Is this pattern draft available?
Ok thank you was just wondering. By giving them a water bath do you think that would hurt the paste?. Might have asked you that already, but can’t remember. Anyways I water bath 4 jars and lift the other 4 alone. So I will check them in about weeks and see??. I wish I had ran across you before buying and wasting all that money on Amazon. Again Thank you so much for sharing. Those beans were Awesome 😮 How long should those beans keep being vacuum sealed?. Just curious.
Eight weeks
I’m sure no harm was done by canning your paste! About your vacuum sealed beans though…they will mold, at the very least store them in a little alcohol. You want the beans to be covered. Indri wipes down every bean with a little alcohol, but that will only protest them for a short while. I have a mother jar, so if I’m not prepared to start a new batch of vanilla or make paste, I toss my “extra” beans in there.
Yes I have a mother jar I started. I tried the 3 ingredient recipe. I found another recipe that called for sugar, corn syrup, water, 2 ounces vanilla beans and 2/3 alcohol. I found a vanilla vodka that I used in it. I was reading somewhere after the fact that a water bath may of evaporate the alcohol?. Thank you for replying back to me. I’m all new to this vanilla thing. I got scared maybe, I ruined it after spending all that money on finally getting some good beans. But I guess time will tell?. Said to let it set 8 weeks or more. So you think the alcohol was evaporated after a water bath?. Thank you for replying back and I will not keep bothering you. I’m sure you’re busy. But I thank you for your opinion 😊😊😊
@@Rebecca.Robbins 👍
I try the beans you buy from IndriVanilla. They smell like vanilla. I’m not buying vanilla beans from Amazon ever again. I bought several different ones trying to fine good ones. Didn’t have any luck through Amazon. I got my beans from IndriVanilla and made vanilla bean paste. I did a few jars in a water bath to sealed them. Is that good or bad?. Thank you those were the best beans I have ever gotten from all the beans I bought from Amazon and one other place I tried. Going to order some more soon😀😀
I’m glad you liked the beans! People often wonder which ones are the best and I say, if you order from Indri, you can’t go wrong. Everything they sell is amazing! As far as canning goes, I can’t speak to that. I have jars of paste, that I didn’t can sitting in my pantry from two years ago that are still good! I may have made more than needed! 🤣
Try peppermint oil and temper your chocolate.
Thanks for the tip!
Only six colours? 😢
I’m not sure what you mean?
Oh I love this. How many shafts is this pattern?
Thank you! I use a 16 shaft loom. For this draft I’m using a 12 point twill threading with the other 4 shafts being used for the selvages, which I like to do in a double weave loop.
So is there no need to strain when using the whole pod? I’ve seen so many videos straining so I’m confused bc it looks like you get more when you don’t
No need to strain! You want all of that yumminess!
How much soap is mixed in with the lanolin? Thank you!
Just a little. It really only takes a couple drops. You will know that you have enough when the water mixed with the lanolin turns white.
I finally found someone as obsessed with vanilla as me😂
🤩
These are SO beautiful!! 😍
Thank you! 😊
Dang, I just tried for 20 min but my Lenny lamb is not long enough for this
I’m sorry to hear that!
Sorry to ask a silly question on old video! So you use a Skein winder instead of a warping board or Mill?
Yes! I find it so much easier and faster given that I beam sectionally. Plus, as a professional weaver, I buy my yarn in bulk, so having 48-60 or more cones of any given yarn is quite normal for me. I typically buy 100 lbs of each yarn at a time.
Hi! Quick question on plant fiber dyeing with procion dyes, do you have to let the yarn completely dry after the soda ash bath? i don't have a spinner so trying to figure out that step. with wool, i'm used to dyeing it when it's still completely wet so dyeing a dry skein seems strange to me! Thank you so much for this video!!!
Thanks for asking! You can dye wet or dry. I dye with wet yarn 99.9% of the time! Just like with acid dyeing.
@@Rebecca.Robbins thank you!!!
