me and the Mrs did it by boiling for 20 mins and using WD40 around the rim and tire and levering it on and holding in place

This is a good method. I did something a little easier so I didn't have to heat my tire or work on the floor. After zip tying, I set the bottom of the rim and tire loosely in the vise, with a plastic protective vise jaw liner on the rim side away from me. I was then able to use a lot of WD-40, apply pressure to get the sides of the tire going on, and use a single tire iron to push the top of the tire on. I recommend the Motion Pro tire iron as probably the best available. It's strong, with a thin, wide spoon that allows the tire to slide over it and onto the rim. www.motionpro.com/product/08-0288

Did this recently, boiling for 15 minutes (a light boil) helped even more, and canola oil worked fine + soapy water instead of the grease, which I didn't have. Zip ties and wood setup are a must.

Zip ties and one longer tire leaver is all you need. No way to get it on with those shorter bicycle leavers. I didn't use boiling water or microwave. I installed the solid tire that is more rugged looking.

every single video i see of people doing this they try and push the tire bare handed onto the rim, instead of just putting the tire on a shallow bath of soap and instead put the rim on top and have a big flat piece of wood on the rim and just stand on the piece of wood.. flops right on..
