    I’m currently trying to prepare for the Jan test date. I’m also a full time student at university. Do you think 4 months is enough time to prep for the exam? Or would you still recommend 6 months, and take it in Mar? I’m also a bit concerned because I’ll be applying to med schools soon next semester.

    Hey Phil! Thank you so much for this video. My goal for the MCAT is to make a certain threshold score (510). So, I am not trying to score in the 100th percentile like you did. I’m also trying to limit the cost of my MCAT prep. With that said, do you believe that UWorld is a necessity? I have the Kaplan books, Miledown Deck, Blueprint (4 FLs), and the AAMC bundle. However, I hear UWorld recommended so often that I am worried that I’m making a horrible mistake by not buying and using it. Thanks!

    Why don't you give people a simple guideline like if you are a 3.3 GPA and want to achieve a 507 mcat score then you need XXX hours total. And if you want to increase 1 point then you need an additional XXX hours. Same go for 3.6 GPA student with a goal of 510. etc.... Then the 3.9 gpa one will have a rough estimate how many total hours to achieve 515 or so. These are range and can be effect by many circumstances obviously but it is a +/- within 2-3 points

I think both types of cards are helpful, with cloze deletion cards being a bit faster to make. Experiment and find what works best for you! I would also learn how to use image occlusion cards, those can be really helpful!

    what was your secret for CARS?

    • @philratnasamy7240
      @philratnasamy7240 Před 3 lety

      My main advice for CARS is 1) Do LOTS of practice, ideally 2-3 passages a day throughout your prep, 2) Read for the main idea - not details. Look for ideas repeated throughout the passage and use those to answer the questions 3) Don't go back to the passage after reading it unless the question explicitly tells you to 4) Skip questions if you can't answer them within a minute

      Honestly... you can do it too! It really comes down to practice and a little bit of luck. I did pretty average on my SAT in high school, but I practiced for my MCAT consistently for 6 months and felt the exam become way easier over time! The key is being critical of yourself. If you miss something, go back and try to understand that topic, don’t just move on!
