I prefer my ESL lessons and English in general to not have grammatical errors. It's really not the best thing to be teaching language learners mistakes, especially when it doesn't simplify the language to make it accessible to them. "Violence" is the noun - you should say "non-violent" approach as "non-violent" is an adjective. He wanted someone TO do something. We don't say "he wanted that...."; it's second language interference.
