ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
* My book, Satisfying Stitches: Learn simple Embroidery Techniques and Embrace the Joys of Stitching by Hand, is available wherever books are sold! Here are a few handy links to various retailers: www.hopebroidery.com/book
* Learn Hand Embroidery is a simple page on my website with nearly* all of my tutorials categorized and linked: www.hopebroidery.com/learn (*only “nearly,” as I’m sure I’ve forgotten to add a thing or two here and there!)
ADDITIONAL TUTORIALS
* Back stitch: www.hopebroidery.com/post/back-stitch, Back stitch is possibly THE most important stitch for a beginner to learn! This simple stitch is easy, versatile, and incredibly beginner-friendly.
* Stem stitch: www.hopebroidery.com/post/stem-stitch, This simple stitch follows curves easily and produces an interesting rope-like, twisted effect.
* Stem stitch versus outline stitch: www.hopebroidery.com/post/stem-stitch-vs-outline-stitch, Stem and outline stitch are essentially the same, depending on how you're holding your hoop! In this post, I go through a few of the key differences between the two, just in case you need a bit of help understanding which one is which.
* Whipped back stitch: www.hopebroidery.com/post/following-a-curve-with-whipped-back-stitch, Whipped back stitch is a great way to take your normal back stitch to the next level, as it essentially "smoothes" out your lines of back stitching, resulting in a super sleek look to your work.
* Split back stitch: www.hopebroidery.com/post/using-split-back-stitch-to-follow-a-curve, Split back stitch has very similar steps to back stitch, making it beginner-friendly and versatile, but results in a more interesting texture as you follow your curved lines.
* Couching: www.hopebroidery.com/post/couching, Couching allows you to stitch curves by "couching" one strand of embroidery floss down with another. You can also use this technique to incorporate bulkier materials into your hand embroidery, such as yarn, roving, or macrame cord!

    Can I use this tutorial on a Tshirt?

  • @witness4Him
    @witness4Him Před 19 dny

    Nope. I put the outside ring inside because it stops your thread getting constantly caught on the tightner. So that the hoop is outside in.

    • @hopebroidery
      @hopebroidery Před 17 dny

      Oh I’ve totally seen people do this I think, but are you saying it’s different than flipping the hoop upside down and stitching on the “back”? 🤔 Trying to best visualize it for myself because it sounds nice!

    • @witness4Him
      @witness4Him Před 17 dny

      @@hopebroidery I think its the same thing, yes. I got fed up untangling my thread. Yes. I checked. You can just put your hoop on the same way but stitch your design on the opposite side.

    • @hopebroidery
      @hopebroidery Před 21 dnem

      I love this question! You can totally use the same hoop again and again, you'd just want to have a pan in place for how to frame your pieces as you take them out of the hoop. I have always kept mine in their hoops for framing because I'd rather not learn alternative ways to frame right now (HA!!), but it sounds like you would like to learn! If so I'd be searching for things like "how to frame embroidery piece outside of hoop," and consider looking into the RSN embroidery book, they've got some instructions in there for this topic!

    So glad i decided to look through your past videos. I am just starting out and have all my designs in old fashion paper and pencil. This app is amazing and you taught how to use it so beautifully and detailed. I don't have an ipad but will be investing now. Thanks for this tutorial it will forever be saved and will come back to it to remind myself how to make patterns and coloured designs.

      Oh my goodness this is my very favorite way for people to get my book! If you need the patterns for transfer, they’re on my site!! (There’s a URL in the actual book but if you go to my site and tap on the book tab it’s right there, too! We did that in case people who got the book from the library especially wanted to print them out 😇) Email me if you have any questions or wanna share!! Yay!!!