How do you keep the tension so even when beaming? Mine gets a tad wonky even over shorter warps (10ft or so)
I have a spool rack and leclerc tension box
Put as much tension as you can on your tension box, then spin your beam as consistently as possible. I typically don’t give it a lot of thought. Sometimes I think the more you overthink things the less consistent the results are.
Guess I found you too late. But thanks for the videos I can refer back to.
You are welcome!
Every project I have done is made with the recipient in mind. I only have one, my first completed lap blanket, but every other project was woven with love and with a specific person in mind. Every rug I've made, every tea towel, every tapestry, every tablecloth...handwoven, customized and given with love and appreciation. And weaving, leading to sewing, leading to quilts, leading who knows where next...but weaving has opened my world to the possibilities of...EVERYTHING! Live with Joy and you will never have a bad day :)
I love that!
I appreciate your honesty here. I have been weaving for about 6 years, I have never repeated a project. Every project is planned in my head, colors, patterns but yeah, when I get to the loom, there are always kinks to get out. Usually it is my overconfidence that everything went so well! LOL Is anything perfect? Nope, but I kinda like it that way. If I wanted 'perfect', I would simply buy it!
What happens if I used hot water? 😭 is wool supposed to smell when I wash it? 😭
Wool shouldn’t smell, but the yuk coming out of a diaper cover certainly can smell! You can use hot water, but be SUPER GENTLE with the fabric when it’s hot and wet. There are different kinds of wool too, some will react differently.
This is such a sweet video for you to share!💜🩷💚💙❤️🥰
You are so kind
Thanks for the pros and cons list...electricity...I hadn't thought of that. Of all the things! lol I have my eye on a used AVL compudobby...but I'm gonna do it! My one loom to rule them all, is how I'm looking at it. I have all kinds of looms here but...I need a really, really versatile one. And well, when there's a bargain to be had...:) Also, I've just subscribed...hopefully, you're still at it.
I have been mostly publishing shorts lately. I’m super busy with my weaving business that I just haven’t found much time to make new long form videos. I will eventually get back at it though!
Thank You so much🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾, you have no idea how much i learned from this video alone.
I'm so glad! I LOVE hearing this! I guess I should say “reading” this!
You're a fantastic teacher.
Thank you! 😃
❤
❤️
Very cool! Did you use a special dye?
I used Dharma Trading fluorescent acid dyes!
I've just made my first ever brew today! I have a very large ceramic kombucha pot with a spigott and now I've come across this continuous method of brewing using the pot I own I'm so stoked! I have "bucha" mad kids and i can see how this method would be so helpful for us! Thanks heaps for your thorough video on your process!
Fantastic!!!!! I love continuous brew!
You can never have too many weaving related books.
So true!
I have been searching forever for a sling carry method that puts baby on my back. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and my youngest is 15 months old. I'm SO excited to try this carry! Thank you so much for sharing 😊❤
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Rebecca, I have been a weaver for only 5 years, I will be 73 years old in August, and I have 4 looms..1 of 60 inches with 4 frames, 1 of 28 inches with 4 frames, 1 small 15 inch with 4 frames too, and a small 24 in but with 6 frames. With the bigger one I also have a flying shuttle, but really not like yours... I love yours. Lucky! Is this made especially for you? Or is it marketed and people can buy it? If yes, where please? This seems so much easier than pulling the rope from right to left and left to right. Congratulations on your creations for young mothers, So many beautiful colors, wow with nature...and made by you. Fantastic a true artist in every way. I wish I was still young to wear one with a baby. But could I wear this as a shawl? Or it's too long I think.
First of all, congratulations on picking up weaving!!! You definitely CAN wear my weaving as a shawl! I get orders for shawls all of the time! About the fly shuttle, it is available for purchase, but you do have to have an AVL loom. AVL sells this feature as “Shuttle assist”. I actually have a friend in the US who is currently selling her loom which happens to be set up pretty much EXACTLY like mine. Shoot me an email (in the description of most of my long form videos) if you would like her contact info!
