Couldn't agree more!Thank you so much for the support.
Ive been told many times not to wire jade. Started this years ago from a baby hoping itll turn out great. Im at a road where there needs change but im scared what do
Make sure soil has been dry for week. When the branches are full of water the snap very quickly when bent but if the plant is not watered for a while then it uses the water in the branches as well as the leaves making it easier to bend the branches. Once the tree is dry start bending them slowly.
@@dwarfjadebonsai thanks :) Just did massive pruning can't wait to see it in a few months
@@littlewigglemonster7691 Sounds awesome. Always exciting watching the canopy filling back in. Keep me posted
Meravigliosi!!!
Thank you very much!
Amazing Jed bonsai collection . Thank you.
I hope I'm right in assuming the stone is a local pumice from its white texture? If so, I can confirm this simpler mixture performs extremely well in the UK also - I did it by accident one year after I had to emergency repot after one was smashed after being knocked off of its stand. My usual supplier was out of stock, so I only had leftover pumice and pine bark, instead of my usual which also had lapillo and molar clay. The simpler mix outperformed my others by far, so I've switched to it on all P. afras since with much denser foliage pads and shorter internodes. And its impossible to overwater when they're outside in summer, even when we get week long consecutive rains every few months. I also really appreciate his embracement of African styles instead of more conventional bonsai forms. They are much more unique and stand out imo.
Thank you so much for the comment and info. This soil mix is so simple but like you say work so well. Agree, the African style are an untapped gold mine. They are such beautiful tree styles.
Calling a spekboom (Portulacaria afra) a dwarf jade (Crassula ovata) is technically incorrect, as they are totally different species, and "dwarf jade" is a misleading name.
Hi Ray, thanks for the comment. Yes, you are 100% correct. I live in Cape Town, and obviously we call it Spekboom here but in many countries overseas its called Dwarf Jade and even Jade plant . We cant choose what common names these beautiful plants are given in other countries.
sjoe, baie mooi
Baie Dankie :)
Finally, someone else who isnt scared to wire succulents, I have a large collection of Crassula and Portulacaria
Many don't think you can wire them, but if you know what you are doing you can get some very impressive results with wire. Thank you for your comment and for watching :)

These plants are full of water, in their leaves as well as in the trunks and branches. They can go for weeks without any water.
Can you give the details of the packs of earthworm soil? What is that exactly? Great video.
Hi There, thank you very much. The mix in the black fertaliser pods is a home made fertaliser mix consisting of Bone Meal, Bounce Back, 2/3/2 (fertaliser) and Worm Tea. Hope this helps?
Thank you. Great samples of effort.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support!

Where is this?
Wigerts Bonsai nursery is in North Fort Myers, Florida. Where are you based?
I’m in Northern California, this is one of the best collections I’ve seen on CZcams. I get all my portulacaria plants from Home Depot or Lowe’s but all young cuttings nothing close to this
I actually bought I plant from your nursery on eBay few months ago didn’t realize it was the same one.
Wow, awesome plants! 👍

Love your video Andre, very educational.
Glad you enjoyed it!
They looove scoria in their soil mix from my experience. Scoria, pumice and some akadama works like a charm in my area, which is pretty hot
Thank you for the comment. Sounds like an awesome mix you have there, thanks for sharing. It also gets very hot here in South Africa. Amazing how resilient this species is and will almost grow in anything. I find Dr Andres mix fascinating as its so basic with only two ingredients and is clearly working wonders.
What is the difference between scoria and pumice? And what ratio do you use?
Fantastic.
Glad you think so!
