I'm sorry your bummed out. You say what's the point, there's no purpose. I'm an old gamer like you(get off my lawn you dang kids!). But I have alot of medical problems and I'm bed bound. I have literally an army of doctors and I take drugs by the handful. I've been in so many hospitals, so close to death many times. I had a doctor in tears when I woke, he thought I was going to die. Anyways I haven't been able to play anything in 5yrs. Then I watch your videos and get a break from all my garbage. It's nice to see an old gamer like me talking excitedly about a new game or waxing poetically about an old one, it lifts my heart. Your an honest man giving honest opinion without the flash and glitz. So I want to thank you for all your videos, I learn alot.

Rob, I’ve had a rough couple of years and hit bottom twice, almost giving up on life. I took a break from social media and realized how much I had let it consume my life and how much time I had wasted on it. I couldn’t stay completely away from it all and slowly started watching some board game content on YT again. I have to feed my Shadows of Brimstone and dungeon crawler addiction after all. Anyways, maybe a break from it all would be good. Focus on what’s important and spend time being selfish for once… enjoy your family, the farm, your favorite games. When you’re ready, come back and share some videos of what you’re passionate about and have fun. We’re all getting too old to get caught up in other people’s drama and letting it suck away our time and energy. While you may not have the views or popularity as other channels that doesn’t mean that your channel is less than the others. The conversations you have about your life experiences, the perspectives that you share, etc are valuable and probably one of the reasons many of us continue to watch. If you’ve touched even one life and changed their lives for the better, it’s been worth it. That should be the measure of success, not views, likes, or subs. Take care of yourself, Rob.

Rob, I’ve said this before…I’ll say it again…our childhood backgrounds are so similar it’s eerie. Enjoyed the gripping (right with you there…) and the reminiscing.

Honestly, it was really awful of fantasy flight to even release 3rd edition as an “edition.” It’s just a completely different game with the same setting.

People, activists, have injected themselves into things people love because they can't create. F that noise. D&D is the perfect example of that. Nothing will ever be the same as it was but it doesn't mean you can't have fun.

The Internet has turned into complete chaos where everything good and bad bleeds into reality outside a computer screen. And because of info traveling to our fingertips instantly, we're on media overload with what you have to use your moral compass to decide what's real and what's not and what's moral. We all need to put our phones down and live life without someone telling you you're doing it right or wrong. We need to get back to basics and live life with normalcy. I'll be 54 this year and I'm trying hard to take time out and focus on things I used to do that don't involve a cell phone or computer. Hard to do when I'm in IT, but I have to just walk away when I can.

Rob, i feel you 100% we've lived long enough to see things repeat, and we dont have time for nonsense. We are all depressed. There is a lot wrong and it weight on us. This weird way we live (thanks to social media) has affected us all. The rules changed while we were playing. Its not just you. You keep doing what you do, ill keep watching and well get through it. You dont need flashy videos, just honest ones. 👍🏼👊🏽

52 years old white male, political centre left (although my wife reckons I am left), and I agree with much of what you have said about the internet meaning that people are really lacking life and social skills in the real world - meaning that they do stupid things that I don't think we would have done when younger. But I would also say that the board game world wasn't as welcoming to everyone back in the day as we like to believe - whether by gaming theme or content. And I am glad this side of the hobby has changed. But anyhow, thanks for the thoughts and looking after yourself during hurricane season.

We live in a culture where victimhood is seen as a perk, and mental illness is celebrated. Why I don’t watch a lot of creators in this space, like Rahdo who LITERALLY put their politics on their shirt. This push for “diversity No Matter What” is honestly killing a lot of forms of entertainment, because its “the message“ first, and quality far and away last I play board games, watch movies enjoy video games to ESCAPE reality not be reminded of it. Sadly these spaces are being taken over by activists and consulting firms that push DEI, propaganda, and whatever into every facet and push us away. Also don’t get me started on the Olympics. A pure mockery of Christianity, which I would bet money they would not dare mock Islam. Like you, I’m tired of the shit, and tired of being silent about it.

The internet is a cesspool, no doubt, but not on your channel. I tune in because I love many of the genres of the games you play. I love Godzilla making the cash grabs. What channel likes comic books, war games, sports, fantasy, sci-fi, and RPGs? You channel mirrors what I love. I have watched you for so long that I feel bad when you are low (like your injured arm), and up when you are up. You are like a friend that I have never met. Get the peace you need and I look forward to seeing you when you get back.

Hi Rob. 70 years old here and I love your videos for their thoughtful commentary. You Tube is my main online entertainment when day is done and between you, GeekGamers and Daniel at Dungeon Dive, I get my gaming fix. I don’t see much of that weird stuff you are talking about because my favorite You Tubers paint landscape paintings in Plein Air. I love my vanilla world.

"News for profit" has started all this. Then, they started putting "opinions" from their cast in news. Now, some stations are 24/7 fearmongering and anger triggering to get the most viewers. I watch PBS news because they only report "news". Fox paid an almost billion-dollar judgement for lying to their viewers about the election being stolen, and the head of Fox said after they lost in court, and I quote: "It was not about Red or Blue, it was about Green". And they are STILL at it, even with another 2.5 billion lawsuit coming soon. They spend years getting people angry and terrified, then those same people go on the internet. . . .

I'm 31. If you decide to stop I get it but I personally watch you BECAUSE you are not flashy and fake. Growing up almost all adults I knew hated anything fantasy, comic books, ect... it is great to see someone twice my age talking about how much fun they had playing a dungeon crawler. We have enough overproduced ad infested channels. A godzilla loving old school gamer however, we have very little of, and it is a shame.

There is a mentality that "I am invincible" because of the anonymous nature of the internet and there is a lack of fear of getting "smacked in the mouth or knocked out" - I was born in 1980 and as a result had that fear of mom or dad reprimanding me - the current generation of kids (anyone under 25 is a kid still in my mind) has not had to contend with that and we as a country have became "soft" IMO from participation trophies and everyone is a winner - losing is a good thing as is being checked occasionally

From what I see from my safe distance of Balkan is that American culture in last 10-12 years went down the drain. You were cool, brave, free, unapologetic, entertaining and daring. Now you just tremble all the time, scared what will someone say or what you can say about someone. Very sad.

Don't forget to level up! You get points for defeating monsters and disarming chests. I collected a whole bunch of minis, chests and tiles and started playing again after more than 20 years 😄
