Kenneth Horne too much emphasis...
Best in the business!🎉
This is incredibly hard to pull off!!
8mm film with sound stripe?
Who was the blonde that played Detrich? she was beautiful
I’m not sure about the shows are taped and aired on syndication, the first one was taped in September 23, 1978, aired in November or December 1978 because the episode number is #311, The second one was taped in Mid 1977, aired in Late 1977.
Is this taped in September 23, 1978?.
None of the so called music of today can ever come close.
8:26 I saw the NBC Camera.
Where is the diversity? I've been lied to, they managed in 1954 without it.
What year was this?
21:50 i didn't know viv wore wigs as that definitely a wig and a "fake mustache" dont yiu think
Now this is comedy!!!
Love billy.sorry viv ...
Paul is Vivian right ? Lmao
17:58 1977.
0:00 1978.
Chuck got a black eye in the 1977-1978 season.
The manager's awful.
Any chance you could reupload this in higher res or is this all we've got?

Oh Lord , it 's Quelch !
Antilope and repelephant spring immediately to my mind.if you dont get it, then that is your loss.
A little bit of sanity in a world gone utterly mad.
Portsmouth intro.
I preferred the orchestral version which sounded great.
I LOVE THE OLD GONG SHOW SiGN SHOULD HAVE SAID YOU CAN'T BE TOUGH ON ME! CHRIS HOCH
I LOVE THE OLD GONG SHOW SIGN SHOULD HAVE SAID IT TAKES A GREEN TICKET TO KISS ME 💋! CHRIS HOCH
Total brilliance.
Has a GO at it??!! He ATE IT.ALIVE! WHAT A TRUE BAD ASSED. MUSICAL GENIUS AND WHAT A TOO PERCUSSION MA A STRR HE WAS INDEED! R I P MR JONES..
😅 the loneliest "knight" of the year... The whole thing really exploits the visual abilities of television. Unlike a lot of early TV shows, this wasnt just an illustrated radio program.
This is called real act by talented artists.
00:42 That ascending harmony tickled somebody on that stage :) This is a video that just keeps giving. Love when ole Spike comes in and joins them at the break. Great arrangement too. This whole performance was just pure wholesome joy and fun.
Spent many a happy hour on Wigan NW station and at Springs Branch sheds. Thanks for the memories!
I wonder if Wierd AL was inspired by Spike Jones???
This is the funniest thing I've seen all week, thank you!
Must be a later episode - no Kynaston Reeves as Quelch and an awful electronification of the Vaughn Williams theme music.
Why don't we have good wholesome fun like this these days instead of not fullly swearing talentless comedians And I'm NOT a prude in any way
Innocent times, it's hard to say why it all went wrong to today's quagmire

Who's the short haired blonde lady who does the Marlene Dietrich skit amongst others?
Joyce Jameson.
He played Paul McCartney for a while
I like spike and his band !
I just love “Equestrian Statue” and “Summer Walks and Quiet Talks”. Neil Innis is such a great songwriter. Viv had a wonderful, resonant voice. The band flew about on Dadaist wings.
I used to sing Statue and Hunting tigers to my grandson, hope he remembers them, he's 20 now.
I'll bet that was just as much fun doing as it is watching!
Too true!
And, oh those trousers!
All my long life l’ve been laughing at my memory of Spike Jones! I wish he knew people still laughed at his work for and after 😆so many years.
I'm sure he's still making 'em laugh up there!
Classic stuff from early TV
More creativity packed in 7 minutes than most shows today. Needs a million views to educate people. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Spike for making our lives better.
My first Saturday job was working in a pet store and I suggested to the boss we start opening Sundays; he agreed as long as I worked solo. Great on two counts - I earned another £7.30 and I got to listen to my choice of radio. It was invariably Radio 4 and always the highlight was when Round The Horne was broadcast at 12.27. It was already at least 13 years old then but was the naughtiest, funniest, campest, cleverest comedy I had ever heard. It is half a century old now and still the naughtiest, funniest, campest, cleverest comedy I still ever heard - BBC radio's finest half hour.
Great memories, not much humour around these days.
