Your company needs to come up to speed with wire tensioning - have a look at the Hayes Chain Walker been around for ever or the relatively new Fence Line Solutions wire tensioner. What you are showing is so archaic and primitive.

I always wrap twice around end post, tie a termination knot the 6 wraps around the wire. No loose wire that way.

My mistake was using 12.5 gauge sleeve on a 12 gauge brace wire which didn’t crimp the wire well together and slipped and detached when I tighten on my strainer. My local tractor co didn’t have any 14 gauge sleeves.

You lost me at leave a bow in the wire, that’s tight enough😂 most wire needs a good stretch and then tighten it up until it’s twang tight. 🤔

1 person can pull a roll of barb wire across the ground much easier than 2 people can carry it while unrolling. If the bottom wire is put that low to the ground it does no good unless you are running sheep or pigs.

I want you to come out to where we live. We don't have nice soil like you have we would be lucky to dig down six inches before you hit rock you ither have to have a rock drill or a Pneumatic driver to get the steel post in. We use rock bucks for our corners or in the middle for pullers. So you need to remember that not all of us can just Simply dig out a hole with a post hole digger.

  • @melvinrexwinkle1510

I've done a lot of fencing, too for myself and have seen what lasted and what didn't. The best fence I have ever built has 4 in diameter posts for end posts and braces with 2 in. Pipe for horizontals and has two brace posts and the vertical end and brace posts are concreted in the ground too and I will pull each strand until it breaks, that way you have all the stretch out of the wire. I will stretch the top wire first, and I will never put my hands or body next to or on the stretched wire until I have some of it tied to several posts in the middle of the stretch, if that wire breaks it will definitely draw blood on you. You can walk down along your wire after you stretch it with a t post and pick the wire up and move it over with the end of the tee post. The entire process of building the fence is no better than the end posts or corner posts and the braces. Sou if you want a fence that lasts 50 years in a climate where it rains 40 inches of rain a year, don't use railroad ties, or cedar posts, but use thick wall steel, not rusty and thin steel pipe, in concrete or one can use wood posts if they are 8 to 12 inch in diameter and are called hedge, bois D' ark, or Osage orange all names for the same tree, I have seen them that are 75 years in the ground and still good in Eastern Oklahoma where the ground is not frozen very deep or for very long and they get an average of 40 inches of rain per year The red brand wire has good sharp and long barbs and are closer spaced than anything else I have seen

At 1:24, I not you are carrying the roll of wire, sometimes, this has to be done however, the way i do it is, I put my hay spear on tractor, put my roll of wire over the spear level and roll the wire where it rolls off the roll over the top and we drag the end of the wire to our tie off or pull post with hand if not far or with side by side utv if a lot of distance. We nail that off on our pull post then use the tractor as an anchor to stretch strain of wire from. We then just go to each wooded post and loose stable at the hight we want seeing that we have already tensioned wire to tension we want then they come behind us clipping the T post where the wire lays as it falls between each wooden post.

I've watched a few of these videos. I can't figure out why they dig the post holes by hand. they always have machinery handy. As an interesting aside: Height versus Heighth. I hear the second version a lot in rural locales. The second word (heighth) doesn't exist in modern English. There was a word like that in Middle English in the 1800s. It has an e on the end like so: heighthe. That doesn't exist anymore either
