Semi-serious educational content about the culture and history of Central & Eastern Europe!
I’m Anna, the Transylvanian villager and I make videos, and my videos revolve around showing a more realistic image of this side of the world, widely different from Eurotrip’s Eastern Europe scene. I present the culture of my homeland in a way you cannot see it in a Transylvania travel vlog, showing the reality of the mysterious land associated with Dracula, Resident Evil: Village, and Hotel Transylvania.
I'm also passionate about Balkan culture, and I absolutely love researching and creating content about this topic, with the use of Balkan folk dance clips and funny Balkan videos.
If you want to explore this topic from the perspective of an Eastern European woman, narrated with a stereotypical Eastern European accent, subscribe to my channel.

WHY ROMANIAN MYTHOLOGY IS SO WEIRD
Romanian mythology, deeply rooted in Romanian culture and traditions, encompasses a rich tapestry of folk tales and mythical creatures. Within Transylvania, a region renowned for its folklore, tales of strigoi and other supernatural beings abound. These creatures, alongside a myriad of Romanian mythical creatures, populate the Eastern European folklore landscape. Romanian folk stories reflect the resilience and creativity of the people, often weaving elements of nature and everyday life into captivating narratives. Through these tales, Romanian culture and traditions are preserved and celebrated, offering insights into the region's history and beliefs. Transylvanian traditions, influenced by a blend of cultures, contribute to the diverse tapestry of Eastern European folk tales and fairy tales, showcasing the enduring legacy of storytelling in the region.

Why did Eastern European women fight in wars? Who was the pirate queen who terrorized the Romans? What about the girl who became an assassin after her classmates introduced her to radical political ideas? Or the girls who snuck into the army disguised as men? My video delves into the often-overlooked history of Eastern European women who joined armies and lead battles. So, let’s explore the rem...

Honestly only those who grew up and lived in the Balkans and experienced life here can really understand this area, the rest are theories, guesses, just information without anything practical
Ansambl v intru je me zelo presenetil, le za to bo en všeček! Ansambel je zakon!
Such ana amazing video, you’ve managed to discuss all the importances of the Witcher games such as CD Projekt themselves, faithfulnes of the adaptations, music and slavic mythology! Really enjoyable and I appreciate your work! Much love, cheers! ⚔
Wait you expect mythology to be normal..?
I like how you called the Bulgarian kukeri cool and the Croatian ones furries LOL!
We arent vampires. We dont eat hearts. We are ordinary pleople. Pls, dont make with us jour legegent from Louisiana.
Kooool!
My Romanian friend asked me to hit her hand three times on several occasions. What is the reason behind anyone knows?
where the pokol is that stop-motion clip from i need to know :D
a good combo would be “a kibaszott kurva életbe” :)
Hey, I live there!
i love hearing abt my country. the video was great! just subscribed. what s the game that keeps appearing throughout the video?
Just found you! Love the video. I look forward to seeing more.
I was in Ljubljana for a week, a month ago. Loved it there.

Well I am personally extremely pleased to know that such a great thing as The Bear 🐻 Dance exists, and hope Anna does another amazing project entirely dedicated to exploring it 😊
Unfortunately i dont have a granny for over a decade by now. I barely knew the one from my mother's side while the one from my father's side passed away before i was born. So i didnt have a chance to taste their food.

Hu. Nice video. Please tell me what music is in the outro. It's beautiful. Thank's.

I love this!!!❤
6:35 Regarding the feasting tradition during the Pastele Blajinilor in Moldova, I know that it's not very common even around Eastern Europe, but spread in the Russian side of the continent. So I once stumbled upon a video discussing slavic funeral rituals and it turns out that the tradition to make a feast on the grave and have a recollection day for all the deceased buried at that particular grave is coming from the Kurgan culture.
2:43 change that to picka picka
I cant agree with someone who dont care about USA warcrimes
You should read the books of Antoaneta Olteanu " Mitologie Română" ,but only if you know Romanian Language .It will be translated soon, but not yet.Three large volumes and a life of real hard work. And you wanna talk about rimanian mithology in 23 minutes. Not to mention that you have no ideea about this subject. Oh dear!
Girl, I just discovered you today and this reel just made me cry in laughter. The amount of ignorence and some “attacks” that people have is astonishing! 😭
Weird? Maybe Beautiful? Totally!!!
Slavic women have always been girl bosses, especially as they become babushkas. slavic grandma and mum are the living proof of that.
Drum&Bass fuck yeah. There was this video of this Russian(?) guy with blue shoes shuffling and he looks exactly like me, so I had to learn it too.
This is because only the most fucked up Romans survived surrounded by slavs and turks
Bravo
29:48 not evil... they wait in certain night at crossovers and if they see someone with less faith in God they appear to him and tempt him . If he agrees he is generally found dead the next days somewhere close. Not evil at all...
21:01 capcaunul is a big cannibal human that sometimes have magical powers. Zmeii are most time humans like Dahaka in zoroastrism. So many things you get wrong
It started well but went downhill fast. While elements of fairy tales can be considered mythology they themselves are not mythology. Also you wrecked every fairy tale character out there.
Oh... Romanian. I misread as Roman. Still, now I'm here I may as well watch something new :)
Sad for not mentioning King Tamar with Saint Olga
16:30 Capra "she-goat" dance is related with Capricorn zodiacal sign in December-January.
14:20 ”Înstruțatul boului” (crowning oxen) is related with the "fire" Taurids meteor shower at Rusalii/Rusalka (Pentecost) in June-July... while in October-November we have another Taurids meteor shower connected with the fire celebration of Sâmedru (Saint Demetrius, Deus Mithra - slayer of bulls).. aka Halloween/Samhain... Jack o'lantern, when the Saints are marching in... and so on. I need to mention that in Romania we have two "Haloweens": 1 - "Fire of" Samedru on October 25-26th (when the gates of the Underworld are opened and people mourn their love ones in cemeteries... basically "when the saints are marching in")... 2- Saint Andrew, on November 30th (Saint Apostle Andrew - "the first one who was called" .. also patron saint of Romania - is the same as Odin/ Wotan/ Saturn/ Cronus/ Zamolxis/ Moloch/ Saint Nicholas/ Santa Claus/ Krampus... patron of wolves and ravens. eater of his own - cooked in fire - children)... ho-ho-ho ("aho, aho children and brothers") down the chimney, and eating "Gingerbrean Man" cookies.
Kartvelians mentioned! I'm always shocked how similar some narratives and characters are to Caucasian mythologies especially to Kartvelian, but Romania is just on the Other side of the Black Sea and part of same historical drama. Love to learn more and find more similarities with Georgian and Romanian mythologies
Tire Machèt in Haiti is another sword "dance" with music. It originated from some blade styles in West Africa Ewe and Balanta
Fascinating, the girl from Germany, her commentary is litteraly not a Romanian thought process but a woke westerner.
