Hi, my name is Tolgahan Çoğulu. I am a guitar professor at Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory. At the moment, I am an academic researcher at Conservatorio Superior de Musica Rafael Orozco in Cordoba.

Microtonal for play folk music ?

microtonal music so beautiful and interesting becasue it is a totally different tradition. if you are a musician, you have probably spent most of your life (several decades) studying music, but when it comes to microtonal music, it is its own different thing, so you have several more decades of music to learn
Luckily, getting started with microtonality is much easier. When I started learning Chinese as a teenager, I thought that I would need to learn so many ten thousand characters. But as it turned out, much less will already make you so familiar with the system that all the new characters are not that scary anymore. But then you are on a journey. The same with music: Once you know the basics, it's a pleasant journey of exploration.

My twelve year old son plays lots of improperly fretted notes
Cool demonstration; I'm curious to hear a melody with those notes, rather than just up and down the scale itself. I hope you post some more!
You can probably find some music by searching the tuning system: 31-edo (equal divisions of the octave) or 31-tet (tones equal temperament).

What's the tuning? Something like drop D? Never saw this type of tuning for spanish music, yet it definetely works!

maybe like four wraps and a knot. look up baglama frets

Great ! I have a Roriguez and Sons Classical and a Yamaha SLG200N silent guitar. Neither of them sound in tune to me at the high end of the fret board.

Sometimes it's a justly intonated third, and sometimes it's ornamentation with a quartertone above. (Edited: I always confuse quarternote and quartertone, it has the same letters just the consonants switched...)
