What am I supposed to interpret from this video. It has zero description and I do not know what date this is taken and what time this is taken. Furthermore, why are there so many stores with the sliding metal gate drawn down, are they out-of-business or just not open for business at this time of the day. My main question is where are everybody? A lot of the houses are single stories, where do the people live?

Much of the commercial signage is in English. All of the high rise residential has been built in the last twenty or thirty years. In revolutionary times, i.e. when Mao was the ruler, I would conjecture that this city was undeveloped.

Rural? This is near the metro Chengdu City. The metro area houses population of nearly 6 MILLION. This is a small satellite town. Most of the video shows commercial rather than residential areas. Note the residential and the commercial are highly interlaced in China. Author should show the distance to nearby COMMERCIAL farmland and pasture farms, rather than small plots of veggie farms. The Chinese in general are not into frozen or canned veggies (good for them!), and small plots of veggie gardens are common.

That looks surprisingly wholesome for something being cooked out on the sidewalk, lots of vegetables, it's not just some oily fried stuff. This is much better than my standard cooking at home! It looks like an actual restaurant kitchen, sitting outside. If there was anything like this where I live, I'd be standing there waiting for him to open.
