That moment was a true masterpiece.

When I was growing up my country dog had a litter of puppies, maybe 7 to 8, but once they were weaned my dad took them off onto some backroads and just dropped them. Idk where.... but we had named each one, and had an incredibly special time with them, maybe 6 weeks. A few years after, my family and I had moved to a different town and one day my mother and I happened to be driving the same route to our old house and a dog happened to be traversing the same country road to our "old" home. I immediately cried out, " Mom! That is Precious!!" And instantly knew that was one of the puppies from that litter we had named Precious. My mother did not understand or did not want to stop but Precious somehow instinctively started bounding after our car, even though this was a car unknown to her when she would have been around. I can only now imagine the pain. I have also seen clips of a dog being hit by a vehicle or other disaster and there appears a spirit being with wings coming out of the dog body which just confirms the FACT (yes, I said "fact") that dogs are angels or some sort of spiritual helper.

As the son of a 24 year Navy lifer, my family & I grew up experiencing both the departures and returns of Dad's deployments of anywhere from 6 mo. to 3 yrs. Of my parents 25 wedding Anniversaries, 14 were spent apart. Our Christmases were equally as split up with Dad frequently overseas. The year before Dad retired, I started my Navy Career of 30 years. This time it was I who did the departures and return arrivals. Dad served in the Pacific during WWII, Korea, The Cuban Missile Crisis, & Vietnam. My career included Vietnam, Panama & Desert Storm. I quickly learned, the departures & arrivals for the sailors are much different than it is for the families. Although the departures were sad for the entire family, including the sailor, the crew is put to work on 12 hr shifts the minute the ship leaves the pier, easing the burden of what just occurred dockside. That at sea work schedule continues daily. The home arrivals are completely different. The ship's crew starts the countdown to the arrival date 3 months out. Typically marked off on the calendar found in every shipboard dept.; Including personal cell phones. By the time the ship is a week from arriving home, the crew is counting the hours. (4 days & a wake-up!) Six to eighteen months without a kiss from the wife or sweetheart is about all a shipmate can take! So those special arrivals are the greatest moments in the lives of our military personnel , as well as their families.

First of all well done to all conservationists for their dedication & human kindness, as fo me, yes I have had & still am caring for birds & animals whenever & where ever I am in the world. I remember one time on the Isle of Man in the U.K. I claimed down the ladder on a harbor wall to rescue a full with a large hook in her beak. Another time in Cornwall I rescued a kitten from a harbor wall at sea level where she was clinging to some barnacles. Just a couple of the rescues I've had the good fortune to be in the right place at the right time.

Human kindness is so much better than human cruelty.

You never know what to expect from animals. I stopped on the side of a highway to fix a tarp that was coming off of my trailer and it was very windy and someone else stopped to help me. Then a 5 week old kitten came out of nowhere and climbed up my pants and shirt onto my shoulder while I was hanging onto the tarp. I didn't want to put it down for fear of it getting hit by a car. I am NOT a cat person. I have dogs. I couldn't find it a home with other cat owners. So almost 11 1/2 years later that huge cat comes and sits on my lap every evening when I get home. I have heard people choose their dogs but cats choose their owners. I guess he chose me. lol

There's heaps of open face cut mineshafts around Brisbane...my nextdoor neighbour has one down the back...it goes roughly 20m or so before hitting a wall...I know of another 5 in my general area (easy walking distance) some go a few metres to long enough to make a decent echo in...all cut into rock faces....there's even a few massive open cut quarry mines in the national Forrest that borders where I live. The area is old volcanic ground...some are filled with water after hitting natural underground springs etc....ive jumped into one holding a small boulder Until all I could see was just pure black darkness in every direction after going through various stages of clear green to merky green...after going from dark to darker to even darker then just black lol it put absolute fear into me and I let the small boulder go and started thrusting towards the surface jellyfish style lol...my fear eased once the green layers started making an appearance then sunlight penetration....my mate paddled a few stones out on a old surfboard he brought one time and we rolled them off one at a time and put one ear under the surface of the water... after what felt like minutes we heard a faint TICK sound each time...dunno if it was hitting bottom or possibly old machinery left behind....most of the walk in shafts were abandoned after gold percentage to dirt ratio wasn't worth the time & effort...a lot of iron stone iron ore and volcanic rock...I had a friend who thought he hit the jackpot after digging the red dirt ground in his backyard to lay a slab down for a shed and finding magnetic rocks in the process...he thought a meteorite in the past had shattered on impact on his property lol....hate to be the bearer of bad news but red dirt in Aus iron isn't far away
