Venice Biennale 2024 | Foreigners Everywhere | Germany Pavilion | Thresholds | Giardini
Every moment is a threshold between the vanishing past and an unclear future. This uncertain, intermediate position of the present applies equally to everyone. For those affected by migration, however, it is a fundamental three-dimensional and bodily experience, because the current state of migration is always one of living at the intersection of different belongings. This is where the historiographical and, thus, political difference from the dominant societies’ primarily territorial or national perspectives lies. Under the title Thresholds, the German contribution explores history and the future in three scenarios:
In the first scenario, artist, photographer, and filmmaker Yael Bartana departs from a present perceived as catastrophic; a world on the brink of total destruction.
In the second scenario, the theatre and opera director Ersan Mondtag develops a space that contrasts the monumental character of the pavilion with a fragmentary, seemingly minor narrative.
In a third scenario, the contribution engages in building a bridge to another location outside the Giardini: the island of La Certosa. Here the artists Michael Akstaller, Nicole L’Huillier, Robert Lippok, and Jan St. Werner create a resonant space with works that focus on the significance of the moment of temporal and spatial transition.

    This reminds me of a really corny theme park ride instead of actually showing you grit from the Street it's like an opportunity for rich people or fortunate people to walk through the mind of a chaotic genius artist... but in stage you've got a trundle through attempts at young kids who aren't even searching to find their way but instead just to copy the last artist with their highly curated dishevelled artistic look that attempts to emulate a sense of expression but also being very particular as if they have honed in on there craft for 50 years and rested finally at a place where it is complete and finished in its minimalism..... Man truly the shit is fucking bad is this where art is supposed to be heading? Into the bloody bin. I'll put $100 bet that no one bought any of this shit. not even rich people with disposable incomes want this trash in their house,

      @@eyekim5140 I would really try and refrain from using this style of art, this looks like the kind of stuff that you do when you're applying to go to art school this is not during or should be final Works. I mean it does actually pinpoint a very important part of art in the conversation that it has between the industry the patrons and the people… It's so lack Luster and doesn't scream out anything but boredom and KIDS fluffing around pretending to be the people that they idolise in the school books that they been showing by their teachers… What I would suggest is to do more research I would probably try and develop an idea and communicate it without the need of a paragraph plate to go along with it. if the art doesn't provoke you to have an experience of your own it's lifeless and if it's lifeless the artist has failed at their job of communicating and emotional place to the viewer. It's almost like they are taking the piss out of their idles by having a go at doing it themselves but that shit should be done in private it shouldn't be the start of a young artists career but maybe it will help some of the artists who actually are obsessed with their craft that they just use it out and they will look back on this video and hopefully will make them want to head in a direction as far away as what they released here… There's so many of these are student projects and what art shows you is that not everybody should be doing it some of the Works I see here just look like paint by numbers some of the Works scream out to me that the artists doing the work would rather be hidden by the mask of an artist then to actually try and find some form of thought emotion or Energy like at least do something that doesn't reek of bland boredom… It looks like the artists doing this kind of stuff I just trying to pass the grade and if they just copy whatever the teacher told them to do then they can't technically fail and then they get to walk out of a school with hundred and $50,000 and then they use it to try and leverage getting a job curating art pieces as of they know what art is because they dabbled with it and pretended to be an artist when they were back in School copying other people.. The fact that it's a university institution is already a huge giveaway sign, my suggestion would be save your money get a real job and leave the art to the artists who can't do anything else but art

  • @reecemcnaughten4160
    @reecemcnaughten4160 Před měsícem

    Holy shit honestly anyone doing this type of art seriously needs to kind of recalibrate their life this is the most lost art of ever seen it's steeped in ego, and tries to hide behind itself as a statement of art. There is no expression in this shit at all, as an artist you've got a job to do and it's to translate experience or put people in a space that makes them have an experience… This is just junk in a room it's been done 1 million times before you take one of these pieces and you put it out of the context of a white walled institution, and you popped it in the corner of a ghetto alleyway, you wouldn't be appreciating it, it would just be junk, it's not interesting it doesn't say anything about the artist beyond the fact that they have no ideas. That there is a lot of time and effort put into producing absolutely nothing, is that what it is?, is it just representing nothingness, but in the form of art?, there's no life to these Works, I was waiting for something to captivate me to show me what these people are doing what they've gone through, and none of it speaks, it doesn't even say anything it's just nothingness, all of this art belongs to the 60s 70s and 80s, it's done now we can leave this shit behind we can move on, it's failed and its attempt to be mysterious and instead reveals the ego of the artist trying to separate their human emotion from actual art because they're terrified of being judged, because they're terrified of banging ridiculed for their unintelligent thought and instead actually are just making a laughingstock of themselves, this is kind of what happens when you're too shy or too scared to express yourself so then you put on a silly Billy mask and say I don't even care blah blah blah blah, it's like the most self aware self-conscious way of expressing how you can't express anything,..,,,, what's fucked up is that these artists are paying thousands of dollars to learn how to produce shit

    Lots of great art being produced 2024… I am interpreting this art as a reflection of how people thinking as in their creativity is just recycling trash in meaningless ways to try and convince you that it's much more complex than it really is… it's like camouflaging a turd but in plain sight so you start to think the steaming pile of shit is actually really really deep… But at the end of the day you just staring at a pile of shit
