I think the reason why this was done is because of the configuration on the first floor. Notice how the floor select has both L and LL. This is to make it ADA friendly.

Good mod. They did a good job at keeping the old feel and not slapping on some ugly gen 2 silver panel in that beautiful cab.

This modernization is quite tasteful! I'm so not used to hearing the Otis voice with CJ Anderson buttons. That"s pretty neat. I like the cabs too.

This is an amazing built strong as a battle ship elevator, a massive DC gear-less traction machine, with the original floor relays and unique floor selector. That is some fine engineering. The MG sets were five or six floors below the WTC machine room.

Probably one of the the best mods we have ever seen on any elevator. Otis always does good with elevator mods.

This is a very cool modernization! I'm glad they fixed the weird set up with a wheelchair lift and separate ways to call each other to get where you need to go. Dispatch is overkill for hydros, but hey it's awesome.

Interesting come across another hydraulic elevator system with destination dispatch? Anyway, who modernized these elevators? Was it Otis, ThyssenKrupp/TK, or an independent 3rd party company?

Mod aside, I love how they fixed the ADA fail by not only having that wheelchair lift but allowing residents to choose whether they end up on the actual lobby or the upper level (without having to walk into one of the elevators just to find out) and I think that’s the reason they made it destination dispatch.

NAH, those literally used to be dover impulse. Dieselducy filmed these years and years ago and now today the elevators have been meshed and the building floors have also been meshed. THIS IS SICK!!!!

i assume the panels on the bottom floor can only call the lift they're next to so you don't get forced to go up/down the stairs or platform lift to get to the other one before it arrives and leaves again. Regardless it still seems like an odd choice to put DD on these when they don't look busy at all and there's not too many serviced floors. Is there a genius piece of logic here i'm missing that would explain it lol