@@Rebecca.Robbins 🥰 thanks for the answer..
It just occurred to me that one could save themselves a bunch of stress by measuring and setting up one inch at a time. Am I wrong about this?
I have actually started doing 3” sections! I need more cones of yarn to do 3” at once but it saves me so much time, that it’s definitely worth it to me.
@@Rebecca.Robbins Oh okay. I'm still trying to soak up all weaving knowledge that I can. Thank you for all that you do for us.
That is beautiful! You are very talented.
Thank you so much!
This was an amazing tour…thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for this!! I was intimidated but now I’m feeling more excited to give this a try. You’re a great teacher!❤
Thank you so much!!!! You can do this!
1. Vanilla extract 2. Vanilla paste 3. Vanilla powder 4. Vanilla sugar Anything else?
Vanilla salt is great too!
Amazing! I tried this once from our local babywearing group, but I think I’ll try again now that my baby is an up and down toddler
Thank you! You should for sure give it another try!
Thanks for these recipes. I love the Coffee Mate Salted Caramel Chocolate syrup creamer. But it’s hard to find in pumps & is expensive, if you can find it. I look forward to trying your recipes. 😊
Thank you!
beautiful bread. Jesus loves you and your soul is priceless!!
Thank you so much!
Hi, do you mean minimum 8 shafts for main weave plus 4 additional shaft to have doubleweave for selvedges, so minimum total 12 shafts loom?
I started weaving babywraps on 4 shaft looms. You definitely don’t need more. I use 16 shaft compu-dobby looms, so yes, I use a minimum of 12 shafts but it’s not necessary.
@@Rebecca.Robbins thanks for your reply. I have two more questions. I can only do baby wraps on counterbalance or countermarch looms but not jack looms right? Cause CB and CM looms have even tension and shed? What is the minimum and maximum weaving width loom for baby wraps? I was thinking that baby wraps will be the biggest one whole piece item I’m thinking of learning to weave so that is why.
Can you switch randomly between front and back during weaving to pull out shapes, say, like a white circle with the green and white around it? I am aware it will connect the layers, but curios about it.
The beauty of double weave is that you can do almost anything! Especially if you aren’t afraid of connecting the layers. Connecting and interchanging the layers adds a tremendous amount of versatility and variability, opening up a world of possibilities!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
These colours are a dream!
Awe, thank you! 🥰
This is amazing-I found and bought a beautiful piece by Gladys second-hand and googled the info on the label and this came up! Wonderful to know the care and skill that went into my new (to me) jacket :) I love it. Thanks for sharing this. Edited to add this is kind of breaking my heart to think about the quality of life our parents had (my parents are Gladys' age and a lot like her)... working a normal job like nursing meant resources to raise a family, along with a beautiful home with tons of time and room for your hobbies, and then a comfortable retirement to fully enjoy your hobbies. Wow. The dream. Now we work ourselves into the ground and can't even afford food and a roof over our head let alone big families and the space and time to really LIVE and enjoy hobbies... we have been so swindled. :'(
Thanks for watching! I was saying to my daughter today that society is messed up. We need more community and intergenerational living.
I have a Fanny Loom. Its good. It’s old.
And it does the job! Good solid loom!

It’s a babywrap. ❤️
~ Exquisite piece ~ 😍
Love the colors! What did this make? A rug?
This made a babywrap!
Looks like a snake skin
The weave is called “snake skin”!
Is the water warm when lanolizing ? I thought the water wasn’t supposed to be warm or cool.
I use hot water to melt the lanolin, then mix with room temp water.
What kind of fabric is it?
The warping Dandelion and the weft is Peppermint / rose. The fabric is a babywrap now!
Greatest sound ever
Thank you!!!!!! Someone understands!!!! I LOVE the sound of my scissors cutting!
This is the type of ASMR I can get behind
Me too! 🥰
Oh I love your scissors
Thank you! I love them as well!
