    For cleaners and ball maintenance try some of the creating the difference stuff. My dad has an old taboo jet black since 2012 and it hasn't been thrown since and I have been using creating the difference (ctd) so fresh so clean. Spray it on your reactive balls wait 30 seconds and a chemical called tacifier is put in the ball to replace the plasticizer and make the ball last longer and the ctd trucut grits last anywhere from 3-6 games.

  • @GrumpaBaggins

    This is probably going to annoy the diehard Motiv fans, but I am genuinely trying to figure this ball out, so I thought I would ask it here. I just finished my 50th game with my Venom Black, which I purchased on 7/12/24. The pro shop I bought it from is 2 hours away, so it's not easy to visit. Out of box, it had a little bit of hook, but that went away quickly. I have tried 2k, 3k, and 4k finishes. I've tried Hook Monster. I have thrown from 9-20 mph (read at the pins) left-handed and from 1st arrow on the left to 3rd on the right, low tilt, or underhanded (which the PSO said to throw it). For the life of me, I can not figure this ball out. It's squirrelly at best. It typically just goes through the face of the pins and is sort of a straight ball until it decides to squirrel over a few boards. I've even seen it wobble, too. I've gotten some really strange splits and oil patterns. I can't explain them. The layout is 58 x 3 ½ x 53 with a PAP of 4.5 left x 1 7/8 up. I've tried a 3, 4, and 5 step approach. The pro shop operator just says to keep practicing or throw it better. That doesn't really help. I have a top score of 153 for one game. The next was 127. But the average is 98. In comparison, all of my other ball averages are in the 150-198 range. Those are different brands, though. I was really excited to get this ball, being my first Motiv and being the Venom Black, but now not so much. Also, I do try to keep my thumb straight and not grip the Vise inserts. I've also tried tape inside the thumb as well as release tape. Nothing is working. Any helpful advice would greatly be appreciated as I am trying my best to stay positive. But this has never happened before, so I'm lost.

    • @machinethesun9243
      @machinethesun9243 Před 15 hodinami

      Take lessons. Nobody here can see you throw or know what the lane conditions are you are throwing on. We don't know what your tilt is, rev rate, rotation, etc is. We can't see your technique, or if you are consistent or if every shot looks different. When I was new I took lessons every couple weeks for a year just to get all the basic fundementals down... a correct pushaway, swing, timing, where to stand on the lane for my style and speed, how to line up, etc. When you get those things down, then you can work on your release so that your revs and speed are in sync, and you'll be able to hook it easily.

      @BornIn1500 Před 14 hodinami

      Averaging in the 90's with any ball means it's operator error. But if you score better with your other balls, I'd just stick with those.

    • @brackend1936
      @brackend1936 Před 14 hodinami

      Hi, like others have stated you need coaching. Also usbc should have a list of coaches in your area. Or ask the pro shop operator. Don’t get discouraged tho. If you can’t find one, watch a ton of videos and practice. There is so much instruction on CZcams. If other balls work better use them as someone stated. But don’t buy another ball before coaching. Even one session with a certified coach will help. Might be worth the 2 hour drive.

    • @surfboardshack3327
      @surfboardshack3327 Před 13 hodinami

      Think you just need to get better and improve your release. Averaging those scores would lead to a ball not hooking/not responding correctly. You’re probably not hooking it the right way i.e getting your thumb out first and lifting with your fingers. And prob don’t have correct side rotation

    Great topic Andrew! As a 53 years old bowler with only 3 years playing it (yes, I learnt to play it from scratch at 50 two-handed as a sunday hobby), I am chasing the 300 by overcoming the 150's. Mental game and reviewing your basics is crucial for doing so. I think your nailed the title. Last sunday after the bowling school, I was thinking I was stuck in 150's and suddenly, when I was watching your video, I found inspiration to go on and set my new goal: 200, then 250 and then 300. I appreciate so much your time for this.

    If you're just learning to bowl, as in averaging under 150, I would not start two-handed. Two-handed bowling requires too much approach speed for a beginner to be accurate. Breaking 150 does mean making spares, which is a lot harder to do with no backswing and / or without a thumb in the ball.

      pitches are the angle at which the holes are drilled! Typically people focus on forward or reverse pitch, especially with two handers, but you can also have left and right pitch. it's really all about finding what is most comfortable for you, which is where the pro shop can help a ton! especially if you can explain what you do/don't like to feel, or if you are having issues where you are tearing up your fingers on a certain spot

    Thanks for the video and for this series. I am new to bowling, having started exactly four months ago. And while I have had several games above 200 (high game of 228), I struggle with consistency. For example, the first time I broke 200, I hit 206. And then followed that up with two games full of splits, scoring in the 150s. It was only earlier this week that I realised that my swing was off (after watching a Kegel training video with a figure 8 swing drill). I kept thinking it was my wrist that was turning on release, resulting in me hitting the target at times, missing to the right or to the left at other times. After trying the figure 8 drill, I bowled two games with the figure 8 swing, and I found that I was hitting my target more consistently, and my axis of rotation was a little better (it used to be very low, or at times ended up being backup). I have to keep practicing, so I look forward to the other videos you'll have in this series.
